  1. I moved to the US in April 2008 and Monkey was born in January 2009 in San Francisco. I will be delivering #2 here as well.

I know the conception date of both pregnancies so I tend to calculate from that date (it makes more sense to me, personally).

My EDD is July 25, 2010.

With Monkey, his EDD was January 25, 2009 and he came on the 14th. With five of my girl friends who delivered that year, all were at least a week early. I think #2 will be early, too, but not more than five days early. ^_^

  2. I'm pregnant with #2. Due in July. The two kids will be 18 months apart.

I met a woman this weekend whose son is eight months now and was 11 lbs at birth. ALL NATURAL BIRTH. No drugs, all push.

My eyes bulged out of my socket so far I must have seemed so rude. But she and her husband weren't skinny minnies, but not huge either. Bigger boned, good ol' fashioned healthy Amurkin folks.

  3. I wanted to respond to Revenesque in the "Vent" thread, but I didn't want to jam it up with baby babble, it would be unfair to others who had serious venting to do.

I'm sorry to start another baby thread, but I felt the other baby thread in the "Off Topic" forum was just too big and they seem to have their established group already.

Is it ok if I start this one here? Anyone can join in the fun, not just knocked up VJers.

Ps - is the French in my title correct? It's been a while.

    **********

Revenesque - you gained 10 lbs in 8 weeks? Old wives' tale would say you're having a girl.

They also say if you look pregnant from the back, it's a girl.

I didn't know what I was having with my first, but I gained around 22 lbs and did not look pregnant at all unless you saw my belly.

  4. Congratulations!

And your little one's too cute! :luv:

Aww shucks! Thanks for the compliment, Krikit. He turns one in three days.

Lgg - I worked at McD in high school and was taught to MAJORLY salt the fries. So much that whenever I ate fast food fries I always request them unsalted. This guarantees fresh fries, too.

I don't like salt. I use hot sauce instead. Hahah

  5. Ravenesque -

Sorry to hear that! I'm due a month before you. I won't tell anyone till I start showing.

Is your mom upset you will be moving to the USA? Sorry to be so nosy, but you sound so excited about being pregnant and here you tell your mom and she is indifferent. Do you live together?

    Aiya...

  6. My father and his siblings are meeting in Vancouver in February (of all months)! And he requested that I bring our little family there during that time.

Tickets are booked, my aunt has a huge house for all of us to stay in, but I couldn't get a rental car! I checked all the usual suspects and they are around $550 for 72 hour rental. FML.

We have UAL rental car coupons, but of course February is all blacked out.

I can not imagine what traffic, and weather will be like. How are we going to get around anywhere? It will be interesting to say the least.

  7. Cool, now I know I can get my CDN passport photos at AAA. Thanks, guys!

For my child's Canadian Citizenship Card, I had his photos taken at Walgreen's. In the guide at cic.gc.ca, it says babies need not follow the exact specifications. I don't know if that applies to Canadian passports also because I haven't applied for his passport yet, but just thought I'd let you guys know. It was a relief I could go to Walgreen's as I searched high and low and couldn't find a place that could do specifically CDN passport photos. (Like, how difficult is that anyway if you're an experienced photographer?!)

  8. Sorry guys, my comp is too slow for me to read up on all the pages I missed since I last checked in here. ;)

Sounds like you guys are talking about feeding? My almost one year old boy loves anything sweet. Also, he is loving anything spicy (hot) that I eat. I'm pregnant with our second and since I got pregnant, my tongue tastes bitter. Nothing makes it feel any better, so I've been chewing all different brands of gum to get rid of the bitter gross taste, and whenever I eat, I need to eat something with bite. Lots of hot sauce, sour things, etc. The other day, I opened a jar of jalapenos and mixed it with salsa and just ate it like that. :D It relieves the gross feeling of my tongue for a while.

So anyway, my son has been dabbling in my spicy foods and he loves it. He eats whatever we eat whenever we go out for breakfast and lunch. His appetite is low during dinner time, though, but I just let him graze if he's hungry. He gets enough during the day, plus he's still breastfeeding.

I think I will bf him till he's two. His sibling will be born when he's 1.5 years old. How is it like bfing two kids? Will my nipples fall off?

  9. ...I'm like a zombie, Sofia still not sleeping well at nights, she have been waking up about 6 times at night, we don't know what else to do!!!!!!!. Everything was going great at night but the last three weeks have been horrible

Hi, Vi Mazzella - I've read a couple of times you mention your baby won't sleep through the night but I can't read through all these million pages.

Can you give me an outline of what your evening routine is like? I'd like to help because I believe quality sleep is the foundation of good health and I feel bad for anyone who doesn't get a good night's rest.

