  1. Well, I am officially a month over the normal processing time for Atlanta.  Something tells me my file has not made it to my local ASC, but I have made an infopass appointment for next week and hopefully I will have some answers.

I have also uploaded my I551 stamp (since my GC expired in April) as well as my DL to see if it generates any movement.

Did any one get a message like below

"we determined that your issue will be best addressed by the uscis office processing your case; therefore, we are forwarding your inquiry to the national benefits center"

I applied on 05/09/2020 and was following up in email and got a response as above. My ASC is Charleston, SC.  Not sure what it means or next steps

Hmmm! Did you file online (Which would be where your initial appliation went NSC).

I wonder if some our applications haven't even made it to our local ASC's yet and that is what the hold up is.  I am on month 17 now. Still waiting!!

Wow 15 months is a long wait - wonder whats taking that long. hope yours get moving soon

Yeah I agree there is no rhyme or reason. It appears the applications based on 5 year residency is taking much longer

I agree, it seems that way!  I had my GC for 9 yrs by the time I filed, I had this crazy idea it would go faster the longer I waited. HA!

Hello - I applied online on 3/22 and received bio metric reuse notice the same day. No movement since then - anyone who has similar timelelines? My n400 is based on 5 year Green Card Residency. I see some of the members here who applied in April are already approved. Any info/direction is appreciated

I am sorry to say there is no rhyme or reason to the processing.

I have been waiting since May 15th 2020 for a date.  Filing on a 5 year residency.

Unfortunately we all just have to wait our turn.   The processing time on the site for Atlanta is 13-17.5 years if that helps anything.

    Sending in an e-request.

    I filed online May 6th, 2020.

Bio reuse notice Jan 20th, 2021. No update since then.

I am an Iowa resident so I'd be going to Des Moines for anything further, I would assume.

The receipt date for an inquiry is July 30th, 2020, so I'm safe to do so now.

The "estimated time range' is 8.5 Months to 12.5 Months. I'm now in month 15.

I just want to be done.

    Thats great!

I just looked and the Atlanta office processing times went down by 4 months and so did the receipt date.  It's still in April of 2020, but it was Nov 2019 last week.

    Fingers crossed for us all.

  6. Canadian here:  Filed for my N400 base on 5 year GC May 15th 2020.  No progress has been made and have had to get an I551 stamp due to my GC expirng during the process.

I myself have an inclination that Candians are waiting longer than usual, I am on two forums one for May Filers and one for Atlanta (my city) filers and there are clearly some descrepencies on the processsing times for Canadians right now.  IMO

I got through the initial GC process quite quickly back in 2008, it was very fast and easy despite two RFE's which were items USCIS messed up on my file.

    It is quite frustrating.

Well everyone, a week has passed and we're still at "Things are taking longer than expected." It was counting down the days 10 days ago, now back to waiting. *eye roll*

Is it worth to send an e-request/inquiry asking what's going on?

The state where I reside - Iowa - has an estimated time range of 8.5 to 15 months. We're now in the 15th month.

The receipt date for a case inquiry is April 24, 2020. I applied May 6th, 2020. Does that mean I should wait?

    Estimated

Hey, I would assume so. (Atlanta processing receipt date is Nov 2019).  I have sent a message every month since May 15 2021 (1 year from my filing date) and i get the same message.  " I have to wait till after the receipt date posted on local processing times"  Super frustrating.

    Hopefully we hear something soon.

Hi. Sorry to bother you...you mentioned in your post that you got a stamp. Are you taking about the I-551 stamp? My green card expires in September and still waiting for my interview to be scheduled. How do I get a stamp to extend my green card in case I need to travel before my citizenship gets approved. Thank you!

    Hey there.

No bother at all.  According to them you have to be within the 30 day window of your GC expiring to make the appointment.  In my case by the time I was able to reach someone my GC had expired (by a day) so i got bumped to "Urgent" and was able to get an appointment almost immediately.  I am not sure if the rules are different in different cities, but I was not able to use the online appointment request.

I actually sent a message from USCIS account and they sent me a number to call and I got an IO after a brief hold and an appointment for the I551 within two days.

