  1. Yeah I was getting kind of confused reading. I forgot why Wael was saying those things and when I realized it was still b/c of the signature, I had to giggle. But at least Mrs SNL isn't that bad a of a nickname.

Wael-a signature is the same in any thread, since it attaches to the bottom of every post for that person(maybe you already know that). If they have a funny signature, it's going to show up in any thread, and it doesn't mean they are joking around in that specific thread. I think you are really misunderstanding the whole signature thing.

hey Mrs funny comments , or should we call you Mrs Genius regarding your very sharp observations here !

fortunately i have a signature as you see , so unfortunately your very precious information is valueless .

and Dodlebug , while i'm not a Jack Handy fan .. methink he is an idiot , but thanx for the link anyway

As far as JENN and SARAH, I think they are ok.

    Um, thanks?

now i havent laughed this hard is a long time.

Hahaha me neither since yesterday when that guy thought my SNL quote meant that I was literally carrying two sacks so that I didn't have to help anyone.

    you know what !

that's really funny and SAD in the same time how some people like you think of people from other countries ......

since i'm from Egypt that doesn't mean i haven't watch some of SNL (Saturday Night Live).. thanx GOD for the satellite and the open skies .

BUT to me ... when someone is using a ( QUOTE ) somehow it reflex who they are .. as i'm not surprise that yet you couldn't see that as you still not able to see many other things .

yeah, i remember way back when, sarah being utterly shocked that they even had electricity in egypt.

but really, sometimes quotes are just quotes-meant to be humourous and nothing else. my using sopranos or dr. house quotes in the past doesn't reflect who i am, just what i watch on tv and find entertaining. accusing me then of being in the mafia or being a jerk addicted to vicodin would be just as silly as your ridiculous accusations against sarah.

while i hate to go on and on talking about something which is not the subject of this thread but i think i will have to ....

just a little clearance .. i'm not the one who used to accuse people whatever they say or do , and i think it's clear to everbody here who is the one who insist on accusing the others .

when i looked at the tittle of this Topic ( Pity Party ) .. i simply got to the conclusion that it's for people who stuck in the AP for many months .. for people who got sick of being apart .. for people who see how unfair this process is going on and on , etc .................

and i notice that neither you nor Mrs SNL have any kind of these issues but anyway it happens sometimes the wrong people come to the wrong party !!!

No really, you're kidding me, right? Who ARE YOU!?

unfortunately NO , i'm NOT kidding you ...

first .. i don't know you to kidd with you

second .. when someone says ( PITY PARTY ) so it's not suppose to be a place for JOKES

    and about .. WHO AM I ?

since you have asked this question before here in this thread and since i have answred you so i think we are about another issue here , methink it could be ZAHAIMER or something and so you may do us a favor and read the whole thread every time before you make a post instead of asking the same questions over and over again .

  5. I know nothing about you and I find it very interesting that you know enough about me to pass such judgements. My signature is A JOKE and I think it is funny. Who are you?

i don't know any thing about you either , only your post here in this thread and your signature "the JOKE"

i'm someone in the AP hell for more than 4 months .

and fortunately i don't carry two sacks .. i make sure to have a free hand most of the time to help anyone even before he asks for my help .

What is there to bite your tongue about? I am trying to help you out but you can't see that.

To me, it's always a good idea to carry two sacks of something when you walk around. That way, if anybody says, 'Hey, can you give me a hand?,' you can say, 'Sorry, got these sacks.

your own signature is so clear BUT i wish you did it and say ['Sorry, got these sacks ] instead of trying to "help" this time !

My signature is a Jack Handey quote from SNL so I really have no idea what you are even talking about. Thanks.

i'm not surprised that you don't have any idea what i'm talking about , coz i wasn't surprised at the first place when i saw that you didn't have any idea what anybody here in this thread was talking about !

I can attest that e-mails occassionally get placed in the wrong mailbox by filters, killed by spamfilters, or just plain lost.

It normally doesn't happen - but when it does, it's the important message you sent out.

If you don't get a response within like 48-72 hours, you should just re-send the message.

that's right but you know what .. that respond i got couple of minutes later after sending the second email , you can see that it was acutally a respond to my FIRST e-mail .

    Ahh ... so I see.

