Technically speaking, an RFE is a written request for more information and documentation that USCIS mails out if they believe that they don’t yet have enough evidence to approve or deny a given application. An RFE normally is a minor item and should not be looked at like it's a denial but an opportunity for you to complete your application. USCIS would not send out an RFE if they were going to deny your application. It's just a step that they must take and once they have your information and it meets their approval then you should be seeing your NOA2.
There are many varying degrees of RFE's. Some as simple as not "ticking" off a question. Others forgot the fiancé(e) letter and then others who met on a website and now need to prove that it wasn't a marriage arrangement website.
Once you get your RFE, read over very carefully as you only have one chance to reply accurately without causing undue harm. Once you know FROM THE RFE what it is set out to correct and to include "everything" they are asking for. Then reread the RFE to ensure you are compliant. Make copies of everything for your record and send back using their instructions which are contained within the RFE. If the RFE requires a signature, PLEASE don't forget this. Include the original RFE letter along with a cover letter explaining what you are including in your reply. Like a checklist format. Once received at USCIS your case will begin adjudication where the agent had left off. No one can tell you how long it will take so be patient.Hi @Greenbaum!
As you have always mentioned in the many replies you give here... The man with the gold is the one making the rules! The RFE is about a name difference... My fiance (the petitioner) is registered in CR with 2 last names and in USA just with one... Now they want evidence to prove it is the same person... We are wondering if we can submit his Costarican ID copy and his US passport bio page (both including photos to prove is the same person), or if there is something else needed to prove is the same person. Thanks

Hi! We received RFE because my fiance is registered in USA as John Smith ( 1 last name) and in CR , he is registered as John Smith Perez (2 last names).
They are requesting evidence to prove that John Smith and John Smith Perez are in fact, just one person.
RFE letter states:
" Evidence of name change may include but is not limited to: government issued identification containing a photo for each name; birth certificate; marriage certificate; divorce decree; death certificate (of the spouse whose name you used); adoption decree; or court order. The evidence must be registered with a civil authority"
We are wondering if it is enough just to send the copy of his Costa Rican ID (that includes his photo) along with his US passport bio page to prove it is in fact the same person or if we need any other documentation.
Thanks

What about the statement included on the I-129F form? Did you specify where and when did you meet your girlfriend within 2 year period before filing the petition? Assuming you saw her everyday because you were on same country... did you specify that?

Hi, we filed today! The journey begins!!

Hi,
We are ready to file form I-129F, but I realized there were 2 mistakes so I crossed out the information and added the correct one.
Is there going to be an issue because of this?

Hello everyone
Hope you doing well , I'm new here so I'm just getting use to the website
My question is my fiance didn't work enough last year cuz she stayed with me in my country for a 7 months
But this year she back to her job and she make good money now
I wonder if we should look for a co-sponsor
* We got NOA1
*I have 20000$ on my account bank and and she has 10000$ on her account bank
Hi Marwan, was she working when you submitted the petition? Just wondering cause I´m on a similar situation.

Hi, no he hasn´t filed any tax return, he lived almost all his life abroad.
No, we are not married, he moved 2 months ago to USA and we haven´t started the K1 process yet, we are engaged and gathering information to start the process.

Hi All,
My fiance moved to USA 2 months ago after living abroad 32 years (he is 33 years old). How do we do with the tax return form we need to send the affidavit of support and submit his tax returns?
