  1. ok thanks thats excellent. i followed the link and i think i know what to do now... i will apply for a subject access straight away and then a police certificate in a few weeks time and see what they both say. if my police certificate shows 'no live trace' i will then take my subject access to the magistrates court and get a Memorandum of Conviction which is what we call court records. then i will take the Memorandum of Conviction and the subject access (to show there are no other offences) to interview... simple lol :)

The police certificate took a few weeks. I also requested a subject access after I received the certificate and it came within a week (don't know if it was because I recently requested the certificate). I got a subject access a few years ago and that took about 5 or 6 weeks.

Either way I had no trace on the certificate and nothing on the subject access - I was a bit unsure of something so I wanted to be definitive!

  2. U had the same problem, but then found that our local luxury gas station (a White Oaks, if you have them there) sells Barry's tea, so now I am happy. Another tip is to go to an authentic Indian store (dot, not feather), they tend to have good, strong tea.

There is an authentic Indian shop 3 minutes away from us - I LOVE it. They sell all kinds of random chocolates and sweets like Cadbury's fruit and nut, aero, time out and Polos (not that IS random). I don't drink tea (shock, horror) so can't say I've looked for it but I thought I was dreaming when I saw the sweets and they were all made in the UK - unlike the Cadbury's you see in Walmart which is very thin and made somewhere like Chicago.

  3. Hello guys, I am waiting for my interview on June 17 in London, Embassy. I was working here and I want to know and book for my plane ticket as soon as I find out if I can have a visa. But I am a bit worried if how many working days before I can have my visa in my hand after my interview. Any help from those who had this kind of experience... Thanks

I see noone has replied to you so I'll attempt to help you. My interview was on Monday 19th April (last year) and I received my passport back on Friday 23rd April. I've seen people get theirs quicker and I've seen it take longer. I've also seen cases where people have been approved at interview only to find out later that there's been in an issue which has delayed the issuing of their visa even further.

Your best bet would probably be to do a timeline search. I know that in my timeline I have the date of my interview and the date my visa was received so you may want to look at the pattern for the last couple of months...

  4. Had my interview last Thursday and to say it was a breeze would be an understatement. The lady was lovely and it was basically a chat. She only really asked us how met and about the travelling back and forth. Alot of convo about teenagers (my daughter) and their musical "tastes" lol

I took quite a bit of evidence and she didn't even look at any of it. I was like "can you just look at something? Take something?!" she said I had so much in my file already there was no need. Finally, she gave in and said if you have wedding pictures I'll look at those (yay). So she looked at maybe two and complimented my dress and that was it.

Our appointment was for 10:15 (well, my daughter was 10:15 and I had 11:00). We got there at 9.35. At reception at 9.40 and out the door at 10.15.

    I'll do a review shortly...

Good luck CQ & CS - it is so straightforward :)

  5. lol - I laugh because I know that will be me. I'm literally applying to ANYTHING. I had a job interview on Monday for a job that I would LOVE but to be honest I'm not overly optimistic since I know the competition is magnificently stiff. Fingers crossed your husband will find something he enjoys soon.

Re SAVE... I never thought this would be an issue either until it happened! When I came back home I did a search on here and sure enough a few people in different states have had the same problem over the years. Oh well.

  6. EAD isn't really proof of lawful presence. You could be denied AOS, become deportable, and still have a valid EAD. Some states accept it as such, but some don't. You're still in limbo right now until you get the green card. Some have been successful in taking their NOAs and other documentation to show they're here legally. I know here in VA, they were accepting EAD as proof of lawful presence up until last September, and then the Governor issued an order that it was no longer enough. It blows. We're just waiting until my husband gets his green card, which is uh, kinda taking a while! We're almost outside standard processing time.

I understand that, however, I was told at the time I got my Licence in the first place that I needed my EAD not necessarily the Green Card to renew it that is what's annoying. It seems that the issue is that SAVE hasn't been updated to reflect the EAD rather than the issue being that I have an EAD and not a Green Card.

Just had a look at your timeline... yeah, seems pretty slow especially considering I see one or two in the December filings saying AOS has been approved. All very strange.

I hope your husband is enjoying his job :)

  7. EADs and APs arrived on Saturday 18th, and just got my state DL, so SSN (for kiddy) and job hunt time now.

Did you already have your SSN? I took my driving test when I got here... obviously the DL expired with my I-94. So when I got my EAD I went to renew and they told me that "they couldn't confirm my lawful presence". Is this because my Maiden name is in SAVE? I'm not understanding...in fact I'm annoyed. Anyway, they put in some request and said to come back in five days HOWEVER I've been reading on here how it's taken some people at least two months to have been updated #######?

Good luck with the job hunting (me, you and everyone else that's looking!). Congrats to all that are done with the process!

CQ & CS that sucks! :( but at least you have your other documents :)

  8. Progress!

My wife's EAD card production was ordered today and she got the message that they were mailing her AP approval letter today. Is this AP approval letter the document we're looking for? I mean, I know why we applied. The question is really 'should we expect something else, or is the letter the Advanced Parole document itself?'

We should get our EAD's around the same time then. I'm not as worried about my AP as I'm not really planning to go home until around summer.

Some December filers have had AP/EAD approved. Where is mine :crying: ???????

Hopefully, your approval is near too

  9. Hey Miss Jess,

Can I suggest having a look at CITY DATA. Great site. It's a forum but for various cities. I'm in Atlanta and I go on there peridiocally just because it's interesting. It may be an idea when you have your top 5 to read up those forums and ask questions. The people in the Atlanta forum seem friendly and there's a thread in there where people say what they are looking for (cost, in town or out of town etc.) and they suggest places. Not sure how friendly the other city forums are as I haven't been in there but I hope you find it useful all the same......

    ETA: correct typo

  10. Bet you won't find very many Caucasians in the entire list!. . .we are in the mid-west and same issue here what we thought was available for under $300 as suggested in the USCIS site they are charging upwards from $450 to $850. within an hour of our address. . . and we located one who said that he was willing to do it for about $150, so of course we drove 4 hours to see him and ended paying $210. . . .Not a one could speak English fluently!

What point you are trying to make?

  11. Can anybody let me know please if they recived interview letter from los angeles lately i filed on novmber 3 2010 and no word from them yet. I am so worried Thanks

I'm not in LA but there's been no visible movement on my case. Whilst quite a few people here have received their EAD's or notifications/Interview appointments and even Greencards....there's been nothing on my end.

I contacted my Senator. They said my case is now being reviewed...so we'll wait and see I guess :(

I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ready to work now :(
