  1. guess who got 25% fired on friday?

    *sigh*

ohwell, i never liked that job anyway. I'll use the 2 hours each day that i will leave early to apply for better jobs.

they told me that the economy was too bad and that they weren't making enough business. ohwell. but there is always enough money for the whole family to buy brand new cars this weeks. i HATE people who are so filthy rich that they use perspective.

my boss told me, that she was not getting her bonus anymore, trying to show me, that she was taking cuts, too. well, that cuts her salary from 35000 PER MONTH to 30000 PER MONTH. oh i feel SOOO sorry for her!!!!

  2. I'm so sorry we won't be able to make it to the party!

Eric is working crazy hours A LOT and already told me to not bother him with ANYTHING for the next 2 weeks. :/

plus our medical bills with blow up the budget for the next 3 months in advance. i feel lost!!!!!!

Other than that I'm doing fine. I decided to start looking for jobs. I want and need to make more money.

Our biggest expense is rent, followed by food and dental bills. Rent here is ridiculous, we could live cheaper, but then you need a gun to get the mail at night. And the Exterminator every 4 weeks.

All utilities are included in our rent, so it isn't THAT bad, but still bad enough *sigh*

I'll get the mail (without gun) now and bring out the trash.

    Happy Tuesday to everybody!

  3. hi there!

    how is everybody?

don't worry about the AOS sitting underneath the biggest pile! ours was one of the very last february-filer-packages to be processed. everybody already had their greencards since months, and we still didn't even have our interview notice.

but then, at once, the letter is there, and everything seems to be so stress-free and small.

    :)

ah, aly, I'm sorry that Jeremy is having a rough time!

I really want to win the lottery. things got so expensive, we somehow manage to barely live on our both incomes, the plan of having kids next year got postponed, we just can't afford it. breaks my heart.

  4. CONGRATULATIONS SUSI!!!! the greencard will arrive sooner than you think!

@stp: I just checked the coverletter that we sent with our AOS #######, and we included them. It won't be a biggo though, just put them in an envelope and you should be fine!

I just cooked dinner and we'll sit down now, eat and watch the debate.

oh, did I mention that I went to the dentist and that I need 2 crowns??????? HELP :help:

my insurance would cover for half, but it would still be 1000!!!!!!! :wow:

I WANT TO GO BACK TO MY SOCIALIST HOMECOUNTRY!!!!!!!! :bonk:

  5. hi guys!

sorry i've been so silent, but i got somehow sick and then my bike broke, and i was just really busy and tired!

i wish so much i had a cat!!! or even a dog!

how are you guys doing with the economy being in trouble? we are really feeling it here a lot.

I'm not sure about halloween yet, but i'll talk to eric later. our car has been giving us trouble lately and i'm not sure if it will survive the trip.....

i had to get really irritated about this

yeah. the temp EAD at JFK is worthless for your spouse if the plan is for her to be a SAHM anyway!

DANG! if the main priority (for money and career reasons) is to find a job and work ASAP, then it can be well worth it.

DANG! especially if somebody already has a SSN. we went far out of our way to get the EAD and fly via JFK, so I really really really HATE it when people tell me it was worthless. well, if they have unlimited funds and the spouse needs time to adjust, well - but THATS NOT EVERYBODY.

    DANG.

  6. I HATE SAYING THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN; BUT HERE IT GOES:

The temp EAD stamp is NOT USELESS!!!!!

Especially for people who already lived in the US for a while and have their SSN already it can be VERY usefull!

If your MAIN PRIORITY is working, than it is well worth it!

I got it, and it took me 5 weeks to find a job, and we filed for AOS 10 days after I arrived here.

If your main priority is working, get hitched right after arrival and file for AOS right away.

BUT PLEASE DON'T SAY THAT IT IS USELESS JUST BECAUSE YOUR SPOUSE NEEDED TIME TO ADJUST OR DOESN't PLAN ON WORKING AT ALL!!!!!!!

spouses who didn't live in the US before and who are having language problems might need time to adjust.

but if somebody already lived in the US, has a SSN and wants to work right away IT CAN ME WELL WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it ist just a conscious decision: I wanted to work right away so we got hitched after work in the courthouse and filed for AOS 4 days later. If working is priority B or C or there is no plan to ever work, then please don't tell me it's worthless.

    dang!