    I hope this helps somewhat.

I will be traveling abroad with it next month so can update on the experience of using the stamp. I am now at 14 months since i filed and have not had any progress on my case so far... just trying to be patient.

I don't know, the whole system, especially since the start of COVID, has been so unpredictable.

Some of us have been waiting over a year and others that applied this year are already done! I don't get it.

I procrastinated and waited 10 years to apply so another month or so doesn't really bother me.

    I agree!

I did the same, waited 9 years to file and I am going on 14 months wait time and had to get a I551 stamp. HA!

I think we got the same bio re use date so here's hoping something is coming soon.

Hey all.  Just checking in with my progress, or lack thereof. *grumble*
Applied online under 5yr rule: May 6th 2020
Bio reuse notice: Jan 20 2021
No updates since receiving bio reuse. I'm thinking it might be time for a case inquiry.
When I do log in I get the "Things are taking longer than expected. You do not need to do anything at this time" message on my case.
It's frustrating as people who have this year are already finished and I'm here waiting over a year for any movement. *sigh* 😕
I know COVID is still affecting things, but jeez.
    *Apologies for the mild rant*

    I am right there with you;

My case progress time has gone down to 4 months (of course these aren't always reliable).   Other than talking to the IO when I had to get the stamp and him telling me I am in line for an interview letter.

Also applied online under 5yr with a name change (reverting back to my maiden name). Got the Bio reuse on the same day Jan 20, 2021.

I see people who filed in January getting their interviews and am like WTHeck?   HA!

Oh well...me ranting as well.  It has to be coming to an end soon though. Fingers crossed.

    Hello Atlanta filers,

So looking at the progress in here and it seems that Atlanta office barely moving, or people in this forum are not updating their status?!

    I filed N400 on 04/26/2021

    Bio reused  04 /26/2021

    Thanks.

I think the Atlanta office is just moving very, very slow.

    filed N400: May 15, 2020

    Bio reused notice: Jan 20

    And nothing.

  12. Hi All,

So, I log in as usual and it seems the site has completely changed and it now won't let me log in without verifying my identity with a DOS case #.  Nothing is showing, not my case, updates, documents tab or anything.

I am 14 months into my N400 application,  and i recieved my GC while here in the US so from what I understand I wouldn't have gotten one.  Anyone with any suggestions on how to get into my account?

I am getting real frustated and tired of all this!

  13. I don't know if this helps at all, but my GC expired while my N400 is in process. (I filed a year before my expireation date).

I was able to get the 1 year 551 stamp very easily (I am traveling out of the Country on it in August).  If your N400 is in process then I hope you won't need more than a 1YR extension instead of having to pay to apply for a GC renewal.

One other thing; you cannot travel overseas with an expired GC. Even if your N400 is in process, I checked.

I just got my oath ceremony today and finished my process.

The ceremony is really quick, no singing National Anthem or photo with the judge due to Covid. Also, no one allowed to attend the ceremony. It was only 25 of us in the hall today.

For everyone who applied, hang in there!

    Congratulations.

Out of curiosity; did you file based on 3 yr or 5yr?

  15. It looks like it depends on the way that you file as well...3 yr or 5 yr!  I did get this update yesterday (Filed May 15, 2020- Bio Reuse Jan 20, 2021)

    Estimated time* until case decision:

    approx. 5 months

*These completion projections are based on case processing for applicants who have been lawful permanent residents for at least 5 years. For all other applicants, completion projections may vary.

Just checking in to say that as of today, it's been exactly one year since I filed the N400. At this point all I've received is a "bio reuse" notice (back in February) and nothing more. The wait continues...

Nothing yet!  I am in the same boat, I filed on May 15, 2020 and recieved my resue January 20, 2021.  I am two days over the 1 year mark.

I am hoping I wil be in the the 13 month windo wand not the 23 month window (The processing times for the Atlanta office).

