I have called them and got them to reschedule my interview.

I have a few questions from you:

    - Did your new TX Field Office have longer wait times compared to the older VA Field Office?

    - Did you get separate NoA from each of the two Field offices at your new address?

    - Did you receive a notification from the older office before your interview date or after? I ask this last one because the agent told me to still go to the interview in case notification from old FO doesn't arrive OR if they say they can't reschedule my interview before the given interview date.

Also, our interview in Texas was scheduled for a later date than the Virginia interview but not by much so it didn’t bother us as we were just grateful we could get an interview for this year.

    • I did not check on the wait times, as that just gave me anxiety. I will say that the field office I went to was AMAZING and super quick and transparent.

    • We received separate NOAs, but were advised to go to the interview here in Texas as that is where we live. So we sent a letter into the field office in VA letting them know that we no longer lived in VA. However, USCIS had handled the transfer before the letter was received.

    • I’m unsure about the last question? We received our interview cancellation letter to our new address shortly before our Texas interview letter came.

    Hope this helps!

If I show up there, would they say that since we have Drivers Licenses from new state, that they don't have jurisdiction over our case and tell us to go back? We don't want to travel 8+ hours to and from Washington DC if that's what they do for out of state applicants.

Hello! This happened to us. We did a change of address online and got that confirmation, then we got our interview confirmation for back in Virginia so we called USCIS, and got confirmation that we needed to have our interview here in Texas.

They canceled the Virginia interview and scheduled one here in Texas. It set us back a few weeks (like maybe a month and a half), but we figured it was better to have our interview where we were supposed to instead of flying back to Virginia.

This was also confirmed when USCIS told us we needed to have our interview at the location closest to our new home.

Yes, I understand there are other evidences we will be pursuing but I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience getting their spouse on a lease with them so that I had some background on the process. I will be adding him to my bank account next week!

I was able to add my husband to the lease as a tenant as my specific complex only asked for his proof of identification. We explained the situation to them, but we oddly didn’t run into any roadblocks. I definitely would talk to them and try to deal with one leasing agent during the entirety of the process so you don’t have to keep explaining you all’s situation and you can ensure the person you’re dealing with has all of the facts.

Social security offices are currently closed and they are not processing. Whenever they will open they will have a backlog.

That is what I figured! I saw that USCIS still had the message up about resuming partial services tomorrow; however, I have not seen anything posted on my local Social Security Office’s page. Thank you!

  6. Hi everyone!

Just curious about how long it takes for the beneficiary to receive their SSN/Card after receiving their EAD Card during the current crisis? As in, when have those of you who recently received your EAD Cards (between March and now) gotten your SSN/Card? We are moving next month, so I am just curious in regards to how long in real time it is currently taking to receive them. Thank you!

  7. I had been following this thread RELIGIOUSLY while debating on whether or not to try to request to expedite my husband’s EAD. We were prepared to do so next week when we received an update yesterday that his card was being produced. Just wanted to give a little hope to anyone who’s a little stressed about all of this.

    We filed: 12/17/2019

    Bio Appointment: 1/30/2020

    EAD Card Being Produced: 5/26/2020

    Good luck to you all!

  8. Hello everyone!

My husband and I filed his AOS (from tourist) application in December 2019 and are now awaiting our interview and waiting for his EAD to be approved. We will be moving out of state (from VA to TX) in August and I was just wondering if anyone else had experience with moving out of state while awaiting their approval? We are hoping the his employment authorization at least comes before we move, but we anticipate the interview being scheduled for after we move.

Any opinions/advice or experiences with this would be great!

Thank you very much for your answer!!

I really had not realized that they would ask for 2019 since I have read the forms' instructions so many times and here is what they say

So I had told myself to just make sure we had that for the interview as stated.

They call 2019 , the "curren tax year", and to my understanding "the most recent tax year" means the most recent one that I was able to file.

So what did you send exactly for 2019?

    The w2's?

No IRS tax return transcript right?

I just need to make sure I don't send the wrong stuff..

Okay, so ignore my answer because we weren’t under the Public Charge rule when we filed so someone who filed after the deadline would probably be more helpful for you lol so sorry. We didn’t have to file the I-944, so I have no idea what that form entails.

    Hi!!

Are you guys saying that if I send IRS tax return transcripts for 2016, 2017 and 2018, it won't be enough??

    I am confused..

My husband hasn't filed taxes for this year yet.

Can someone clarify please, thank you!

The deadline to file taxes is coming up soon, so it may be beneficial all around for him to just file now.

We filed our AOS petition for my husband in December of 2019 and they asked for the most recent tax documents in February which I assumed meant 2019 so I went ahead and sent that in. On my letter it listed W2s as an option so I printed out mine and sent those in and that’s when our status changed to ready to be scheduled for an interview.

I know that’s not a straight forward answer but you never know until you get the RFE. If you can send the 2019 as well that may be really helpful since that would probably be considered the most recent as of today. Hope this helps.

For the medical - I called, because I got the same thing. They told me my medical from the K1 is fine, but I need one vaccine, so I'll go before the interview and just bring that record to the interview.
What I'm thinking of bringing as proof:
    - Financial papers - bills, bank accounts, phone plans, etc.
    - Proof of relationship - we're having our big wedding this year, because it was impossible to plan anything from Europe lol. So we'll bring wedding invitations, the contract with the venue, pictures of when we signed and got married on papers - things like that. I read it's important to bring pictures with your husband's/wife's family.

Are you guys bringing insurance papers as proof?

Thank you! That’s helpful because it’s super similar to what we have.

In regards to insurance I don’t have him on a joint policy yet because I had AMAZING insurance before we got married and adding him to my company’s would be incredibly expensive. But we have life insurance, and we’re also joint beneficiaries on my mother’s policy. We have the typical auto, renters, etc policies however.

I’m currently looking into joint medical. We have an apartment together, two cars and we’re on bills together as well.

    Hi chi_rinze,

Thanks for your explanation, appreciate it.

    How about I-130 filling fees?

i do not have personal check... can i send bank draft with my i-130 package? bank demand draft in us$.. is that ok?

So we used a Cashier’s Check from my bank, I’m not sure if that’s what you’re referring to? We did it that way so the money was withdrawn immediately versus when using a personal check.

  13. Does anyone have any tips on how/what they prepared for their interview? Our Courtesy Notice that we received last month stated that we needed to bring his medical (he originally did it last July so unsure of if we can pay to get those results again or have to pay to get it done all over again depending on when we actually get an interview).

I know the interview notice will tell us a few things we should bring but I want a jump start on getting a nice file going so we will be more than prepared.

I know you all can relate to being excited for this process to be over with 😂 Every notice/email/letter has been such a happy occasion for us (even when we got the RFE because it was something super simple). We’re celebrating this weekend lol Have to celebrate the small steps forward!
