Hi there, can you please update our status, thanks!
Approved Jan. 6, 2011. Card received Jan. 10, 2011.
What a cool looking card. One of my better looking mugshots yet!
-
PS- bring ALL possible IDs even though the letter uses "OR." I was off the hook because of baby, but I only had my conditional GC. Should have had other forms of legal ID.

Just updating my status:
I-797 sent in
NOA 9/20/2010
Biometrics completed in SF (250 Broadway Street, close to Sansome) 10/12/2010
In case anyone else is doing it in SF:
Very nice service in SF, especially if you wear your baby! Parking garages charge $14 (no hourly) around there. I found street parking at 7.50 AM. I was 7th in line for 8 AM appointment. Seen at 8.35, done at 8.50 AM.
CSC is moving much faster for my I-797 than for my K-1!

Sorry, I should add I don't have the car, and my kids are 21 months and 3 months, quite impossible to take on the bus or cab.
Has anyone heard of rescheduling the biometrics appt AFTER missing the original date? Or trying to go there the day before (holiday Monday) and seeing if they can give me a new appt there instead?
Thanks.
-
Hey guys,
I have my biometrics appt scheduled for Tuesday the 12th at 8 AM. It would be best to reschedule, but I'm too late to send the request in, and I doubt the office is open on Monday the 11th which is Columbus Day.
My nanny doesn't start working till 9 AM because she has her own child to care for, drive to school, etc. before coming over. My husband is out of town, and there's no one I can call to come over at 7 AM to watch my kids while I go to this appt.
I don't know what to do. Any ideas?

Hi guys! Nice to meet you all!
Can I add my name to the list?
I (re)sent my I-751 September 17, 2010.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, everyone!
USCIS sent the package back to me yesterday requesting a cheque for $545 and I resent it today with the cheque. They were really fast with the turn around. I sent it 9/10, they received it 9/13, I received it back 9/16, I sent it back 9/17.
So now, fingers crossed.

It's nearly 12 AM Saturday night...
I finally got the baby to sleep...
able to brush up and shower, watch a bit of TV, read a bit of internet...
I'm going through all the paperwork I have laying about doing my lifting of conditions, getting ready to file the paperwork away...
I am reading the checklist of items and feeling pretty good that this burden of paperwork is finally over...
When suddenly...
Well well, what do you know, it hits me that --
I FORGOT TO ATTACH THE CHEQUE FOR $545!!!
I just sent the package off yesterday evening by Priority Mail. What now? Do I wait for them to send the whole package back with a big "REJECTED" on it? If they send it all back to me can I resend it later on with the cheque attached as if it's my first time? Do I send in the cheque now? Is there anything I can do right now?
Oy, it's like I lost 10% of my memory with each pregnancy.
Anyone else as stupid as me? Hope not.

Thank you two a whole bunch!
Especially v333k, I printed your list off and used that as guideline.
Is a cover letter necessary? I'm inclined not to do one. Also, I didn't get sworn affidavits, I'm inclined not to do one if it's not absolute must.
Please advise.
I'll be joining the September filers if I get this sent out soon!
Thanks!

Hi! Update on us...
Our #2 arrived on July 16th, 2010 at 7.15 AM. He is one month young today.
My water broke at 4.15 AM, so from start to finish it was only three hours.
Crazy story: I walked to the hospital in between contractions, not knowing I was THIS close to delivering. My husband had to stay home with #1 and wait for his nanny to arrive. By the time I checked in, I was 10 cms, and 100% effaced. I knew second deliveries are usually faster but not this fast! Good thing though, I was allowed to get an epidural. Actually I got double dosage because the first dose did jack all for me.
I love that drug! Husband made it to hospital before my second dosage of epidural.
In hospital for two nights then walked home with BB #2.
I'm filing for I-751 this week which is just in time because we will get #2's birth certificate this week so I can send that in with our evidence package.
Good luck to everybody!
Ps-it's like winter in SF this month! My poor kid gets no sunshine.

Good morning!
It's that time for me and I'm filling in the paperwork to remove conditions on my 2 year GC...so my question is what needs to be notarized? Also, what evidence are absolutely necessary?
I think I read that the affidavit from friends is not absolutely necessary, is that right? We only know one couple who has known us since we got married, so we'd only have one letter from them.
Bills, insurance documents, etc.: do those need to be notarized?
Thanks for any help! I'm in between nursing a newborn and chasing around a 19 month old so I apologize in advance if I'm asking questions that have been answered millions of times.

Hi! So nice to see all the updates! Our #2 is due in a month, but I bet he will be out in two weeks. Belly button still hasn't popped out, hehe. Our nanny has started and wow, what a difference she makes! Chasing after a toddler when you're in your last trimester has been the toughest job I've had so that's why I haven't been checking this forum much.
I hope everyone is enjoying their pregnancy (or as much as you can, what with the sickness, acid reflux, etc.!). I want the baby to come out NOW but I also kind of want this moment to last forever, just him in my belly, protected from the world. =)

Cool!
But um...my French is is REALLY rusty (eight years of it in school and never spoke it outside of class) so do you have to hold the bottle at a certain angle or what? Or must the North Star line up with the moon on a foggy day or what? Does the man mention any specific type of shoe, such as only a low heeled men's shoe, etc.?
Man I'd love a glass of wine...a few more weeks and I can!

All three of us are coughing and mucus-y.
I have to cross my legs when I cough otherwise I pee a little.
I hear that's what happens as you have subsequent kids. So all you first time moms should be safe. Hehe.

