  1. yes; DON'T get caught out with the liquids; it's so annoying... most airports require all liquids, gels and pastes (think laterally! this includes things like toothpaste, even lipstick, and will definitely include the honey) in your hand luggage to be in containers of 100mls or smaller, and stored separately in a plastic zip-lock bag which you can show at various check points

and the UK has restrictions on dairy and meat from outside the EU; I'd read up carefully on the rules before leaving... while, as a previous poster has said, you'd prefer not to get held up in customs because it can be lengthy, you definitely don't want to be caught bringing in something prohibited that you haven't declared

if you check the box as hold luggage none of the size limits I mentioned above will apply, but you'll still need to clear customs :)

have a great trip! you must be excited :)

Thank you Babybluesusie and StillThe Prettiest. Yes, this information helps greatly! Thank you. I will check again with my honey to get him checking on this before I leave tomorrow.

And yes, yes, yes - I am very excited. I have butterflies so bad I think I'm going to throw up.

  2. I am going to miss the VJ site for the next 10 days or so - I am flying out to see my honeybunch in the UK. This will be an interesting experience for me as I have never been out of the country. Maybe someone can help me with a question - I am taking wine, cheese and honey with me and have everything packed in a box. Can they check that box? Does it go towards my weight limit for check in? I am so new and this and emailed the airline and didn't receive any responses. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

One thing I won't stop thinking about is the good news that we are all longing to hear. I am praying that it will be sooner than expected. I keep hearing of the dates going backward - mine went from October 26th to November 25th. Ugh! Let's just keep our chins up and get through this together. As I am with the sunshine of my life, I will think of all of you and pray that you can be with your sunshines soon too!

  3. I have simply refused to get bifocals - I am not ready! My eye doctor has said different for the last two years. So, now I may just have to bite the bullet. I have a double edged sword that if I wear my regular glasses, I have to look over them to see something close up. Then, if I wear my contacts, then I cannot see close up - really sucks and is very frustrating and then still have to wear reading glasses with contacts. So, either way I go I cannot get away from glasses. UNTIL NOW! My doctor wants to try mono vision with me. That is where they fit you with contacts - your strongest eye for far away and your weakest eye for close up. Your body is supposed to make the adjustment and then I won't have to have "reading glasses" for close up. I'm up for it - I don't like the alternative. Lasik would be nice too but I am not so sure about that surgery yet.

  4. "4 Real" is the name parents want to name their son in New Zealand. The registry for birth certificates in that country are refusing that name. The child is 2 months old and still doesn't have a name.

  5. This is awesome:

    Eggplant Bruschetta

    2 tablespoons salt

    1 pound eggplant

    6 tablespoons olive oil

    8 slices Italian bread

1 medium red onion, cut into 1/4-inch dice

2 garlic cloves, peeled and thinly sliced

    Salt and pepper to taste

1/2 cup finely chopped Italian parsley

Peel and slice eggplant into 1/4-inch rounds. Cut each round in half and sprinkle with salt. Place slices in a colander over a bowl or in a sink. Let eggplant sit until it begins to weep, about 1 hour.

Using paper towels, press eggplant to release moisture. Wipe off moisture and salt from slices.

In a 10-inch sauté pan, heat olive oil until smoking (1 to 2 minutes) over medium-high heat.

Add onion and cook until lightly browned and softened (5 to 6 minutes).

Add garlic and cook until soft, about 2 minutes. Add eggplant and cook, stirring frequently, until golden brown and soft (about 20 minutes) and resembles sautéed mushrooms.

Remove from heat, season to taste with salt and pepper and allow to cool to room temperature. Stir in parsley.

Place bread slices on a baking sheet and toast under the broiler until golden, about 2 minutes per side. Divide the eggplant mixture among the bread slices and serve.

  6. I'll have my people contact your people and we'll just do it then! I do have connections through where I work. We manufacture equipment for the movie and TV industry. It's amazing all of the people that I have met through my job. Many from CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX and the NFL. It's a very satisfying job. Speaking to Seal and John Mayer was by far the most exciting. I love my job! That in itself helps me get through this waiting period.

  7. You ladies crack me up! I have a wonderful idea for a TV show. It's like Survivor but it's called "Visa Survivor". They choose 10 couples or so going through the visa journey from different countries and put it on as a reality show. The couples are allowed to be together through the process and the viewers would get to see how painful it is. How entertaining is that?

  8. I prefer a Remington 1100 Automatic 12 gauge shotgun. In Wisconsin we have seasons and the pheasants are typically "home grown" and let loose for hunters to go out and shoot. I enjoy Pheasant hunting and much prefer to travel to Iowa where they have the prime hunting ground for them. Pheasants are getting more popular here in southern Wisconsin because our winters are getting milder so they are making a comback on their own.

  9. Does anyone else's heart skip a beat when you see "ATTENTION JULY FILERS!" in the post? Man - I feel like I'm dodging bullets here. At least sweating bullets! This is how I know that I've been checking the posts too much before bedtime - I had a dream that I saw "ATTENTION JULY FILERS!" and clicked on it and it said - "All July filers are free to move wheverever they want!" I then woke up in a sweat wondering if it were true?

    Wishful thinking.
