You cannot renew by mail because the new passports have biometrics imbedded inside. Your digital picture needs to be taken at the passport station.
The Philippine embassy has an outreach program where embassy staff travel to various cities performing passports, recording births and recording of foreign marriages etc. We are in Panama city and went last year to the embassy outreach in Montgomery Alabama, a 3 hour drive. Keep checking the Philippine embassy website (below) for a visit close to you. Appointments fill fast so call as soon as it is available. Be sure to read the directions on things and documents to bring to the appointment. Cities to be visited are usually listed under "announcements". This is the holiday season so it may be a couple of weeks before they announce the cities to be visited.
Thanks. I just went and checked the website, nothing about outreach yet but will check again and hopefully before the trip that we are planning. I am just a bit concern of flying to DC and spend a fortune when we will be going to the Philippines anyway. LOL Hopefully, I can find out something, will continue researching and that's why I posted here for some input

Try to email the nearest embassy if they have an scheduled Consular Outreach neare you before March 2012... I suggest you do it here rather than in the Philippines... you can never be sure of the passport processing there... I renewed my passport November 2010 and it took me more than a month to get my new passport.
Thanks. I just sent an email to the embassy in DC. Nothing in the home page about the outreach schedule but will check periodically. Salamat po

Not sure where to put this topic BUT anyway, my passport is expiring May of 2012. I researched online but got so confused as to what to do.
1. I know I cannot renew passport in the Miami consulate anymore (I live in FL) so I have to go to D.C. Flying is not that cheap plus hotel and food and transportation when we get there and more expensive than the passport fee. Some say I can renew it by mail if I tried calling, I haven't coz of the holiday. Is this true? (nowhere in the Philippine embassy website that says this but just wanted to make sure I am not missing anything)
2. We are planning to fly to Manila probably April of this year. I thought of waiting until we get there and renew it there, way cheaper even the expedite processing. The only question we have is that: would they let me in if I have a passport that is not 6 months valid upon travelling? Waaaa... I work for a major cruise line company and they advise guest to bring passports as travel documentation that is 6 months valid upon completion of cruise. I am really confused and scared. I don't want to book a flight and then end up, they won't let me in (immigration won't let me in because of my passport) I need advise real bad. Thanks in advance.

Sad that she is getting married?
No, sad on how long you can petition your daugther No wonder there are so many illegal aliens in US.. lol Kidding..
-
So you can see for yourself:
http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bull...letin_4611.html
12 years? Good grief. My poor baby sister. She is still single right now but she will probably be married before the 12 years span That's sad
-
Because Spouse (or soon to be spouse) is considered immediate family.
Ironically the wait for parents of USC is much shorter.
How long is the timeline for parents? I do not want to get my mom and my dad without my baby sister. Well, she is not a baby but she is still my baby sister
Maybe, I can just get my dad first and then, he can my mom and sister after he process his naturalization. How does that sound?
-
lol You guys are funny..Find her a fiancee..
I've heard of how long the process is, how is this so? Why is the fiancee takes months and your sibling will take forever? Good grief..
-
There's a few guides on here about it, take a look
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;page=ussibpet
Thanks..Obviously, I have to apply for naturalization for it. Thanks again.
-
So, do I have to be a US citizen to get her?
-
I just got my 10 yrs GC last month and don't want to apply for naturalization yet. My question is can I file I130 for my sister? My husband is an American citizen, can we file it jointly? I really don't know what to do but want to bring her here? All input will be much appreciated.
-
Gc received today 01/19/09..woot hoot.. if someone can update mine, too..S much appreciated.. TY

Card production email received today..They ordered my card 01/08/09..

More evidence. Apparently I didn't supply enough to satisfy their "good faith" requirement. It's pretty open and shut really. I did what they asked, included some extras and put it in a nice little package. That wasn't good enough.
I don't have joint cable bills, joint water bills or any of that non sense. That stuff was all set up before she got here and I didn't have hindsight to go through the trouble to think about that. I wish I had now, but I don't. It just seems pointless. She gets all kinds of mail, but the document implies joint type of documents were best.
We have no children, no loans. Even her car is in my name because it's cheaper that way because we get a military exemption. We save over 100 dollars on registration costs. How do I explain that to good old paper pusher at USCIS? I've got 20 years military service and this stuff is stressing me out more than anything at work.
I'm looking at all kinds of stuff now. Receipts for money we sent her brother back home, receipts for money we spent on the dogs for medical costs (it has both of our names on it), anything...I'm going to include anything that has both or just her name and our address on it and send it in.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I'm sorry to hear about this, mrc..
All of our utility bills is in my husband's name bec. like what u said, we do not want to go thru the trouble of putting my name and it is non sense..The only one we got that had both of our name is the car insurance bill..Do u have a health insurance card that got her name as a beneficiary? We passed ours, too bec. we really do not have anything together except our daughter Oh, we do have bank account filed jointly..Oh, and how about the tac return every year..We filed jointly, too and we passed that as well.. Butm whatever it is, we wish u the best here..They will approve you, watch..