Hi, ADBA! How are you?
At this stage, I will hold back on getting a Canadian passport for my son, because I feel it's an extra cost. He has an American passport and we don't travel to any "un-American friendly" countries. Once he's in grade school and we do more traveling, then we will probably go ahead and get a Canadian passport as it's more travel-friendly. With my to-be born #2, we will be doing the same thing.
(The search function did not work for me. Took me a long time to find this thread!)

Quick update:
Application for Canadian citizenship sent in to Nova Scotia for Baby Monkey: Sept. 15, 2009.
Acknowledgment letter received from CIC: Jan. 23, 2010
Citizenship card for Baby Monkey issued: March 27, 2010
Citizenship card for Baby Monkey received in mail (no other documents requested): April 3, 2010.
So for us it took 6.5 months to receive it.
Hope this helps.

Hi everyone! Hope your pregnancies are going well! Mommies, how yall doing?
Wow, this site is so different. I am still trying to figure out how to navigate it. Couldn't find this thread nor the "Getting Canadian Citizenship for Baby" thread. Going to go search some now.
I have been busy for a bit but am back now! I entered the US on my K1 two years ago today! Yay!

Hi,
I'm going to give you a different answer than the ones posted here.
I signed a pre-nup.
A pre-nup was not mentioned when we were engaged. It was only brought up after I had entered the US, which was April 5th, 2008. Our wedding date was a month later.
My then-fiance's father had a lot of property and personal assets that would be passed down to his two children, so the pre-nup was his idea - to protect his two children.
My then-fiance had his lawyer draft up the pre-nup.
I hired my own lawyer (at my then-fiance's expense, of course, as he was the one who requested the pre-nup) to go over the pre-nup with myself and explain the contract to me and we made revisions as we saw fit to ensure I was protected as well, including straying by either spouse, how much I would be entitled to in the event of divorce, how much each child would receive, etc.
The two lawyers then got together and went over the final draft.
My then-fiance and I both received a copy of the draft and ok'ed it, signed it, sent it back. We're both well taken care of in the pre-nup.
We got married.
We're happily married and expecting our second child.
Soon we will have to go back to our lawyers and draft up a will.
Pre-nups are a morbid thought, no doubt. But I got over it quickly. It's not my husband or his family don't trust me. They just want to protect themselves, and that's understandable. If my father was a multi-millionaire, I wouldn't be surprised he would request my fiance sign a pre-nup. I don't feel my husband thinks I'm poor and I'm a leach wanting to get into this country and take all his money and then bring all my family and their spouses over here. We're happy and in love and are equals. His father is the one with money, not my husband! Lol!

Quick update:
January 23, 2010 received acknowledgment letter for our child from CIC. They give us 5-7 months time frame for Canadian Citizenship card if no other info is needed.

Sorry to hear about the drama in the CSC forum (where is the CSC forum, anyway?)
I don't think I had drama in the K1 forum when I was going through the process. Though our K1 petition DID take a farking whole 10 months and that's with a lawyer, too.
And ps - in our four years together, I've never heard my husband fart. Only when he's on the toilet. And he won't let me open the bathroom door when he or I are going #1 or #2. I find this behavior all very old school and odd. But then again, I kinda like this "gentlemen don't fart in front of their wives" thing. Keeps the romance alive. Haha.

Got it. I chose Personal album so it can only be seen if someone clicks on "My Photos" and that's it, right?
Thanks, rsn.
-
I just did it, twice and when I want to view "My Photos" it says no images to display.
-
Hi, I must be stupid or this is more complicated than other forums, but underneath "My Timeline" there is "My Photos," where I want to add the photo from my signature. I want to keep my signature photo-free.
I have been trying for the last 10 minutes. There's no "Add photos to 'My Photos'."
Can someone please help me?

Compared to other regional forums, we're so normal. We need some drama here.
I admit, I check out specific regional forums cuz I'm drawn to the drama. Like, do you really think a 21 year old hunky man whom you met on your second day of vacation REALLY loves you? All 200 pounds, 20 more years of you? And your three kids from a previous marriage?
Or do you think an 85 pound, 19 year old girl dreamt her whole life of meeting a 47 year old twice divorced, on unemployment, living with mom pot-bellied man who can't hold a job, owes child support, has a drinking problem to be her honey forever and ever?
When I read those in the Major Changes or regional forums I'm just in awe. I've been blinded by love before but some of these are so ridonkulous yet I can't help reading!
Is it bad to watch stupid people's visa dreams like a train wreck happening?
Tax stuff...six years later...yikes

Hello VJ, loooong time no see! I have been procrastinating checking in here to look for the info I need because I am so scared of what I will need to do or pay. Gosh, I'm so bad.
Here goes. But please, be gentle. Don't be so hard on me and scare me. Every issue has a solution, right?
In 2008 I received my k1 visa and entered the USA and married my husband. We were in California for three years. During this time, I visited Vancouver three times for about a week each time, staying at hotels. During this time we had two children. In 2011 we moved overseas for my husband's job, and had one more child. During this time, I visited Vancouver once for a few weeks. All visits were just visits.
I closed my main bank account sometime in 2008. I let my Visa card expire. My bc driver license expired last year. I got my California driver license sometime in 2010. My husband's accountant has been filing all our taxes in San Francisco, and now overseas. I became a USC before we moved overseas.
The last time I filed my Canadian income tax was in 2007. I didn't file 2008's because I left in March 2008. I did not notify ccra or MSP I was moving abroad and not returning. Was I supposed to? Please don't tell me I'm red flagged and owe thousands of dollars to MSP and rev canada...We are most likely never going to live in canada again, until we retire or if we decide to purchase a vacation property there years down the road.
I'm so nervous I don't know what or who or how I should contact! Please, be gentle!
Thanks for any help, guys!
