Hesham arrived at JFK on October 6 (we heard it's the only place giving Temp EAD) and was not given one. He asked the IO and was flatly ignored and told to MOVE ON. He was too nervous to stand his ground and has regretted it ever since... going on 3 months of SHEER BOREDOM and FRUSTRATION... Guess the bottom line is either refuse to leave until you get an explanation, or plan to wait and wait and wait... But never count on getting it....

i just got up at 7am because last night the flight information said that he would arrive at 5am in frankfurt, but now I see that he just arrived in frankfurt. poor thing.

A stressful evening: Eric has been visiting his cousin in the Ukraine this past week and was supposed to arrive in Germany today.

He just called while I was on a walk, and somebody suffered a heartattack on is flight, the flight had to return and now he's stuck in Istanbul. My dad isn't specifically good at listening or delivering messages, so now I'm trying to call Turkish Airways to find out when he will come home, but they don't want to give me information because I don't have his ticket number.

ANNOYING.

Ooh - I want to go to Wyoming and see the Grand Prismatic Spring - it's up there with my trip to South Dakota and such like

I only sent the international birth certificate and they accepted it without problems. this stuff is SOOOO RANDOM!!!!!

(other than that they never even asked for our Marriage Cert, Birth Certs, Employer letters or ANYTHING during AOS. (But they gave me hell because I already had a student visa and they thought that my student visa was fraud in hindsight......).

I am getting worried because everyone before me and a few after me got their interview letter like a month or two ago and I am still here pending.

Someone who filed after me, got an RFE even got a touch yesterday.

What is the way to get a real person on the USCIS phoneline ?

Well- the timeframe for the interview letters depends on how busy your local office is. and every office close to any border is VERY busy. I live in Tucson and got my interview letter 8 weeks after most of the other february filers received theirs, but the same week the other Mexico-border-folks received theirs.

maybe you could try to figure out if the other people filing in Southern Cali and Arizona already received their letters.

I'd been resisting registering them - didn't want to revisit the 'check-every-minute' obsession of the NOA2 - but finally caved, and they're all showing no action since October; one has no action since September

well - if it helps - the online status still shows my EAD, AOS and AP as "processing".

Wir sind ja deutsch, also haben wir doch auch Wahlrecht, ne? ich weiß aber noch, dass als ich mich abgemeldet habe, die Tante keine Ahnung hat, wie das funktionieren würde. ich dachte, wir können doch bestimmt per Briefwahl wählen. Aber wir mussten ja nie unsere genaue Adresse in Dtl. hinterlassen, also können die uns ja gar nicht kontaktieren. habt ihr schon mal gewählt von den USA aus? Ich weiß gar nicht, ob die Wahlen in Dtl. bald anstehen, aber ich frag mich das schon sehr lange...

Du hast in D Wahlrecht für die Bundestagswahl. Du bekommst aber nicht automatisch deine Wahlunterlagen, sondern musst dich in das Wählerverzeichnis eintragen lassen. Ich hab das bei der letzen Wahl gemacht und mir wurden dann die Briefwahlunterlagen zugeschickt.

ich hatte mir schon gedacht dass es nicht geht, aber die hoffnung stirbt zuletzt.....

der arbeitsmarkt in tucson ist echt am boden, ich mach mir den totalen stress ob ich was neues finde.

Eric ist nicht Military, arbeitet aber an der Uni. Und er will sich nicht wegbewerben weil er dort halt Jobsicherheit hat. Aber sein Einkommen reicht halt nicht. Es ist für mich schwierig geduldig zu sein, wenn er sich wegbewerben würde (und gleichzeitig den nächsten Schritt auf der Karriereleiter gehen würde) könnte er locker dreimal so viel verdienen.

Jetzt sind wir an einem punkt, wo er sich nicht wegbewerben will, ich aber in tucson keinen gescheiten job finde. und sein einkommen reicht nicht. und kinder kriegen können wir so auch nicht (er sieht das aber gelassener, dann ziehen wir halt ins getto, und überhaupt, in den armutsvierteln un brasilien leben die leute in pappkartons und sind glücklich.....) :/

Ich habe passend kurz vor weihnachten noch meinen job verloren und habe jetzt einfach den heimaturlaub verlängert und bin schon früher geflogen. jobmässig sieht es in südarizona echt bitter aus, das kann noch was geben wenn ich im januar wieder auf jobhunt bin....

ich habe eine frage an euch: gibt es irgendeine möglichkeit kindergeld oder sonstige finanzielle mittel aus deutschland zu bekommen, wenn man in den USA lebt?

wir wollen unbedingt bald kinder, aber finanziell ist das echt nicht drin (wenn wir nicht in eine einzimmer-bruchbude ziehen).
