If you are a Russian Immigrant Visa applicant with questions about transferring your case to Warsaw, please email support-poland@ustraveldocs.com

this was in the reply they sent me… but after emailing support-poland@ustraveldocs.com I was told I needed to contact the country to which I want to transfer my case directly. So I also tried support@ustraveldocs.com and I’m waiting on a reply from them.

Maybe email the embassy again quoting the reply from ustraveldocs and ask for your case to be transferred.

I had my senator email 5 embassies after I did the same over 2 months ago. The aid who handles the case got a imitate response from one and ask we send over info and did that last week. Weeks passes by and the embassy wants use to do it again. Heard from another any they told us no but try again in 2 months when they clear the backlog. The other 2 weeks and nothing. Heard back from the NVC after we sent a expedite request 2 months ago and just yesterday they requested approval from Moscow 24 hours later not approved. I was expecting that.

The thing that really making it ridicules is we immigrating our step son who is a minor. Even if we did get approved for Poland we have 2 options my wife has to spend a bunch more money and leave work for another extended period to fly from the US to Russia and get him to the interview. The other option is his grandmother takes him but the will be hectic.

Either way a lot of traveling  and getting more visa for 2 people where if it was a near by country that work well with Russia be super easy.

If you transfer your case to Poland I would suggest your wife to handle everything. Don’t leave it up to grandmother. With all covid testing requirements and restrictions it’s not easy to get to Poland from Russia nowadays.

I tried to transfer my husbands case to Poland but it turns I might have emailed the wrong address because I got a reply saying I need to contact the embassy directly. I emailed

     support-Poland@ustraveldocs.com

Which email should I contact to request a case transfer?

    Try this one:

No, they didn’t. To be on the safe side, I’d check the website of the US embassy/consulate where your parents are scheduled to have interview to know exactly what documents they require and whether they have to be the original copies or not. I did the same for my parents’ cases.

And my parents’ visas have been issued today! So, they sent in the medical reports on 5/28. The case status changed from “Refused” to “Administrative Processing” on 6/17 and then today 6/30 it changed to “Issued”!

    Congratulations!!! 🎊

One more question: when uploading documents to ceac for the passport did your parents upload all the pages, or only the one with name and picture?

It is not just her travel passport. Her Drivers License and in country passport. She also never named changed it so she was going to do it this time. She also has health issues she wants to get taken care of in Russia.

My wife called the Moscow embassy and they told her they don't have the file but have some information on him, contact NVC. NVC say he wont get a interview in Moscow because Moscow is closed!

I also thought IR cases are a priority?

It’s hard to tell how cases are being prioritised. All you can do for now is keep emailing other embassies directly and asking for a transfer. Cases involving children should be prioritised, at least in my opinion.

So my step son has been waiting for a IR2 visa interview since May of last year. Now that the embassy in Moscow is effectively shut down where has everyone been transferring to?

I contacted both embassy in Kazakhstan and they said no. Still waiting on Poland and a expiated request in Moscow. We was hopping to find something close to Orenburg area.

We have issues that makes this even harder.

    1. My wife (his mother) wants to attend the interview as last time he went to a interview with his dad they denied his visitor visa. She wants to make sure the consoler also understands our financial situations as well.

    2. All of my wife Russian documents are expiring this year and I mean all of them. She needs to have this done before November but the only time she can take time off from work is June-September. Even if she was able to take time off the amount of income lost and the money spent to take 2 trips to Russia could be damaging.

    3. If he does not get a interview this year he will graduate Russian high school by the time he get tome come here. Then when he does he will be on his senior year in the US. He is a pretty shy kid so is only year of school here would be miserable and a bunch of missed opportunities.

As far as your wife’s documents - her international passport she can renew at the Russian embassy here in the US.

As far as transferring - you can ask other nearby countries, but some of them may require a visa to travel there. Some people got interviews in Moscow recently, if the case has been DQ since May 2020 you could be close to getting an interview (someone with DQ April 2020) got scheduled for an interview in July. It’s been tough for everyone who got stuck in Moscow.