I could tell you a secret about the e-mailing net-based workplace. When service e-mails pile up ... and there's 200 messages to respond to ... the person who emailed 5 times makes the workload go down by 5 with a single response. Keep it to daily e-mails or twice a day (once early, once late). Just pressing the button multiple times doesn't look good.

    tell you a secret :secret:

the secon time when i went to DHL office to give them the passport , it sounded like they were not welling to help ...

so i told the girl who works there ( why it seems like i'm the only one who cares about that poor guy's passport while i should be the last one to cares about it ? ) theni gave her these options

1- i will leave the passport here on the office and leave .

2- i will take the passport and go back home and would go into a deep sleep and won't bother myself anymore .

3- :bonk: i would leave the office now , get that guy phone number from the phone book , will call him and tell him that i got his passport by mistake BUT i will ask him to make a police report and state the whole problem and then will need to return his passport thru the police station to make sure that everything has been documented :bonk:

this last option scared her .. she called the head office and i believe they called their DHL office in the embassy and that's why i got email a couple of minutes later .

as you see it seems like there was nothig about the system or the e-mailing net-based workplace :pop:

  10. Good Luck Bad Luck!

There is a Chinese story of a farmer who used an old horse to till his fields. One day, the horse escaped into the hills and when the farmer's neighbors sympathized with the old man over his bad luck, the farmer replied, "Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?" A week later, the horse returned with a herd of horses from the hills and this time the neighbors congratulated the farmer on his good luck. His reply was, "Good luck? Bad luck? Who knows?"

Then, when the farmer's son was attempting to tame one of the wild horses, he fell off its back and broke his leg. Everyone thought this very bad luck. Not the farmer, whose only reaction was, "Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?"

Some weeks later, the army marched into the village and conscripted every able-bodied youth they found there. When they saw the farmer's son with his broken leg, they let him off. Now was that good luck or bad luck?

    Who knows?

1-when the horse escaped into the hills .. ( bad luck ) .. coz the farmer had to till the field by himself for a whole week .

2-when the horse returned with a herd of horses from the hills .. ( bad luck ) .. coz the farmer needs to feed a herd of horss while he acutally needs one horse to do the work .

3- when the farmer's son fell off the horse back and broke his leg and was not able to join the army ..( bad luck ) coz probably he is going to be the village joke and will be ashamed that he is the only one who didn't join the army .

Everything that seems on the surface to be an evil may be a good in disguise. And everything that seems good on the surface may really be an evil. So we are wise when we leave it to God to decide what is good fortune and what misfortune, and thank him that all things turn out for good with those who love him.

    i must agree

  11. I don't think it's only the name hit that causes the delays................my husband's security clearance started the beginning of May and ended the first week in June............whenever I call DOS they say that security clearances have been completed and that they don't see any reason why the embassy cannot issue the visa.

Mohamed is a very common name and there are Mohamed's who obtain visas from many consulates in and out of MENA. There are a few notorious embassies, however, that process papers at the pace of snails...........In addition to name checks, I think inefficiency also has a lot to do with the delays we're seeing.

the security clearance is more than a (name check) .. fingerprint check & criminal record & ........ etc

that's why it may take several weeks at the DOS even if there is no name hit .

it depends on what kind of security check the embassy has requested ..

at the DOS & FBI .. it may take a few (days-weeks) before they even start working on it .. coz when they receive the security check request , your case takes a turn in the role .. depends on how many cases before you in the role !

sometimes i thought that Casa don't follow these long steps .. but at least that's how it goes here in Egypt .

  12. QUOTE(the sparrow @ Sep 16 2007, 07:05 AM)

Advance Parole sounds like something having to do with jail, doesn't it?

Advance Parole is what AP means for a lot of people on VJ, because it's something a lot of people file after their SO arrives in the states and they want to travel back to their home country without being barred from entering the states upon arrival. Like the K1 is a one-time entry visa, so if they leave they can't come back without advance parole. It's something filed during AOS. It has nothing to do with the MENA AR/AP. (Isn't that a relief? lol)

very true about the k-1 ap. we applied for that with nessa just in case because we've seen some real horror stories on vj about the beneficiary not being able to leave the country in a family emergency.

for mena ap, i think ap means "another procedure" as there seems to be so many of them ya'll have to go thru.

for ME/NA it just means Administrative Process

  13. Hi All Fellow VJ'ers...

Just curious how long other couples who have a husband or fiance with the name of Mohamed (or any form of this name) have waited for security name clearance to complete?

My husband and I are going insane with this wait -- it is worse than the entire process before this point.... come on alreadyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!

the normal name clearance is not the hard part as it usually takes a couple of days .. but it gets bad when there is a name hit then it may takes several months for the clearance .

a very comon name maybe a supject for a name hit more than uncomon name .
