  1. Thanks for responding. Yep, we went into our local SSA office when he had his green card and the SSA officer started a third application but it can't be processed until the "mismatched'' is fixed. I haven't talked to USCIS again, yet, but will try tomorrow. I was hoping someone had also experienced this and could provide some pointers but it's been quite here on VJ. Its a black box and I can't even understand what exactly the issue is, yet alone, know how to proceed.
  2. My husband originally came to the US on K-1 visa. We tried to obtain a SSN before we were married but ran into problems. The SSA could never really explain what the problem was other than Homeland Security found an error on our application. Eventually, we ran out of time and were told to reapply once we received his green card. It sounds like this is pretty common during the K-1 process and I wrote about it in another post. So now he has received his green card and we went to the SSA office to reapply for a SSN. First they said we had two pending applications (one from when we tried during the K-1 visa period and another was opened on his behalf I believe since we checked that he wanted a SSN on the I-485 application). However, they could not process the SSN application because of a "mismatch in immigration status"' that was being investigated by Dept of Homeland Security. The SSA officer said there was nothing they could do since it was on the Dept of Homeland Security side but they did cancel the other 2 pending SSN applications. The SSA officer gave us a phone number to call Dept of Homeland Security but that number was a dead end. I reached out to USCIS and they said we would probably need to schedule an appointment with the local field office (they couldn't go into more detail since my husband wasn't around when I called them and they could only speak to the issue with him). We'll reach back out to USCIS tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to proceed? Has anyone had a similar experience and how did you solve it?
  3. Hi All, We had our interview last Thurs (May 19) and we were approved! During the interview, they said they had no medical or vaccine record. We sent the vaccine record in with the I-485 application. Luckily, I had a copy of the vaccination record the civil surgeon provided and they accepted it. Frustrating they didn't have it but at least we weren't delayed. Otherwise, the interview went smoothly. Got the notice of approval in the mail but still waiting to receive the actual green card. Hopefully, soon! Question: The EAD and AP are no longer needed after obtaining a green card, correct? I thought I saw somewhere here on VJ where someone had their green card but was waiting for their AP too before traveling to be safe.
  4. No, wish we did. Tried a few banks and I wasn't able to put him on my current accounts or open one together. Mostly due to not having ssn; which is separate issue--we tried to get ssn too and couldn't get it.
  5. Hi All, Working on getting the documents ready for our interview for permanent residence next Thurs. This is what I have so far (below). Am I missing anything? Do I need to provide much evidence of relationship prior to his arrival in the US, i.e. the evidence that was in the I-129f application? I am providing some pictures of our relationship from beginning to date. Thanks for any feedback! Documents taking to interview: -I-485 application replica -I-485 NOA2 (original and copy) -Both passports (beneficiary and petitioner) and copies of bio page of both passports -Copy of K-1 visa -I-94 -Originals and copies of both our birth certificates -Certified copy marriage certificate -NOA1 EAD (don't think I need this) -NOA1 Advanced Parole (again, don't think I need this) Evidence of a relationship -Health insurance (he is on my plan) -Credit cards ( he is an authorized user) -Phone plan with 2 lines -Photos (focused heavily on time since his arrival -our wedding, photos at holidays with family and friends, a few pictures of our relationship prior to his arrival)
