  1. I am hoping that our age difference doesn't effect us either. He is going to be 62 and I'll be 44 this year. He is from the UK. I don't believe love knows age and it shouldn't matter. His biggest fear is that he will be viewed as a public charge because of his age. He is actually in better shape physically than I am!

  2. When i went to visit, i took my future MIL & SIL soy candles that were locally made here in Wis. They loved them. Also they dont have Bath and Body works there so i took my SIL some of that as well. Got a coffee table book for the FIL, of Wisconsin. I tried not to be too cheesy ( pardon the pun) lol Good luck on whatever you decide!

    Awesome idea - thanks!

  3. Hello everyone...

I am going to be traveling to my fiance's country in the UK and would like some ideas for gift ideas to give his family members. Nothing expensive, just something "American" or homemade that they would appreciate. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you - and continued good luck for all of us July filers!

OK people, please only add your data to the most recent version of the timeline. If you add it to an old one, you can wipe out other people's entries.

Also, please preview the timeline before you post it. If it looks like this, don't post it! :bonk:

a-jeanne, please let us know your service center and we will get you into the timeline at the proper place.

    Thanks! :)

It's the California Service Center. Actually it was Nebraska and then they transferred to California. Thank you for all your help.

  6. Hi there,

I'm about to fill out and send over the I-134 Affidavit of Support form. But I noticed that the editions available for download here on this site and USCIS say at the top right "exp. 4/30/07" Does that mean that these are expired forms that no longer can be used? If so, where can I get the current ones?

Yes the 4/30/07 is accepted. On the USCIS website it also states that

2/28/07 is also acceptable. Versions 12/04/06, 7/14/06 and 6/17/06 are also acceptable according to this website.

  7. After reading Corissa's post (very sweet!), it got me thinking -- what's our song? Overall, it has to be "City of New Orleans" by Arlo Guthrie. We were driving down Route 1 together, it was January 2006 and it was Bruce's first visit to America. It was cold and snowy, and we were on our way to Daddy's Junky Music so he could mess about with guitars. (Again.) We were totally gaga for each other but hadn't gotten the nerve up to say "I Love You" yet.

We were almost at the shop, when the song came on the radio. I said, "Ooooh, I love this song! I haven't heard it in years!" and we both got very quiet. By the second verse I was in floods of tears -- I suddenly realised how much I loved America in spite of myself, and how much I wanted to be home at last. But there would be no moving without Bruce. I felt an awful longing and so overwhelmed with love -- for Bruce, for home -- that I started bawling. I was in love! But how could I love him and come home without him?

When the song finished, Bruce said quietly, "That was one of the greatest, most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Why are you crying?" I said I was just being silly, it reminded me of being a little girl. He said the song seemed to be calling out to him, speaking to his soul, saying he had at last found a home. From these seeds a plan, a crazy and wonderful plan, emerged. We were in love, and we were going to get back to America by hook or by crook. Bruce learned to play it on the guitar and whenever he sings it, I am back in that car, bundled up in scarves and gloves, crying because I realised I was in love and that despite years of protestations, I really loved my home.

    So....what's everyone's "song"?

(My song while I was waiting for Packet 4 to arrive had to be Tom Petty's "The Waiting" -- couldn't get the chorus out of my head! )

Our song is an oldie but a goodie - "At Last" - Joss Stone version. I noticed after we made that our song, that it is in the movie Pleasantville when they were driving to lover's lane. What a wonderful song.

We have just sent in our I129F on July 7 and just today received notification that it was received on July 9 - How great is that!!! I know that it will be a long wait ahead and am trying to prepare for it. My fiance and I are so looking forward to just being together in America. I am from Wisconsin and my fiance is from the UK. Onward and Upward I say!
