Hello guys, I think your positive vibes helped and finally my interview was scheduled  😊 I submitted my medical exam with all my documents which means it was more then one year ago. Do you know if is it still valid ?

as long as you submitted your AOS application within 60 days of getting your medical exam signed by the surgeon, it should be valid for 2 years. And congrats on getting your interview scheduled!

Congratulations!! When did you submit your application? Was your medical exam still valid?

Thank you! We filed in April 2019, and did the medical exam in September 2019. We contacted USCIS before our interview to make sure the medical exam was still valid and they told us that since my husband did his medical after we filed AOS it will be valid for 2 years. We gave the medical envelope to the officer and she didn't say anything so it must have been ok!

  3. We had our interview yesterday. They didn't let us in the building earlier than our appointment time. the appointment was at 2:15 and they let us go inside the building at 2:15! We waited for 5 minutes in the waiting area before the interviewer called us. It went very smoothly and was very short. The interviewer was a super nice friendly lady. She asked how we met and when we decided to get married and looked at some of our pictures and asked some questions about our wedding. Then she went through the Yes/No questions in I-485. At the end she said that everything was clear and she just needed to go through our documents. She explained that my husband will receive a conditional 2 year GC and she would see us again for removal of condition interview in 2 years! I guess that means she's going to approve us hopefully soon! Hope we don't have to wait another few months for results!

Good luck to everyone having their interviews or waiting to be scheduled!

We had our interview this morning! It was a smooth process. We arrived about 10 mins early and were called about 20 mins after our scheduled time. The officer said she was ready for us at the scheduled time actually but nobody informed her we were waiting. She swore us in, then basically said she had no questions for us as our evidence was strong and there was no doubt as to the validity of our relationship. She asked if we had any updated evidence we wanted to include and I provided our documents and then she went over the questions on the I-485, made a few updates like our address and my husbands work history. She confirmed when we got married and asked why we moved to Virginia. We also have a pending I-601 which she did not really ask much about either because once again we provided a very detailed statement and evidence. Then she said she would approve us right away if it were not for the waiver and she just needed to review a few documents and both applications would hopefully be adjudicated by today or tomorrow. The whole thing lasted about 20 mins and was a pretty painless process. Good luck to everyone still waiting! Hopefully we’ll have that GC in hand very soon

Thanks for the update! And hope you get the GC very very soon!

Today we were told by our lawyer that the medical exam is only valid for 60 days after it's signed by the doctor and expires after 60 days if it is not submitted to USCIS. I'm pretty sure that this only applies to medical exams that are done prior to filing AOS. That's what it says on USCIS website too. But I just want to make sure because the lawyer thinks we have to redo the medical exam. We filed AOS in April 2019 and my husband did his medical exam in September 2019. Based on USCIS website since it was done after AOS was filed, it should be valid for 2 years. Can others share their experiences? has all of you submitted your medical exams within 60 days of having it done? thank you!

So I contacted USCIS today and asked. I was told that as long as the medical exam is signed after you file AOS, it is valid for two year, no matter when you submit the medical exam to USCIS. Seems like our lawyer was wrong!

  7. Hope we get our interviews earlier than September! Our case status keeps changing! First it changed to "interview cancelled", then to "ready to be scheduled ...", then to "name was updated" while we never requested an update, and yesterday it changed to "initial review"! We actually got an email saying that the status changed to "initial review" but when we check the status on website, it's still "name was updated"! So weird! Not sure what that means. might just be a glitch in their system!

So we've been back in the "Waiting for Interview to be Scheduled" phase.

That's awesome news that they waived the interview!  Unfortunately we didn't submit our medical but we have it...I wonder if it's worth getting in touch with USCIS and seeing if we can send it in directly to the field site.  The problem is the Field Offices seem to RARELY, if EVER, get in touch with folks.

They might actually have to waive some interviews to work on the backlog...this is going to dramatically increase ALL the timelines.

I called them today and asked if we can send our medical and they said no unless you receive a request for it! So I guess they might send us a request if they want to waive the interview but apparently for now they’re only waiving interviews for those who already sent their medicals

  9. Our status changed yesterday from "ready to be scheduled for an interview" to "name was updated"! We never requested a name update so I called this morning and talked to someone who said it was probably a glitch in their system! Not sure! I also asked if we can send them the medicals but she said that we should only send them if we get a request for it. Otherwise we have to wait for the interview to be rescheduled.

Hey guys, how is everyone doing?

i just got a status update for for I 485. It changed from “ interview ready to be scheduled” after it was cancelleD to “ a new card is being produced” today.
anyone got the same update? Does that mean they are issuing the GC without interview?!

my I 130 is still at “case was received”

that's awesome! It probably means that they waived your interview. Congrats! had you already submitted your medical?

Btw, got 2 emails as well (one each for wife and I) - There is added information there. Any ideas what it means or does it come with all cancellations?

    "

    Your Case Status: Decision

On March 31, 2020, we cancelled your interview for your Form I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR ADJUST STATUS, Receipt Number XXXXX, and mailed you a cancellation notice. We will notify you by mail if the appointment is rescheduled, a decision is made, or if we need something from you. Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by April 30, 2020, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

During this step the formal decision (approved/denied) is written and the decision notice is mailed and/or emailed to the applicant/petitioner. You can use our current processing time to gauge when you can expect to receive a final decision."

We got the exact same message in the email! the letter we got was just a cancellation notice and there was no more information there. It only says that they will notify us of any further action is taken on our case or if interview is rescheduled. Later our case status changed to "ready to be scheduled for an interview". I have heard that some people are getting approved without interview but since we haven't sent the medical, I don't think it will happen for us. But I think if the decide to approve a case without an interview they will ask for the medicals and other required documents to be mailed.

So we finally got our "Interview is Scheduled" status change this morning 2/27/2020.  Good news and bad...

The problem is that we are having our destination wedding ceremony around March 28th out of Florida to the Bahamas...it's on a cruise ranging from March 26-30 so if they scheduled us then, we have no choice but to reschedule.  We've already invested lots of money and our guests have already booked flights and secured hotels (some coming from overseas).  I'm hoping they schedule us for at least before March 25th but from my understanding, the interview is usually around exactly one month from your status change.  Hopefully the notice gets here in the next few days and we know our date.

Anyone have experience re-scheduling with the DC office?  My idea was to schedule an infoPASS appointment via phone and then present our information to the actual field office, including our wedding contract, bills and costs associated with our wedding and necessity to reschedule.  Unfortunately this is something we can't just outright postpone or cancel.

interviews are usually 40 days after you get the interview status update. We got our status update on Feb 13 and our interview is on March 23. I’m guessing that your interview would be sometime early April and not in March.

    Blimey that's quite the wait.

btw, the last notice I got was that my wife and my 485s were transferred to the NBC. Since then we've had no more updates for around 50 days. We've already had biometrics taken in Alexandria on 12/18/19

There seems to be conflicting information on whether I'll get another note stating it's moved to the Fairfax field office, or it'll just get updated to 'ready to interview' - Anyone have any input on that?

Not everyone gets the same status updates! Ours went from "biometrics scheduled" to "ready to be scheduled for interview" three months after we did the biometrics!