We were finally able to train our baby to sleep through the night at around five months.

Sorry your baby doesn't sleep well. =(

  10. I started taking 1 prenatal and 1 DHA fish oil daily the week I found out I was pregnant. I switched to a couple of kinds before I realized I didn't need to buy the $20 for 30 pills so I have been taking drugstore brand ones for most of my first pregnancy.

I'm still breastfeeding (son is 11 months) and still taking the prenatal vitamins and DHA. Now I'm two months pregnant with the second. I will continue to take the prenatal vitamins and DHA after the second is born and maybe forever because they're just like daily multivitamins. I haven't had one chipped nail since I've been taking them. Strange, huh?

By the way, ladies...you CAN get pregnant when you're breastfeeding! Don't use breastfeeding as birth control! We were just surprised because I got pregnant again right after I got my period back.

  11. Ravenesque - we took a prenatal class (my husband and myself) and it was three classes on three different Saturdays: Preparing for Baby, Breastfeeding, and Something Else.

Not worth it, imo. My husband said seriously, all that stuff could be found online. I didn't believe him I wanted to go to a classroom setting and have hands on learning experience. What a huge waste of $300.

I wouldn't recommend it because you get all the information from books and from the nurses at the hospital. I don't want to sound insensitive, but I think motherhood is instinctive. When you have the baby, you just know what to do. Everything else can be looked up online.

And speaking of birthing, I think it's true some doctors just don't want to spend that much time down there with a V-birth! My doctor (gay male - not that it matters) spent 3.5 hours getting me to push. I swear he walked away a few times to bang his head against the wall! No, he didn't, but by 6 PM I saw his face and he don't look happy so I said fark it, and pushed hard and Monkey came out.

I got to admit, I was too posh to push. I thought I'd be ok with pushing and would throw my modesty out the window, but I surprised myself. My husband was down there with one nurse and both of them were telling me to push and I said I'm pushing! But they both said no, you're doing little girl pushes. I felt something come out once (maybe a bit of *ahem* wet gas) and I totally freaked.

Oh yeah, the last half hour of pushing, my doctor had a bowl of olive oil. I saw him dip his hand in that bowl and in my vajayjay his hand went. I'm a small girl, what can I say.

  12. Thanks for the welcome, everyone!

I'm kinda glad my monkeys will be close in age. If I can survive two, having a third in a couple of years will be no problem. We don't need to try to get pregnant. My husband just needs to look me in the eye and *BAM* I'm fertilized.

Tnh9479 - our kids share the same birfday. Mine was due January 25th, too bad he was early. I wanted him later in the month.

  13. Hey everyone -

I've never posted here, but I post sporadically in the Canada Forum.

My kid is now 11 months and um...I'm pregnant again. They will be 18 months apart.

I can't really wrap my head around how I'm going to deal with twice the diaper changes and twice the crying! When one cries does the other one follow?

It'll be fun, I know, but man I'm just in shock and awe right now.

    Help!

  14. Hi guys!

I've asked about shipping before but this time I'm finally doing it. I'll be flying into Vancouver with my child in tow for a week to finally clean out my storage unit.

I reckon I'll have four 50-pound boxes of stuff that I'll package myself at Fedex and ship from Vancouver to San Francisco the day before I return to SF.

Aside from my passport, what else do I need to bring to ship my stuff? What does Fedex need to ship my stuff to leave Canada customs and enter US customs?

    Thanks so much!

  15. Hey guys,

I know some of you are doing this for your babies too. According to form CIT0021, it says: "In the case of a child under 12 months of age, photos do not need to meet the citizenship specifications. The photo must be of the child only and must clearly show the face of the child. The photos do not need to be signed and dated by a photographer."

So does this mean we can just get US passport size photos taken of the baby at any passport photo place here in the USA? OR - does it mean I can print off my own photos of my baby on 4x6 paper or whatever?

Just to be clear, do they just need one or two?

I'm sending in the application at the end of July. How long did it take for those of you who applied for your babies?

I forget, do babies need passports to travel to Canada now? If yes, I guess I should be filing for his US passport concurrently.

Thanks! Hope you're all doing swell!

It's a nice hot 13 degrees in San Francisco. Fark. Oops, pardon my language, but it's hard to be polite when your fingers are freezing and you have the heat on in the middle of July.

  16. Hey, glad I came back to see if anyone replied after my last post!

Misty1979 - I assume you did your test in Los Angeles? Was the road test in your own car? Do I have to bring my own car then? I was thinking of having my husband drop me off then pick me up afterward. Guess I should be driving there? So, drive there without a valid license, is that what the DMV wants!