    Hi Milasa,

My parents got the 221(g) refusal because their medical exams were still pending at the time of the interview.  What happened was that at the medical exam 2 weeks earlier, the doctor suspected my parents had TB based on the x-rays. So they went on to have the dreadful sputum test, which took almost 9 weeks to complete. Luckily the results came back negative for both of my parents, otherwise they would have had to go under treatment for 6 months. So, they followed the instructions in the 221(g) to send in their passports once their medical exams were cleared. Now we are waiting for the issuance of the visas as the status of their case have changed from “refused” to “administrative processing.” I have no idea how long the “administrative processing” for cases like my parents will take. I know! It has taken so long, almost 2 years for us now and at some point I thought we were so close, but then now it feels like forever. Has your mom been scheduled for an interview yet?

Thank you for your reply. I hope your parents will get their visa soon.

Yes, it's been a while since my case closed in NVC. It closed back on April 2020 so yeah a little bit more than a year. It's crazy how they notified me just yesterday about the interview date and their appointment is already in a week and a half. It gives them very little time to get their medical exams done.

If they can’t schedule their medical before the interview then they can still do it afterwards.

This happened in Iraq. The US makes arrangements with several other Embassies. They then transfer your case to one of the other Embassies. You may ask another country’s Embassy to be transferred; however, it is up to that Embassy and country rules.  Our case was transferred to Doha automatically due to Baghdad being closed. We asked to be transferred to Ankara. They only accepted due to proving we have ties to Turkey.

I have no idea how long it would take for US to make arrangements with other Embassies.  Somehow, and I could be wrong, I feel that finding a place for the cases to be transferred isnt a high priority. Plus, there will be a backlog. I feel really bad for the situation this has placed Russians in. I feel your pain.

Something to consider..... if you transfer to another country, make sure you can get a visa to that country.

I agree that such transfers will not be of high priority, especially taking pandemic into account. The ones who really want to transfer soon have to email multiple embassies and ask.

After filing for the IR5 application and 2 years, I got all papers done from our side.

Civil documents and all documents were updated to the ceac website on 5th May 2021.

I guess now waiting for documentation qualification status?

First waiting for DQ ( it will probably take a few months) and then waiting for the interview. The interview part could take a while, depending on the embassy in your country.

My mom had her interview this morning, and everything went great! She said she got asked some biographical questions (where I work, where I live), as well as some questions about her past history in the US (she had studied and worked on an H1B here in the past). She brought all the documents in the interview checklist and was asked to show them (example checklist from our embassy here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/ASN-Asuncion.html), including a copy of my naturalization certificate. I also gave her our 2020 tax returns just in case, which were not uploaded/sent to NVC.

Her medical was forwarded directly from the civil surgeon to the embassy, so she didn’t have to have that packet with her. In fact she didn’t even need the passport photos for the medical exam, they just took a cell phone photo at the checkup 😂

They expect to return her passport via courier in the next week or so.

Congratulations!!! Hopefully all our parents will have their interviews before the end of this year.

Just heard back from Moldova and was denied transfer.  Does anyone know of any embassies that will take a Russian case?  We've applied since Oct 2019 and both our mental health is rapidly deteriorating

Some people had success with Poland, but it requires a visa to get there. I wonder if anyone tried Georgia.

It was surprisingly quick, I submitted everything on May 12 and was DQ’d by June 8.

Even the USCIS I-130 stage was quick, priority date was Feb 11 and case was created at NVC on May 1. Then the executive order came along grinding everything to a halt.

Please let’s us know about the interview experience, your mom would be one of the very few people to have ir5 visa interview this year.

Update : I got an email from NVC with the Case Number and the Invoice number.

I also paid the AOS fees

Next steps is to get the Financial Evidence document which means I need to get the IRS tax transcript. When trying to go to the IRS website to get the transcript, I had an option of electronic or by mail transcripts. What options are you all using?

Also, when I went to select the by mail option, I got option for Account Transcript or Return Transcript ?

I did electronic return transcripts if I remember correctly.

Anyone got any updates about their cases yet? It's been almost 2 years since my mom got approved and still in limbo. I just emailed NVC to expedite my mom's case as I need her here when I have my baby due in September. Hopefully they acknowlege it. Her case just needed to be forwarded to US embassy so she can do her medical and interview.

Due to the ban I haven’t heard of anyone getting IR-5 visa interviews, but hopefully embassies will resume such interviews in April, once the ban expires. Even if they start at a very limited capacity it will be a good sign. Good luck with your expedite, I remember one VJ member got the expedite for her mom approved for the same reason that you stated, but it was before the pandemic
