  1. I'm sorry to hear that 😞

We've had trouble in the past getting through to a human being on the phone support line, but we've always managed to get to someone with enough persistence and some combination of those phrases I mentioned above. One of the agents I spoke to said to try whatever you could to get through -- doesn't matter if it has anything to do with your actual support request, they'll assist you once you're connected.

Edit: you could also try saying "I don't have a case number." I think we had some success with that before.

Hi, does anyone knows Immigration phone number where we can call according to our case? I'm WAC and my 18 months expired soon and still nothing. No updates at all. I called many times but I can't speak to the agent. Thank you

Hi Momoejin. I'm not aware of any phone number other than the toll free number listed at uscis.gov (800-375-5283). It can definitely be frustrating trying to reach a human being using the automated system, though. We've had luck in the past saying "schedule an appointment" or "reschedule an appointment" or "make an appointment." Hope you're able to get in touch with someone, and good luck!

  3. Hey everyone! Our case was approved on 6/14 -- sorry, I've been meaning to post an update for a while, but life has been exceptionally busy. We have a WAC case number (transferred to National Benefits Center last December).

The timeline for our approval was a bit funky. For example, we received the email notification of the card being ordered before the notification of our case being approved. See the timeline in my signature for more details. Also, we never received a letter or notification of any kind for a biometrics appointment prior to the approval -- the only mention of biometrics was in the email notification we received on 6/14 that fingerprints had been applied to our case. We assumed they reused an earlier set of fingerprints.

However, very strangely, we received a letter in the mail a few days ago for a biometrics appointment on 8/3 -- that's right, we received this about a month after our case had already been approved. It was addressed from the California Service Center whereas the physical approval letter we received last month was addressed from the National Benefits Center, so I'm thinking there might have been a glitch or lack of communication between service centers in the system. We called the USCIS a few days ago to inquire, and we're currently awaiting a follow-up response from a Tier 2 officer on this bit of weirdness.

  4. Haha -- way to go, autocorrect.

The emails say "Your Case Status: Initial Review", but the exact phrase "Initial Review" isn't used anywhere on our online status at egov.uscis.gov. However, the online status includes similar language to what was included in the notification emails about the case being assigned to an officer for review.

I've filled in the RoC portion of my timeline -- there isn't too much information as we still haven't received a notice for biometrics (no appointment scheduled, no mention of fingerprints being applied). The email we received last night says we can expect to receive a biometrics appointment notice, so maybe that's on its way as well. My wife was on an H-1B.

We were guessing the move was to relieve backlog on the California service center as well -- hopefully the upcoming paper notice will include more information.

I just checked and apparently my case has been transferred and a new office has jurisdiction. No idea where it's transferred to. I am a K1, had an interview for AOS and my current service center is California. I hope it hasn't been transferred for an interview because Santa Ana (my local office) seems to be very slow. I'm wondering whether it might be a good idea to apply for cut now.

    What does "cut" stand for?

Our WAC case was also transferred to a new office. We received two emails, actually: one last night and one this morning. The wording was a little different on each message, but they both essentially said the same thing: our case was transferred to another USCIS office and that office now has jurisdiction. No information on where it was transferred, though it says we should receive something in the mail that explains why they moved our case. The notification also states our case is now in Initial Review. Our online case status has been updated with the same information.

This is the first update we've received since we received our NOA back in January -- we're just happy to see some progress.

Yes, that was exactly the last update currently displayed. However, I did get a letter in March to notify me that my (1st attempt) Bio Appointment was booked for April 2nd (or 10th, anyway right during the lockdown). The letter update was never reflected on the myUSCIS web app.

For clarity, my updates on the app are showing in this screenshot. For detailed timeline information, you can check my 'timeline' from my 'profile' if you click on my name.

Great, thank you for being so helpful! I just got off the phone with the USCIS (took some work to get ahold of a human being) to confirm that nothing was lost in the mail and that they're not waiting on anything from us. No new updates on our case status, but the agent said everything looked ok, so it looks like we'll just need to sit tight and wait.

    Hi there!

I had been checking everyday since Nov. 1st and also today, but the website only shows my last update from back in February 7, 2020.

I don’t think they’ll alert you using the web app. You’d want to make sure you use the USPS service— this is how I got to see the picture of this incoming letter. They scan it, and I get emails showing what will come to my mailbox.

I read somewhere that signing up for phone/text alerts can be accurate too. I don’t know how to do that, and I couldn’t figure out how to enable that service yet.

Got it. Looking at your timeline, I'm guessing the February 7 update was regarding your transfer notice to the National Benefits Center? So the web app never showed anything regarding your biometrics appointments (your appointments back in March/April and even your new date in December)?

We use USPS Informed Delivery as well -- I've been watching it like a hawk for the past several months.

    Hi everyone!

I just wanted to let the group know that yesterday I received a letter (posted on 11/16/2020) informing me that I have been scheduled for a Bio Appointment. The new date is 12/10/2020.

It took time, but I do feel that the ASC in San Jose/Santa Clara is working according to their own waitlist.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Happy Holidays.

That's great news! We filed our I-751 around the same time you did and we're in San Jose so our ASC will the SJ office as well, but we haven't heard any updates since we received our Notice of Action back in January.

Did your online MyUSCIS case update now that your biometrics appointment has been scheduled? Ours is still at "My Case was Received."

California Service center here. I just checked my status and apparently fingerprints were applied on Sept 10th. I never had an appointment for biometrics, so they used my AOS fingerprints.

It's good to finally see some movement.

    Nice, that's great to hear!

Still no movement on our WAC case since we received our NOA in late January, but we'll keep checking.
