  1. Hmm I may have hit a snag. My fiancée was previously here on a J-1 visa. This was a year a half ago. Does this mean she can’t get a k-1 visa until she meets the two year foreign residence requirement? Anyone have any experience. She was here as an au pair, if that matters.

edit - I think we may be fine since her visa said not subject to 212 e

    Hello!

I have been through this same process with my fiancé who was a resident of Peru during the time of our filing. We changed his petition after he returned home to Venezuela. Our petition has been at the NVC for a year so it was very easy for me to have it moved. Once things speed up it will all come down to timing and whether your fiancé makes the request before NVC sends it out the door.

here are the instructions NVC provided me:

    -Request via public inquiry form

    NVC.state.gov/inquiry

    -Enter required info

-In the question box you will need to type the following:

I am the petitioner and I wish to change the interview location to (insert embassy and country)

    Attached is proof of residency

-Attach roof of residency to file attachment

if the petition is already at the embassy then the request must be made with them. I hope this helps!

I’m in a similar situation as OP but already filed. Can this step only be done once the file is at the NVC? Or can I do it before it’s approved with USCIS? Thanks!

I suggest , if you haven’t done it yet, create a profile with USCIS and while there go have and submit a Change of Address - do it ASAP if you have not received your NOA2 yet

Awesome - please share .... I have been looking for a reliable attorney .....

I created the account but I don’t see any option to update the address for my fiancée, just me (the US citizen).

  4. Hi everyone. Is there a way to update where my fiancée will eventually do her interview? When I submitted the application she was living and working in Netherlands and at the end of her visa this past January, she was going to get a work visa in Sweden but because of COVID that got cancelled. I had originally indicated that she was going to do her interview in Sweden but now she’s returned to her home country, Argentina, where she will do the interview instead. How do I make that happen? Thank you!

Yes, it's normal. Usually 2-4 weeks before you see your NOA1 letter. Keep checking for your check to have been cashed. Have patience. This is going to be a long ride.

while you are waiting can you so a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

    Thanks

I added the information but I’m not sure how to display it with my posts. When I go to fill out my timeline I see the information in there.

I did finally get the text yesterday that my application was received and today they cashed my check.
