I put this clipped inside an 11x17 to protect the tabs at the bottom.  We've already been approved, fiance now husband, I have no idea if the IO cared about our application assembly or if anyone here will be able to point out anything I should have done differently.  But here is my example.  We included a separate chat log and I now know, from spending so much time on Visajourney, that I submitted WAY TOO MANY CHATS - lol.  I mention that because I saw your other question in a different thread. For the interview I sent my fiance in with 5 pages of chat excerpts of important conversations throughout our relationship (marriages, illness, deaths, what our future would look like, birthdays, holidays).

Thank you! this is what I was looking for!

That is definitely fluff, so don't include it. They are just doing their job.

I do believe that frontloading with evidence is a good idea for your consulate. Maybe look around on the regional forum to get some ideas of what others have sent.

For the initial petition, I would first include the evidence that is required according to USCIS instructions, so that evidence will be easy to find for the officer reviewing it. Keep this part short and organized (use the form instructions to compile this). So this is basically your items 1-10, but don't include the timeline and full love story here, circumstances of meeting in person are short and to the point: when and where. Then add proof to having met in person in the past 2 years (some of your item 11 stuff). Stick to factual evidence here: passport stamps, a picture or 2, just a few things to show you were together within the past 2 years. To compile this part of your packet, follow the instructions and pull the important pieces of evidence out of the "fluff".

Then you can add any extra evidence after that, to frontload the petition, so that some more relationship evidence will already be in your case file when it reaches the consulate. This is where you could include some of the "fluff": timeline, love story, chat logs, more pictures, etc. The officer reviewing your petition may not be very interested in this part, but it will end up at the consulate where they do want to see it.

    this is clear, thank you!

It really isn't very complicated. USCIS describes exactly what they do and don't want you to do: https://www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-guidance/form-filing-tips.

That link provides lots of useful guidelines for compiling your packet, including (as provided by @JeanneAdil earlier):

(There is more information listed, so please click on the link and read through all of it.)

They do disassemble the packet. Fasteners are appreciated. Two-hole punching the top of the paperwork is appreciated. You can use sticky tabs to organize it, as long as you put them at the bottom of the page.

All of this does not mean that they will deny you if you staple something, or if you don't two-hole punch the top of the pages. It just describes what is easiest and fastest for them to process. If you want to keep them happy, just follow these guidelines.

thank you, I was just not sure as there were people doing binder, and also some doing hole punch and fastner on youtube and they seem to have been approved. Then I read on USCIS "No binder" so hence my posting. I am new, and also step 1 in this journey, so rather ask the vets here on visa journey for reference to maybe their own way of doing things.

Please use the USCIS.gov instructions, not YouTube.

Why would you want to make it harder for them to process your petition?

Honestly, I really don't know. At this point as I read, I am guessing they will pull these paperwork apart to scan or etc, so I guess paper clips and fastener to hold the sections with color tabs to identify which is content, this should work?

  5. I can clearly read what's said on uscis site. I am also new in filling and also seeing examples form youtube who has use this binder and passed. And no I don't think youtube is good or bad for examples, hence why I am on here to further research.

I am looking for advice from people who have went through already to advise. No need to state the obvious as everyone at one point was in my shoe with many questions.

As title says, I am starting to compile my documents to assemble the k1 129f packet. But what is best way to submit? I took example on this youtuber below (1) which is a classic binder format with tabs. I saw that some say this isnt right because its hard for auditor to remove items ? (its a simple remove from cover sleeve)  and some say yes, which is correct? can you advise?

If you’re keen to include call logs/chat convos/etc, I’d include only some that show it’s been consistent but definitely not everyday.

I just noticed that passport copies are a whopping 26 and 16 pages. Are you including every page?? You only need the bio page and that’s it. So it should be one page for petitioner and 1 page for beneficiary.

this passport is copy of my US Passport and her Vietnam Passport (this I believe is overkill as mentioned but as precaution?) I plan to double side print this. Again these are just be being OCD and precaution, but I do however want to make it manageable for the auditor.

I would say it’s an overkill. I can guarantee you nobody will sit and read through your emails and chat logs. Copy of beneficiary’s birth certificate is unnecessary. I did not include any chat logs, call logs or emails and I was approved all the way thought the consulate. So in my opinion they’re unnecessary to send at this stage.

You’re missing one crucial piece of evidence that you met within the last 2 years - passport stamps.

also what is thank you letter??

I figured this is overkill as well. My evidence passport stamp is in "picture from trip" and "Airline hotel, gifts receipt"

  9. Hi All, as I am finishing up my K1 i129f petition packet. My fiancee and I are wondering if we are being too cautious on sending too much?

Below is my content, there is "extras" as precaution (like her passport and birth certificate, also the 4 year span chat log), but is this really a bad thing, to over prepare? I live in NYC and fiancee lives in Vietnam, so I am not sure if Vietnam will be stringent on details (where more details works in this favor?).

Below is how we plan to compile our packet which totals to 139 pages if one side print and 85 if double print. Can anyone advise? Also is double side print an issue?

  10. Hi all, new here and been reading up on K1 I am petitioning my finance from Vietnam.

My situation is - I was in the separation process from then wife (now ex wife) when I had met my new fiancé. Fast forward 3 years and I am now officially divorced (ex dragged it on even though we weren't together) and filing K1 for fiancé to get married in US. I am in middle of completing the I129f when I am stuck at the mailing/physical address. Since I still live at the place from past 5 years, ex wife moved out but I stayed at this location.

My questions - If I put this address for mailing and physical, where I currently live ; will I risk a rejection from USCIS with them curious to why I still live at that address? I do have my divorce decree and will mail that in packet. I was thinking if need to, I would change my permanent  address to my friend's place and  would just state that I moved there after my divorce if questioning ever came up. I couldn't find anything in the search with similar situation, so can anyone advise? thank you

note - my ex wife has moved in with her sister but haven't changed her address yet (where I currently live) and since we are on good terms, she comes by to pick up mail from times.
