This is what the letter says: "NVC will now forward the petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Georgetown., Guyana. Please note that the transfer process can take several weeks. The U.S. Embassy or Consulate will contact your fiancé (e)/spouse when they are ready to process his or her petition."
Is this their usual wording? Or is the "can take several weeks" due to COVID? I've heard usually after you receive that it only takes a week and then you can schedule your interview.
Also, I need to wait to be contacted to schedule my interview? That says my fiancé will be contacted, but I thought I was the one that would be contacted.

Are the interviews done in English? Or do they have a translator?

Apostille not needed.
So glad to hear this. Thank you!

I am not even sure if I am using the word correct. I have a Single Status Affidavit that was certified by the Clerk of Circuit Court, but I don't know if I have to get it apostilled. It's not going to be used out of the country since I am the petitioner and live here, but I just want to make sure I don't.
If anyone has an answer, I would greatly appreciate it!

Isn't there something called single status affidavit or something that you could obtain? I only heard of it, not sure how it works or if it's legit.. Maybe that and notarized statement that you made mistake?
Yes, I actually contacted the County Clerk and they are able to provide proof that I have no marriage record through the Single Status Affidavit. I am going to provide that, my fiancé's Single Status Affidavit, and a notarized statement acknowledging that it was an error, therefore I cannot provide a divorce decree since I am not married. 😓

I accidentally chose the answer for the "Is your fiance(e) related to you?" question as "N/A, beneficiary is my spouse." He is not! I've never been married and they are asking for me to provide a divorce decree! I feel like such an idiot 😭 What do I do? Please help me!

I just decided to check my status and saw that they sent an RFE on the 2nd of this month!!! I'm nervous because I don't know what it could be, but I'm still excited. I've had a change of address and a change of work since sending my application, could that affect anything?
Also, I'm pretty sure I already changed my address to the new one to receive documents, but is there any way to check and make sure?

Hi, I have a question about the payment. When I received my text the money was taken out of my account, but after a couple days I checked again and it seemed like the money wasn't taken out and only says "check converted ACH." Is this normal?

Hello! I have been struggling to fill out the I-129F because I do not understand Cuban addresses at all.
If for example the address is:
Calle XX #XXXXX E/ Calle x y Calle x Reparto Magdalena Cotorro La Habana (this is how it appears on my fiance's ID)
Where does each section fill into on the form? Also, does Cuba have a postal code?
If anyone could help. Thank you!

1) Your choice, but most of the work will be on you 2 anyway. If you can follow the guides and read the instructions, you should be fine. Ask questions as needed. Most people on this website appear to have done it themselves fine.
2) USCIS has tips for this (https://www.uscis.gov/forms/forms-information/form-filing-tips), but something just as simple as a paperclip works fine. Paper fasteners are fine as well. Avoid binders,m plastic sheets, or anything else that impedes their ability to easy/quickly remove pages. The poor office worker that has to remove each sheet to scan it will appreciate it.
3) No, at least not for the petition. Requirements for the consulate vary, but that won't come into play until after petition approval. Letters of intent to marry from each of you are required.
4) For the petition, none. No relationship evidence is required with the I-129F. However, if you want to front-load your petition, you can include relationship evidence. Whether this is beneficial or not really depends on the consulate again (because USCIS does not review that aspect with the petition). If you choose to submit chat conversations, my suggestions would be only send what a reasonable person would look at, from first contact to now. Like if you started chatting last year, 1 page for each month would be the most I personally would do...likely less than that. More evidence is not necessarily better. Quality >> quantity. Having, for instance 500 pages of chats (people have absolutely done this) just means they likely won't look at any of it + there's more likely to be something in those 500 pages that could be used against you.
5) Any non-English documents need to be translated to English for USCIS. Anybody qualified in both languages can do it, with the proper certification statement.

Thank you so much!!

Hello, I have been with my fiance for almost 3 years now, and we are starting to plan applying for the K-1 Visa. The thing is, I'm not really sure where to start. He lives in Cuba, so I feel like things might be a little more complicated. I have a couple of questions and it would be really helpful if anyone had answers.
1. Should I pay someone to help me with the process or do it myself?
2. I am aware of most of the things that should be included in the application, but how should it be put together to send? (Binder, folder, etc.)
3. Are single-status affidavits required?
4. In terms of conversation screenshots, what kind of things are they looking to see?
5. Do documents, like the Cuban birth certificate, have to be translated?
Thank you!
I received the notice from the NVC about transferring my petition. Is this the usual wording?

I received the notice on April 22, so it's almost been a month 😓
