Hello Guys- I need some assistance- My case is Ir-1

Do I need to get Nadra Marriage certifcate (QuaideAzam Backgroud picture wala) Translated as well? It already has an english part- I got my urdu one translated but not sure about this one

Also My Wife (Petitioner) was born in karachi and is a Us citizen by naturalization- Do I need her Original birth certificate (Copy) and its translation as well since it was a manual one? I heard you don't need petitioner birth certificate if IR-1

No, you don't need to translate the NADRA marriage certificate since it has both English and Urdu. You may keep your petitioner's birth certificate just in case they ask for it but usually they don't ask for it. At least they didn't ask in our case. They only asked for applicant's birth certificate.

@Kuchiki I'm so happy to see your post welcome back to this thread u can help members here bcuz ur family here for a long time and hopefully life together is going well for you guys after that long painful immigration journey.🙏🏽🤞

Thank you :) it feels good to be back on this forum. Phew those 5 years though...they were no joke tbh. Alhumdulilah all is well now.  Hope you're doing good too @podeena 🙂

Just want to convey my best wishes to all those who are patiently waiting to be reunited with their spouses. I know long distance relationships are not for the faint of heart but if you truly want to be with your spouse, you'll overcome all the obstacles in this immigration journey. It will be worth it in the end. Best of luck to all those who are waiting for their interviews at ISL embassy and congrats to all those who got their visas approved.

Hey guys I have a question. Someone raised concerns about their tax return being filed single on a visa chat forum. I went to Jackson Hewitt every year and told them I'm married to a pakistani and trying to bring him to the States and they filed me as single every year. Is this a problem? I assumed not cause I'm documentarily qualified so the NVC approved my tax returns (tax transcripts I should say)

Taxes should have been filed as 'Married filing Seperately' instead of Single.

For the polio vaccine.  use a government hospital(PIMS) and then get a Nadra verified polio certificate. get this before the immigration medical exam.

Spouse got the polio vaccine from CDA Medical Centre in Islamabad (Govt hospital) and already downloaded her NADRA polio vaccination certificate too.

Just bear in mind AMC will take at least 6 hours of your time if not more because they are flooded with clients not only from Islamabad but Afghan applicants who are bound for Australia, UK or the US since there is no designated medical panel in the entirety of KP. Fill out the medical form online once they set you up with the appointment and provide you with the 4 digit pin. That will save you some time. If you're near Lahore or can go to Lahore, I would suggest to go to Lahore's for medical because they have a bunch of medical facilities.

Thank you for the advice. I have already applied online for the medical appointment at AMC. Now waiting for their appointment confirmaton. Will do as you said once i receive the 4 digit pin.

    Thanks !

We used their Website for scheduling the medical appointment.

As in you registered online on their website for scheduling the medical appointment? Let me know when your spouse receives their medical appointment confirmation email from Aziz Medical Centre. Because I did the same. Applied online. They weren't picking calls though.

It doesn't expire.  No need to update.  If some important information has changed like an address or something, just deal with it in person.  What needs to be updated is the Affidavit of Support.  With this much time passing, complete and upload a new one with current information.

Thank you! Also a side question, my spouse got her last covid shot (fully vaccinated + booster shot) in July 2022. Almost 2 years have elapsed since, is her covid certificate still valid to schedule her medical appointment? or she needs to get a new one?

Would really appreciate your feedback 🙏.

@Kuchiki did you get your IL yet ?🙏🤞

Did your spouse call the designated medical centre for scheduling the appointment or did they go on their website and registered for e-medical?

Hello guys update. My husband had interview today. I did go to the interview with him and was allowed in the shuttle but not inside the embassy. There were a lot of petitioners there with spouse or parents but were not allowed inside.

they didn’t ask him much questions only a few questions about where I live and about our son. My husband took our passports with him.  They only checked our original birth certificates and marriage certificates.

he was told by the counselor it’s approved and he’ll receive his passport in two weeks. online it says AP processing I hope it’s not one of those lengthy process.

Thank you for clarifying that petitioners can't accompany the applicants to the interview.

And congrats for your spouse's verbal visa approval. Best of luck for the remainder.

The language options are English and Urdu . And my spouse only speaks Pashto. Even the bus shuttles services don’t speak or understand Pashto language.

Call the embassy and inform them that your wife only speaks pashto and would be needing you as an interpreter. Do this asap before her interview. Good luck.

  11. 14 minutes ago, Sikander321 said:

For the interpreter do I have to fill up a form or i just have to inform the security that I’m a US citizen and the interpreter of my wife for the interview

Can your spouse speak Urdu? If yes, then she can always opt for 'interview in Urdu' before her actual interview. The officer will ask before interview regarding the choice of the interview language, English or urdu.

You do not need to accompany your wife as an interpreter unless she has a speaking disability in which case a sign language interpreter is allowed to accompany her. You can only accompany her till the waiting area of the shuttle service. I hope it's clear now.

In case your wife does not speak English or Urdu, then you need to contact the consulate by email or phone and let them know that you will be accompanying her as an interpreter since she cant speak English or Urdu.

US citizen is allowed to the embassy.

Just checked the official guidelines from the travel.state website regarding accompanying persons for Islamabad embassy as of 2023. Attached is the screenshot from the document. It clearly states only two instances where a person can accompany the applicant.

That is not true what kuchiki said.

    are you the US citizen?

I petitioned for my wife ( as a US citizen) and when it was her interview date at Islamabad embassy, I went with her. When her turn came they called her to the glass window. First question they asked her was when did she last saw her husband. She said this morning. They asked oh he is here and she said yes. They completely ignored her after that and called me to the window and asked me few basic questions about my work and that’s it.
Actually I highly highly recommend going to the interview because that guarantees this a valid marriage. I m saying this as someone who personally did it at the Islamabad embassy.

And when did your wife's interview take place? Was it recent? Generally embassies do not allow unless there's a valid reason for petitioner to accompany the applicant to the interview. Rules keep on changing though.