  7. did you check the back of his i94? the EAD is a little, blurry red stamp on the back of he i94.

after filing for AOS he will have his EAD within less than 90 days.

so if he wants to work, go to the courthouse tomorrow, get hitched, file for AOS the day after tomorrow, and he'll be able to work in 90 days. it will take him a few weeks to get his SSn and stuff anyways.

the officers at JFK are crazy impolite, i made that experience at well.

  8. I read some where that they issue EAD only on JFK airport...is this right?

also I am planning to arrive at JFK on saturday ...do they issue work permit on saturday or sunday? or one has to wait till week days like monday etc?

is there any number where we can call to confirm this?

i doubt that it depends on what day of the week.

just google. i called them when i wanted to make sure that they still issue EADs, but i don't have the number anymore. but google finds it.

  9. Is it cheaper or more expensive in NC Gillian? I know it can depend on area as well but that realllly sucks :(

It's costing me way more in NC but that's because I can no longer 'piggy back' off Scott's policy. It would probably be just as expensive in MA if I was taking out my own policy. It sucks!

    money sucks in general!!!!!

    zinfandel anybody? it's friday night!!!!!!!

  10. boys are stupid most of all!!

OH MY GOD!!!!! i went to the world market here yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH MY GOD!!!!!! I could have spent a FORTUNE there!

i bought these more than cute colored baskets to my closet, to sort my underwear and socks and things, and i bought german gummibears, and asian lunch soups, and german chocolates, and OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and i bought a new wallet, and OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!

and i started the "agnes is getting into shape, and ROUND is NOT A SHAPE" mission. and yes, i am aware of the fact that it was stupid to buy gummibears and chocolate when i want to loose weight.

    :) :)

  11. happy saturday!

debz, sometimes people don't get an RFE at all and have the chance to hand in things at the interview, maybe you get lucky!!!!! we made it without cert. copy of marriage license, birth certificates and bank letters :)

@ all. i'm slightly starting to feel better. i was horribly depressed the last 2 weeks and hardly had the energy to get up in the mornings. *sigh* but i decided to kick my lovely ### and to get back on my feet. somehow.

    happy weekend!!!!!!

  12. hi guys!

anybody else watching the gloryful president of this country giving his speach to the nation? :)

@ susie: I'm so sorry that adriano is considering moving to NY. It must be heartbreaking for you that he is so unhappy in indiana! i'm not sure what to recommend, but the long-distance thing seems very very hard to me! is there any possibility to change universities/ jobs and move somewhere else where both of you are happy?

i'm not sure if the GC interview might be an issue, you don't have to tell them at the interview that you aren't living together. they didn't ask us any questions, they only wanted to see documents that are in both names. but every interview is different.

@ gillian: i'm so happy for you that your appartment is nice and that scott might move to charlotte!!!

@ debz: so jealous, i want a kitten!!!

@ all: i am starting to realize that i might never be able to call this my home and we are considering moving to germany next year. i feel guilty for feeling this way, but the last couple of days i was on the verge of tears 24/7 and i am so homesick that i am afraid of flying home for christmas because i know that i will not get back on the plane.

  13. hi guys!

I envy everbody whose spouse doesn't have to work, and therefore can enjoy a long weekend!

i can't believe the weekend is already over!!!! dang.... my boss is a pain in the neck lately...

    anyway, happy for you guys!!!!!

@ aly.... well, the baby option is dependent on money and erics income wouldn't be enough. and to put a newborn into daycare just really isn't what I would want to do. a dog - but what would be do with the dog when we are in europe for nearly a month in december? a cat - eric is highly allergic. he loves to play with them, but after 2h or so he starts to show big time breathing problems and stuff. *sigh* guess it will be my teddy bears and me for a while...

@ sara: welcome back and congratulations to the interview apt!!! the interview is really painless if you prepare and bring the stuff that they put on the list. they didn't even want to see the cert. copy of our marriage license. just financial stuff in both names, and pictures because she was curious.

    happy sunday night to everybody!!!!!
