Not in the world of immigration.

They're looking for evidence of commingled finances and a bonafide marriage.  This doesn't mean they want to see what they already have (evidence of having lived together for two years before filing, etc).  They want to see what you have done since filing to combine/establish marital assets; i.e., joint bank accounts, jointly held assets such as real estate and vehicles, jointly held insurance policies/named beneficiaries of life insurance, joint wills etc.  Bring evidence of living at the same address now, not years ago.

i know we need evidence thats not the question read it again cuz you clearly didnt understand i asked: do they look at the k1 evidence from the previous country i am not askimg about evidence in the US.

They have every piece of paperwork you have submitted in on big book. Ours was about 9 inches thick. It had every thing from K1 to AOS in there, and he said when she goes for citizenship any and all paperwork will be added to that book again. And once citizenship is acquired that book gets filed away forever LOL

Our interviewer told us he had read or looked through all our paperwork from the start to now to see our "story" hope this helps.

Okay yes it does. Just because me and my husband lived together in Europe for 2 years previously and then filed K1 when i came back here. So i wanted to know if they look at all that evidence too! Thanks so much!

Not sure what 'proof' you're asking about.  If you are referring to 'evidence' of a bonafide marriage, well obviously you bring that with you to the interview.

They didn't look at our I-129f during my husband's AOS interview.  Just the I-485, as there was a lot to update since it had been filed.

Yes obviously i meant evidence thats what proof means. And what i mean is people have said on this site that they go to their interview and the officers are already aware of their life together and im wondering if they look at k1 evidence you have previously submitted.

  4. My partners interview is next monday. And i just had a question regarding proofs. I noticed some people on here say they get to their interview and their officer "already knows" certain things and doesnt ask to many questions due to the fact. I dont understand how that is. You dont send proof with the AOS application so does the officer look through your k1 paket? How would the officer know any proof yet from here in the US? THANKS A BUNCH!

Dont have the exact dates memorized but we filed AOS on December 2nd 2019

Interviee is scheduled for december 21st 2020

  7. Just an update for anybody in the future that searches this question. I did get an update today that said ready to schedule for interview. I sent (as assets) a bank letter that said the average 12 m, current balance, date opened, account number, signed by officer of bank and his number address or both him and joint sponsor. And also tax transcripts (self employed joint sponsor). Hope this helps others in the future. Good luck.

    Received i485- December 2nd

    RFE- February 20th

    biometrics- March 2nd

    RFE received- April 2nd

ready to schedule for interview- may 6th

  8. I received an RFE about income. It was $10700 less than it should be. If you sent bank account as an asset what did it look like for you? I see on the RFE it gives you the option to send 12 m bank statements or a letter from a bank official (I sent the letter from the bank official) if you have done this to prove assets, what did it look like?  I have a feeling my case will be denied because I didn’t chose the first option. But I am just wondering if anyone took that route.. at this point I am just waiting for a response. Reading feed on this website realizing I made a huge mistake and waiting for my inevitable fate 😕 thanks for any answers.

The RFE my husband (applicant) received asked that since I (the sponsor) did not meet 125% of the poverty guideline for our household size, I can either submit bank statements covering the last 12 months (statements will be averaged over a 12 month period) or a statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institution in which the sponsor has deposits, the account balance averaged over a 12 month period, and current balance as proof of assets.

So we just sent in a statement from the officer of the bank with information requested. I am praying that they approve it!!

Has any one else sent in a bank letter as proof of assets?

    Thank-you!!

Did you get approved? I did the same but I don’t see a response here.

Nope. They cancelled my appointment and my online status went back to "ready to schedule interview", then instead of a new appointment I got approved without an interview.

You might get lucky but I believe this still depends on how fast your field office is at handling cases.

Wow lucky! I wish that would happen to us! Good for you!! Thank for the response.

It does not matter if you are financially in a position. It can be done for almost no money and they look at those as good things. Showing there is a long term commitment, They can be changed at a later date as you do better financially. But these are good documents to have for proof of your commitment.

Sorry, I don’t know much about those things. So can a spouse be a POA? Thanks and if so, where would you apply for that? Thank you.

You can bring your evidence from your time in Europe also.

I’m really curious as to why you didn’t marry during your time in Europe? It would have saved money, cut out this step and also meant your now-husband could have been working since the day you arrived (and you might not be so broke). Might be useful for others contemplating their options to know what attracted you to the K-1?

That’s kind of personal but I guess I’ll say I was very young. I moved to be with him when I was 18, and I didn’t feel ready to marry him yet. Yeah I know we are very aware of that now but it is what it is now we are trying to make due.

Also put together Wills and both medical and regular power of attorney. These

are a few  more documents for the interview.

As I said we aren’t in the financial postition to have any of that. I’m looking for recommendations that are best for a couple in their early 20s that don’t hav emu has in life yet. Thanks.

Yep, I’m doing pre reqs for a graduate nursing program (DNP) right now while going through immigration and having a 9 month old baby 😂 Oh and we lived with my husbands parents in the first 3 months as well, just recently moved to our own place, literally furnished it with stuff we found at the goodwill 🤪 I know how overwhelming this stuff can be. Keep pushing girl, you got this 😊🙏

Oh you’re a hardworker! That’s how we have to be honestly! Have to have that personality type, that’s wonderful! It will be worth it, you too girl, happy someone understand me good luck with you and your family and all your amazing plans! ❤️

You’re so welcome! Yes, definitely include the old rental agreement :) Happy Easter to you too and happy studying (I’m literally staring at my Anatomy & Physiology textbook as I’m typing this lol) 🧡 Keep us posted :)

Oh gosh are you nursing school? That’s what I’m studying! 😂 hard stuff! Haha

Here’s what I would do: joint bank accounts(!!!!), photos from the last 6 years including each other’s families, possibly chat logs, the European rental agreement, a written statement from your parents that’s you guys live with them, photos from the wedding, proof of your student status, possibly a letter explaining the situation and plan for the future.. l honestly believe you’ll be fine! You are young plus you’ve been together for a super long time! There’ll be a human sitting in front of you at the interview and you guys don’t come across like a denial case at all :)  Of course this is all just my humble opinion, but I really think you’ll be fine 🧡

Thank you K&K, I appreciate your kind words. We actually do have a joint account but of course since we both don’t work there isn’t much in there 😂 lol! That’s some great suggestions. I appreciate that. Maybe also our renting agreement that we had previously when we lived together in Europe. Thank you so much. Happy Easter!

I dont have my exact dates remembered but we applied in early December, biometrics was done march 2nd and we sent in response to an RFE on April 2nd and are awaiting a response now. That form  isn't applicable to us as he had been in the country since November.

  18. My husband and I have been together for six years. I lived with him in Europe in our own place then returned here to start school. Both of us cannot work of course he cant because he doesn't have an EAD and I cannot because I am in a vigorous course so that resulted in us staying with my parents until we have everything settled. We are also pretty young (early 20s). So we dont have any bills under our names, dont have a mortgage or will, or any of that. We are also of course broke and weren't able to have a proper wedding ceremony. We just got married and had a dinner. My issue is this will look terrible for them but the reality is we are just a young broke married couple, we have been living our life together and everything is great, but I am not sure what type of proof we can use. Thank you!

You need to submit his tax transcripts. Bank statements will not be accepted. Good luck.

Thank you. Do you think that since he is self employed we NEED to send C, D, or E tax schedules. I am unable to find online whether this is a requirement? I know others of course would send in there pay stubs and W-2 but since he doesn’t have that it’s difficult navigating this. Thanks for your help.
