Good afternoon all. Hope you're having a great day. My husband's visa status changed to issued today so we're expecting it to be ready for pick up soon.

All the best to those still on the journey. Please keep us posted. As new interviews begin to go out, remember we are here to help with any questions you may have or direction you may need.

    Woot woot congratulations 🎊

Sorry this is about to be long.

Okay hun so here are some factors I had to consider when approaching the medical with my hubby.

My husband was smoking straight up until we got the email that he got his interview date. Smh I didn’t even think about the medical having a drug test ( 🤦🏽‍♀️). So now I was in panic mode because I knew he only had about 45 days before he had to do his medical.

So for a chronic smoker (like smoking every day or several times a day - like my hubby was doing). It was very important that he stopped smoking AT LEAST 30-45 days from his medical to give him a chance at passing. He’s a pretty skinny dude so he could get away with that time frame. But if he had more fat on him he would need 60-90 days at least because THC sticks to your fat cells. He was doing lots of physical activity to sweat and burn off any fat which would get rid of the thc and transfer it to his kidneys which is why then he needed to drink lots of water/ water with lime/ cranberry juice/ coconut water - all those things was helping to really flush his system.  So that wa s important for him to get rid of all that built up THC that a urine or hair follicle test would pick up. Now all he had to do was not smoke at all and he wouldn’t add any new thc into his body that a urine/blood/ saliva test would pick up. He messed up like 15 days out from our medical and smoked. So it’s like he reset his clock. Luckily our medical was pushed another two weeks for some personal reasons so it gave him some more time to detox. He barely was taking any of the detox pills I sent for him ( 🙄🙄). But I knew he was not smoking, he was still hanging out with people who smoked, but not everyday, he started to keep to himself after a while. He was working on his farm so he was sweating a lot, he was drinking tons of water and getting adequate rest. All things important for detoxing drugs out your system.

Come medical day he just went in with a prayer that he had gotten it out of his system enough that the test won’t detect it. Because they can find THC in your blood or urine but it has to pass a specific threshold mark for it to be alerted that you have drugs in your system and you failed the test. So once your levels are low enough you good.

I was praying when he went to his interview last week that they didn’t say he failed his medical. But we were approved so that means he passed. He is on his way to pick up his visa right now.

** Something to note: Now for a chronic smoker  THC can be detected in the hair follicle the longest ( like 90 days ). Urine is about 30 days, blood a 2-3 days and just hours for a one time smoker. Saliva is the easiest to pass because it doesn’t stay in the saliva but for a few hours. (And this is time frames after there last smoke, so if a chronic smoker smoked his last spliff 90 days ago a hair follicle test can still pick it up, and so on for the rest of the test and time frames)

So I knew if he could just stay clean for about 30-45 days and get all that built up THC out his system he would be good. If you just stop smoking and do nothing else (like taking detox pills and those extra measures) and let the built up THC leave your body naturally it can take like 60-90 days for you to possibly pass a drug test. I only know all of this stuff because I have to administer drug test for employers at the clinic I worked at.

    But yea thats my story.

Tell hubby to keep his head up, to continue refraining from smoking. Keep to himself if he has to. You can send him some at home drug kits (amazon has them for a couple bucks) that way he can know he’s negative. So when they pop up and do random drug Test he’s in the clear. I pray y’all stay strong through this.

Oh my i wish i have known this information like last year this time, my husband is not fat but build, i screenshot this information and sent it to him..thank you very much..its so helpful..God bless you and yours.. 🙏

Sorry to hear that hun, I’ll be praying for you guys, the wait was already hard and then to be hit with this. Jah jah. That was one of my biggest concerns going in as well. He stopped smoking only like a month and a half before the medical and I had to send down a whole bunch of detox stuff for him including some at home test kits. Straight up until the day of the medical the test kits weren’t reading positive confidently. So I was super concerned he didn’t pass the medical. Smh that’s a really tough one hun. So sorry for real man smh 😔😔😔. Praying God give y’all strength to go through this hurdle 💪🏾

Yayyy congrats! Yea mon God a smile down on you. Do road! 🥳🥳🥳🥳

Yes swan c this is one of the hardest situation i had to deal with besides losing a love one..i think it showed up in his bloodstream..he said he stop smoking in August of 2019 so idk..am out of words right now..congratulations ms.canty..

    Hi Guys

Finally i had my interview yesterday. DQ was June 18 and first interview scheduled on Sept 18 and got rescheduled to 24 Nov at 8am.

Reached embassy at 7.30 am and completed all screening process without any issue.

Front desk gave me the token and entered the waiting room where they have collected Birth certificate, marriage certificate, PCC and Tax transcripts.

Exactly 9.00 am , the consular called me and she is more friendly and guided me with the interview process.

       -Who is filing for you?

       -What is her name?

-When was the last time you spoke?

-What state does your wife reside in, and with who?

       -How often you visited?

-When was the last time you saw each other?

-Was there a reason you guys haven't seen since then?

       -Questions about employment/position?

-Have you ever traveled out of the country?

       -Have you ever been convicted?

       -How big was your wedding?

-Was your medical completed, and when?

She was trying to pull other documents from the system and asked me to wait for few minutes.

She took my visitor visa page and stamped it as cancelled.

After few minutes, she said your interview went well and you are good to go now and everything is ok. we will process your visa.

Gave back the Birth certificate, marriage certificate and domestic violation paper and kept the passport with her.

She mentioned You will get an email about the courier details for the passport/Visa. Wished for safe travel and advised to stay safe in US.

No other documents asked and it was quite productive discussion and the consular made more comfortable during the entire interview process.

So, finally i have completed 11 months of waiting period. Currently, in the CEAC portal the status got changed from "Ready" to "Administrative processing". No form 221g issued or any instructions to provide more information nor did the immigration officer tells me that my visa application requires further processing. Hope everyone has gone through the same situation after the interview. I request the persons who have attended the interview to give clarity on the status update from Ready to AP.

Thank you all and thanks for your guidance. I hope i will get my visa back very soon.

All the Best for those waiting for their interview.

    Congratulations 🎉