Great News! Seeing more VSC members being approved. I hope to see the great news in the mail sometime soon. My online status hasn't changed but from looking at the trend that's normal. I'll be watching the mail like a hawk.
Yeah...Mine didn't change either..It's still in Initial review..
Congrats to us..

I hope my post didn't came out rude to you, sh18..I'm just not use in dragging Jesus' name in expressions like that..I wanted to edit the post bec. I might offend u with it but I can't and so I just made this one. Anyway, I had this signature ever since I joined VJ and that was 2 years ago and I do no have any plans of changing it.
-
Lhedy, Jesus your signature is out of control...you make 3 posts and the forum engine has to create a new page ....
What do u mean "the forum engine has to create a new page?" Maybe because it does needed to be on the next page because it reached the posting limit? I made my signature like what I wanted and I haven't read anywhere on VJ that u need to shorten out your post because it created a new page or something. Thanks for the concern but I don't know why it does bother u that much that u need to use Jesus' name? I had the same signature and never change it from the date I joined VJ and so I do not have plan to change it either. Thanks again and have a nice day....

Hey everybody... Just came back from a short trip and guess what, this is the letter I found in my mailbox:
"Congratulations! Your request for the removal of the conditional basis of your permanent resident status has been approved... You should receive your perminent resident card within 60 days"
Woohoo... awesome start in the new year. Decision date was 12/23/09. However, the letter only says the first initial of my name and not my whole first name, should I call them up and make sure they put my whole name on my new GC or are they automatically going to do that?
Mine's the same. Just the initial of my name and then the last name.
-

Hi all.I just want to share my experienced. I was being interviewed for my removal of conditions.
I filed by myself because i was battered by a US citizen.I had to wait for almost a year before
i finally got my new card in my hand.I had 3 police reports but i didn't get any restraining order
it is because i wanted our marriage work. But unfortunately the marriage didn't work and that i had to
leave the house and find new place to stay because im afraid he will hurt me because he was mad at my
police reports. He told me all my reports are false allegations. It is very questionable to the officer on
why i haven't get any restraing order.Officer also asked me why my friends made letters telling our marriage
was in good faith. And i was being videotape also on the interview.every single word i say he is also writing in
the paper.I had like 10 questions.I cried while i was talking to the officer cuz i can't help it.I know i had
no bruises to show them but i was abused in so many many ways.At the end of my interview the officer told me
he can't make decissions.I told him i wanna know the result as soon as possible. He told me he will notify me
or call me if they need more information from me.I went home sad.I cry in my prayers hoping they will grant my
stay.Oh i am not divorced either till now cuz my x hubby to be was making it difficult for me.But im glad i also
bring my divorce paper. That is my story.Goodluck to all of you are still waiting.
I am so sorry for that terrible experience u had. How long you've been married with this guy? Are u from the Philippines? Your name is filipiname, so maybe I can assume that. But there is no country of origin in the profile. Anyway, congrats on the approval.
-
No update guys? I just want to bump this post so we'll be on the 1st page.. lol
Seems like by looking on the VSC filers' timeline that it took them 4 months from filing to approval so guys, we might have approval letter next month..Yay! Hopefully..
"Initial review"...I guess they have a lot of stuff do to at VSC. As if the next few months won't be stressful enough for us anyway.
I saw a post somewhere here where the PO said that there is no update on the website and no email either but he received the approval letter on the mail. I am expecting mine next month. lol Hopefully.
-
Well I thought vermont was the slower of the centers but thank God I was approved for removal of conditions in 4 months.. NICE!!!
I appreciate everybodys help that gave some great advice on filing, I DID NOT use a lawyer for this process in which could save everybody
alot of $$$$$$$$.
Anyway thanks everybody and good luck to those who are still on the waiting process.
timeline
conditional card expired AUG 22/ 2009
mailed the week of aug 16 /2009, application received and signed on AUG 20/ 2009

Renewal of Philippine passport
in General Immigration-Related Discussion
Posted
Latest from the Philippine Consulate in NY website FAQ: http://www.pcgny.net/2009/passport.html#P7
My passport has less than six (6) months validity. Can I still use this for international travel?
It is strongly recommended that you renew your passport immediately if it has less than six months validity left.
While travel to the Philippines on expiring passports is allowed for Philippine Passport holders (as they are considered returning residents) some airlines may require a letter from the Consulate, as assurance. Call 212-764-1330 ext 321 to secure a letter to the airline (free of charge, upon submission of appropriate documents). However, departure from the Philippines on a passport with less than six months validity will NOT be allowed by the Bureau of Immigration. It is therefore suggested that the travel apply for a new passport while in the Philippines.
Travel to other destinations, however, may not be possible if the passport has less than six months validity, as some ports of entry may bar the traveler from entering their borders using an expiring passport. The airline will then be fined for allowing the traveler to board their craft. Some countries require as much as 18 months validity on the passport. It is best to consult the appropriate Embassies and Consulates for the most up-to-date information.
---> Does this means that I am safe if I plan to go back to the Philippines, visit my family and while there renew philippine passport (they have expedite or rush processing for 7 working days) and go back to US (ohh, I'm a 10 yrs green card holder if that will help)
