From i-864 instructions: You may include the net value of your home as an asset. The net value of the home is the appraised value of the home, minus the sum of any and all loans secured by a mortgage, trust deed, or other lien on the home. If you wish to include the net value of your home, then you must include documentation demonstrating that you own it, a recent appraisal by a licensed appraiser, and evidence of the amount of any and all loans secured by a mortgage, trust deed, or other lien on the home. You may not include the net value of an automobile unless you show that you have more than one automobile, and at least one automobile is not included as an asset.

I-864 and beneficiary's assets
PGA replied to earthbi's topic in Adjustment of Status from Work, Student, & Tourist Visas
In our case we had assets (all US based and exceeded the requirements) but at interview the guy wouldn't even consider them and my spouse received the 221g for a joint sponsor. Fortunately we had a co-sponsor on standby but it did add a few months or so to the process. I am sure there are a variety of possible reasons for this...in my case I lived in Peru with my spouse for years, there was 50+ pages of asset documents to look through (much easier for him to check a box on the 221g than look at all of that), or possibly they simply feel better knowing that someone besides the love-struck spouse or fiancé is willing to commit to the immigration process....but in the end, who knows? -
AoS or CR1/IR1 visa?

Get married, in the US or your country....then do the CR1....trust me...based on my experience, it's a much better option! -
221g to proof domicile
PGA replied to dastk's topic in Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)
Sorry for the late reply. Did you hear anything yet? However, this is a question that I cannot answer....every embassy/consulate is different, every case is different...some take longer, some shorter... -
Interview waiver for tourist visa applicants
PGA replied to EternalForeigner's topic in Tourist Visas
Who knows how they do their jobs...it varies greatly between countries.... I, personally, would assume an interview, especially if the country is Saudi Arabia. -
Yes, that is true....how much of a percentage of your paycheck are you willing to pay? How does that make your tax due any less? Essentially, you're just paying more over time....I'm old enough to remember being single and getting a tax return in the thousands of $$$, now I'm married with a child and I owe money... On a side note, I'm also old enough to remember when a car loan for 5 years was the norm....now we're at 6, and the max for a mortgage was 30 years, now we're heading to 40.

Well, that sucks....especially since you'll now just be paying more but over time. Just a prediction here, but I do believe in the next years those getting refunds today will no longer be getting refunds and will either break even or ➡️owe⬅️. The current government (and state governments who are spending wildly but will come to the federal government to make up the losses) just can't seem to stop spending money....particularly one party (but the other party isn't much better), but I digress. I'll check back next year....

Well, this year my spouse is not a NRA so we filed differently since last year. For tax year 2020 (filed in 2021) and 2021 (filed in 2022) we used Taxslayer with no problem for MFS as NRA with no SSN or ITIN; so unless they've made changes to the software that no longer allows for that, or the IRS changed rules since then, it should work. On a side note, I believe it allows you to open a free account and fill out the forms for free and even possibly file for free (depending on various factors) so I would recommend trying it and see.
