So I was due for my appointment right now. 10am. 30 minutes ago while on I-90, I received a call from the agent who was supposed to interview me and she told me my file had not arrived yet so she has to cancel the interview. Couldn't tell me when they could reschedule me. The anxiety at this point is killing me, thought all of this will be behind me today. This month marks 1 yr since I sent in my N400 application.

Can you please share your timeline?

I feel so bad for you. All this stress and now who knows when you will hear from them again. What a mess!!!

Hello just wanted to check if any January /February 2020 filers in Chicago office had any movement/notification or any update :)

Its dead silence on my case since biometrics back in February 25th, 2020

My case completion says November 1st 2020 and "we are taking longer......... " nothing else unfortunately

Nothing here. I spoke to the lady who helps a lot of people fill out applications and she also said that Chicago office is still processing 2019 and the interviews are only rescheduled. Nothing new. :(

I hope 2021 will bring more movement to Chicago.

    Hi everyone!

I shared my timeline earlier, but here's the summary:

    - Applied on Nov 23 2019

    - Original interview was scheduled for March 24, 2020

    - Rescheduled interview date - Oct 5, 2020

    Interview experience:

I was very nervous ( just the way I am), but the Officer I had made the whole process feel like a nice conversation. He was very welcoming and kind. I'm so relieved it's done !

The officer walked me into his office, his desk was behind a plastic shield. We had masks on the whole time except for when my picture was taken. He started with the civics, I answered first 6 questions. There was a small stumble on the question about one right of the US citizens. My answer was "to vote", but he wanted to hear "in federal elections" since apparently some states allow PRs to vote on particular matters. ( Take a note of that!)

He then continued going over my personal info, we added my new work place, he corrected some parts of the application I made a mistake in. Then yes and no questions.

I then reviewed the additions and signed.

He recommended my application for approval and said to call if I don't hear back in a few weeks. He said the oath is scheduled by another department, so he doesn't have info on that, but he hoped I will get the ceremony in time to be able to vote.

That's it :) He stressed that I'm not a US citizen yet, but said I should go celebrate with my husband.

Hope I get the final approval soon.

Let me know if you have any questions. I know how stressful it can be, will be happy to share anything I know.

    Congratulations!!!

I guess this whole journey had to end with a big boom. It was a rough rough 6 years of my life but hopefully with the end of dealing with USCIS better times are ahead. Thank you (all of you here) for being the friend that understands what you’re going through 😅 this forum has sure helped me a lot.

Congratulations... lucky you girls Msdynamite  and Giovanna.

I just had my interview and it was rough. I passed all the civics questions, but the officer didn’t seem to be happy from the second I walked in there. She grilled me on my divorce for a long time and said she would have to go thru my entire file again before she can make a decision on my approval or denial. Back to the waiting game it is. I’m so bummed.

What was her problem with your divorce? How long have you been married?

Hello is there any Chicago filer that got their new interview notice ( not re-schedule) ? From what I see and read most cities started scheduling those but not Chicago :( my timeline changed from September to November unfortunately

Highly doubt it. I am hoping that maybe maybe after the election they will start to schedule new ones.

In 2016 before election they put all other cases aside to process N-400 cases. Now it is the opposite. Why why why????

i am on a different forum as well. one of chicago filer filed in April 2019 and he is still waiting for the interview as well. USCIS claims they process the application on a first come first serve basis. There are people who got interview applied in December 2019. I think it has something to do with the background check. People are waiting for soo long and it seems they dont care.

To me it looks like they are still rescheduling cancelled interviews. I think people who applied in Dec happened to have one schedule before covid closing. I don't think they will start to schedule new one anytime soon especially that they didn't lay off people but cut operations which doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Plus don't forget there was "citizen training" scheduled in our office in Sept.

All of this hold up must be because of election year... most of dem states are terribly delayed.

No, seeing some movement for November and December 2019 after a long time brings hope.

I am also in that group and there is only 1 member you mention the interview but he also said that this is 3rd time they scheduled his imterview. Who else is getting interviews there? I can't find another one.

I had called our congressman to get help with getting infopass since our I-751 is pending and their office confirmed that Chicago is prioritizing canceled interview and EAD so N-400s that were not previously scheduled for interview will have to wait longer.

I heard they have whole floor just for N-400. This is ridiculous!!!! Why no congresman start to really dig and ask why... I start to think that it is on purpose because of election year... the same hold with other dem states....
