and is it the officer who finally decides if the case is approved or not. It felt like he might of not been a senior officer. Does he have to get permission from a senior before sending us the approval. Just wondering how the system works.

Was she told right after the interview if approved or not? We were only told to expect something in the mail sometime soon. Status online has changed to Case is being reviewed.

In fact the IO can decline your interview if spouse does not attend, has happened in many cases. Can it also be that all the interviews that were waived but not yet approved before the new admin are now being done this way for efficiency. I don't remember reading many cases where just one spouse were called in unless it was a stokes interview. It was sitting outside scared for my wife as she is emotional not used to being interrogated.

Forgot to mention the IO did ask if you have any suppoting evidence to add, she gave a bunch, like comingling of finances, joint taxes filed, pictures, affidavits, health insurance cards, auto policy, IO did not care for pictures but he took the rest papers and scanned them. My wife had her state ID as well that the IO looked at. My wife also had her picture taken and both hand index fingerprints taken after the oath.

So my wife just had her AOS Interview, and the IO called her name, we both get up, but IO says to me he only needs to see my wife for now. She goes in, gets asked some common questions (name, dob, marriage, etc), then the yes/no questions from i485, and then she gets told "we will let you know by mail in a few weeks". I did not even get to go in with her. isn't this weird, what do you guys think of this, is this good for us or bad in some way.

Thank you guys. My interview went fine. Luck for us, the lady behind the counter was kind hearted. Most questions or documents we thought would be asked were not. Even the original divorce decree was not asked. Questions about my previous k1 and why we divorced were not even mentioned, just the date of divorce was asked and if I filed for divorce after meeting her. Other than this, it was just like a normal k1 visa interview. One thing I think helped us enormously is the fact that I visited her during the interview and was there 1 week before. They asked to see pictures of this visit and my fiancé said they confirmed a few times if I truly am here. Thanks guys for the help. Hopefully this helps the next person going through a situation like mine.

In my initial k1 packet, I send along a screenshot of my fiancé with a ring on her hand, and wrote in caption that I got her a ring before I left. No ceremonies or engagements were done. Will this cause issues in Mumbai embassy? Also, she is a Hindu and I'm a Sikh. Do they question this as well?

Just wondering if anyone from India had their second k1 approved or even third. It seems its a common thing in the Philippines and very rare in other embassies like India. Is India much harder than Philippines?

So I filed for my first ever k1 in 2020, she arrived to usa in dec 2021. we got married 2 months later, she got her GC around june 2022, we got divorced in dec 2022. so the marriage almost lasted 1 year. she is still here in usa finishing her medical degree and going about her life. I have not read of another multiple filer whose ex is still in the usa and their new k1 got approved. I applied for my second k1 in feb 2023, and we are close to interview and im just wondering how much scrutiny will we face due to the previous k1 and divorce? and if any special paperwork or evidence we should prepare for. Furthermore I want to know if something similar happened to someone and if their second k1 got approved?
