I have never known a country to be so obsessed about flag flying. It's a symbol of something, it's not a sacred cow.

i'm not obsessed about flag flying. but, i have to disagree w/ you on that one. to me & many others the US flag is a sacred symbol.

I must be un-American then. I appreciate what the flag means, but it's not sacred by any means. It's just a piece of fabric and they make new ones every day.

who said you were un-American? if you don't feel the flag is sacred..thats your opinion. & when those "pieces of fabric" are sewed together, like i said to me & many others it is sacred.

i'm italian..i've got a tattoo on my right calf of a skin tear out w/ an american & italian flag bulging out. my friends bust on me constantly.

I have no doubt that there is work for dishwashers in Guatemala. At least he has plenty of experience in that field. He wasn't even abitious enough to work his way up to waiter in 11 years.

There is a better way to pay for it, but it would likely get on the bad side of a lot of parents. Right now parents get tax deductions and credits for having kids. We can remove that and simplify the tax system, and use the difference to pay for health care and education.

i dont think parents should be penalized for having kids! basically we DONT get tax breaks on ######! we have to buy more food, more clothes, more everything. theres our contribution to taxes.

Yup. Of course, that sort of fine distinction would require reading comprehension. They went after people who had criminal records and found that 90% of them did have criminal records.

i'm sure i'm getting torched for this but......if this bill is for medical coverage for lower income children, why tax smokers more? why not repeal the Earned Income Credit that their parent get come tax time? seems fair to me medical coverage for low income children paid for by the wind fall their parents get from everyone elses taxes. lets be honest many (not all or most..i said many) of the people getting these returns are not spending it on the kids.

and the other thing everyone is always slamming insurance premiums & deductibles. insurance companies can not stay in business if they are putting out more money than they bring in. why isn't everyone all smoked up about the cost of health care. the insurance companies aren't the ones charging $1500-$2500 for an emergency room visit, a $75 asprin etc. i'm thinking something needs to be done about the price gougeing coming from the medical industry. i understand training, equipment, research & medication costs....but it shouldn't cost as much as it does. these hospitals & drug companies have us by the short hairs yet everyone wants to blame the insurance companies.

As far as using private companies to provide protection, they are less of a target then a bunch of guys in uniforms and Hummers. So our Diplomats are for safer with the private security firms than with the Military protecting them.

do you realize most blackwater personel are former members of US & other countries special forces & not 18-20 year olds. i'm thinking they are a little better equiped & able to provide experienced protection than a kid straight out of boot camp. our military commanders think so also.

Oh please...can we stop this, any criticism of anything from the U.S. as anti-American? For f##ks sake, it's a goddam private company and it's the current Administration that decided to go with using a private contractor for security of US diplomats. To point out another no bid contract (which is factual) is not a condemnation of America or our values...sh!t. If some of you think that is synomous with what is 'America' then this country is deeply divided ideologically as to what is or isn't America.