I had my interview today in the morning. It went well overall. The officer started asking me about my travels outside the country. She said that I was using my B2 Visa that is on my passport and it looks like I quit my permanene residency. I told her I had no clue about that, I always used my green card and my passport to travel and I had no clue what the officers at the airport were looking at and what they stamped in my passport and then she said that it looks like somebody else had the same Alien number than mine, at that point I was petrified and had no response to all of this, then she asked me to step out the room that she had to call the supervisor. 5 minutes after she called me back and kept asking me about my travels out of the country until she said, ok let's proceed with the interview. She asked name, address, wife's name, kid's name, for how long have we been married, phone numbers, and 2019 taxes. Then she asked me if I wanted to be interviewed as a 5 year petitioner, she said that way I don't have to show her any paperwork ( 😐  ) I said yes ok. Then she started with the Yes and No questions, She tested my English - writing and reading, and then she proceeded to the civics, history questions, she made 5 questions and that was it. She asked me if I knew what a Oath of allegiance was and then she made me sign the Form N-652 whch she marked the box A) Congratulations! your application has been recommended for approval. and then she said that's it, I did not have nothing to do but wait.

Hours later I checked my case in my computer and Found this 👇👇👇👇👇👇  . I hope everything goes well. I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel, but lets wait for the letter ! I still anxious hehe !

    Filed N400 online : May 25 2020
    Biometrics reuse : August 08 2020
since then : zip! No status update and no official notifications/documents

I did for a while have an estimated completion date mid march 2021. That date blew through with nothing happening, since then I've had no updates or new estimates. However, like many, I've seen various odd banner messages and displays briefly appear on the website - including lack of all case info(!), "Request for evidence" and other strange messages - all of which came and disappeared without explanation or fanfare. Watching this forum, I've seen others with similar messages, so in absence of other correspondence, I put these down to technical glitches. For example, I currently have the "Your N-400 personalized processing time is down for maintenance" message like others.

After the last odd message (the RFE) I reached out to the technical desk at USCIS asking if it was a website issue, or an issue with my application. They couldn't check anything, so they opened a case. Somebody did call me back and raised a service request with my local office (Memphis). I got an email back from the local office for the SR, and it says:

    <quote>
    What We Have Done:
USCIS has reviewed your Service Request and determined that your application is currently in the pre-processing stage. After the pre-processing stage is complete, your file will be scheduled for an interview. No further action is required from you at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by delays in processing.

    What You Can Do:
If you do not receive a decision or notice of other action within 90 days, please contact the USCIS Contact Center at the phone number below. In the interim, if you need to replace or renew an existing Permanent Resident Card, please refer to the Form I-90 (Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card) instructions for further information.

We hope this information is helpful to you. We appreciate your continued patience.
    <end quote>

Anyone have any clues what this really means or where it leaves me? And does "pre-processing" just mean my case is now in the "In-tray" on the local office desk, and they just haven't gotten to me yet? I guess I just wait it out until mid-June at which point my case is outside of normal processing (unless USCIS change the processing times again, which has already pushed this date back for me twice in the last month). Then, I could at least raise a SR to that effect...

Any knowledge/experience anyone can give, very gratefully received!

    551 Stamp Rec: April 19, 2021

I am not sure there is anything to do but wait tbh.   I am in the same boat (actually worse 'cause my GC expired this month while waiting), I was able to get an extension stamp and while there I asked to check the status and he was really nice but just said that my file was in queue for an interview date and I have to wait for the letter.

Sorry, i don't have any actual helpful advice. Just that we are all in the same boat, waiting and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to their processing.  I have a friend who filed in June of 2020 (she has her 10 YR card and filed based on 5YR and is also changing back to her maiden name) and has already had her interview and is waiting on the oath cermony so...

  19. Thank you!

I got the 1 YR extension stamp this morning.  It took longer for me to drive there than it took for the appointment, HA!    Appointment was at 9:55AM, got there at 9:35.  There were only two people in front of me in the queue, i got called within about 5 minutes of sitting down.  Really nice IO, he looked up my file and stamped my passport, gave a quick punch hole to my expired GC. I was driving out of the parking lot at 9:58.

I did ask if there was any info on my interview date (didn't hurt to ask), He just said I was in queue and to wait for a letter. No new information but felt nice to hear it from someone actually looking at my file.. LOL
