Title says your form is I-751, so I will assume husband is the USC spouse…and so best to just ask him what he prefers and go with that…and you will be perfectly fine. Whenever space permits you should always add  “ John Doe” AKA “ John Doe Smith…on blank last page of the form

His Proper Real Name is the one on his birth certificate, of course, with the DOS APELIDOS ( maternal and paternal)…but he seems to have given up using the DOE SMITH a long time ago. It gets challenging to fight for corrections, space if both apelidos are long such “ Hernandez Gutierrez “ ..

Thanks for this. I’ll keep that in mind

  2. My husband has two different last names. He’s a Mexican so his name in birth certificate is ex: John Doe smith but his SS number and passport his name is only John Doe. Most of the documents im submitting has his name John Doe Smith on them except our taxes and marriage certificate and our daughters birth cert. this has always been a problem when I submit docs, he’s been using his John Doe name officially since he grew up but for some reason when he goes to DMV to get his drivers license, his name appears to be John Doe smith since they follow what’s on his birth certificate not his Social, and everything follows, our bank account, his docs at work, our bills since I think he uses his drivers license as an ID. I know it’s a complete headache, I want to blame my mother in law lol but I just want to be sure the immigration doesn’t think The docs im submitting are from two people.

my question is, what name should I put on the form? Is it John Doe or John Doe Smith?

  3. My husband and i went to the bank yesterday so that i could be added to his account. She asked for two IDs but i only have my passport so i gave the banker  my social security number, she didnt accept it because according to her my last name in my passport doesnt match my social security. When i got my social security, they added my middle name which is my last name when i was single, because in the philippines you carry that name with you. Unfortunately they cut it and just put three letters of it. I dont know why they did that but i hate it and want it to be removed, espescially now that its giving me problems. So i called social security and asked if it could be corrected and they said they just follow whats in my greencard but i dont even have my greencard yet and that i couldnt change it. If i get my state id, it seems like its gonna be the same as my social security. I only have my passport as another id so i dont want them to say it doesnt match either. Had i known this i shoudve dropped the name and just put my given name cause they even didnt put it completely. Has anyone had problems with opening a bank account? And also can i have my name corrected and remove the four letters of my middle name? The guy i talked to at social security said i couldnt change cause it has to be the same with my greencard

  4. Does anyone know if its okay to travel to mexico without my green card? I came here to the US with my spouse visa, and in my visa it indicates that it can serve as a temporary green card for a year. My green card hasnt come yet i bet because of the pandemic. Some of my husband's family live in mexico , his aunt is having a birthday party on december. We want to know if its okay, cause we dont want to risk going and have me cause problems coming back.

    Hello all

My wife just got approved for an expedited interview in Manila. I was told by some helpful folks here that she can get her medical prior to getting the interview date set. My question is...can she simply make the appointment and go WITHOUT A VISA APPOINTMENT LETTER?

Also, how long are these medicals good for?

This is for an IR1 (spousal). Thanks!

I just do not want to give her the wrong information. She is very moody and I do not want to deal with her wrath if I am wrong and she goes there for nothing.

I had expedited my case but didnt do the medical prior because it was difficult to travel, luckily when i was able to travel and was already in manila, they emailed me my interview schedule. Some filipinas i spoke to couldnt believe i have an interview date already because they said they had to email the embassy that theyre done with medical so they can have their schedule of interview.

They do interviews for spouse visas, you just need to wait for your schedule i guess but if you want to risk and have her get her medical before getting an interview date its up to you.

  6. My husband got his visa last August from the LA consulate. He had to make calls and emails just to verify cause he had to send two mails cause they said they need me to have a signed letter stating reason for travel and prove that i was in the philippines. I had it electronically signed and emailed to him. He got his visa in 3 days. Luckily he had all our original papers cause i had him bring it just in case he needs it. I remember emailing the consulate myself from time to time and following up if the documents are good to go already.

@Gelline did you get your passport yet? My daughters visa got issued 3days after they received the document. Does anyone know how long will it take from issued to be delivered? When I entered the passport number in 2GO it says invalid. Any advise?  Thank you

yes i got it two working days after being issued. Depends on your location i think. I called 2go a day before i got the passport and told me they dont have it yet but i think because they used my maiden name in the delivery. I also tracked it but it said invalid too.

If CFO told you she needed a sticker, then this truly shows how much of a scam CFO really is, and they are only there to make money.

Or this is an early Aprils Fools gag.

I know. They tell you different. I dont know who hndles their FB page but they need to be trained more. The information is all over the place and when you try to call them, the line is always on hold and nobody answers

No the CFO sticker is not needed.   CFO is for exiting Emigrates only (they have a visa) .. which your daughter is not being she is a dual citizen.

When exiting present both passports;  The U.S. passport will exempt her from CFO and the Philippine passport will exempt her from the ECC .

Thank you. I confirmed to them and they said she doesnt need it

When we come out of this pandemic, you will need to double check on the visa requirements for the countries that you will travel too.  Its true in the past that many times a US passport has not needed a visa, however times have changed.  Even the Philippines is considering having US passport holders apply for a visa going forward in the future.  Whether they implement it or not, remains to be seen, but there are many other countries with a similar mindset.  The one thing I keep telling people at the company I work at is to stop thinking like its 2019 when it comes to travel.  The expectation is it will be a whole new ballgame when travel picks up again.

I know. I had my husband apply for visa so he can come to the philippines and be with us going to the US cause its diffcult to travel with a daughter with just me. The things we had to go through just to get that visa for him to come, its just chaos. But im glad were all done with that. We just have to be patient and just know how deal with how things are going with this pandemic

I'm slightly confused?  She has a visa???  Where would she be going where she needs a visa?  Her U.S. passport will allow her to go most places without a visa.  If you are going to U.S. she certainly is good to go and CFO has no involvement at all.

I have two daughters with the same situation.  Dual citizens with both passports.  They have traveled to U.S., Hong Kong and New Zealand.  They are U.S. citizens so the U.S. passport allows them to travel to these places without a visa.  Their mom, a Philippines citizen, had to get a visa for U.S. and New Zealand.

Make sure you bring both passports and always give both to the agent.

She has a US passport. I dont know about the government here theyre kind of confusing sometimes.

  11. Hi, does anyone know if i need to get a CFO sticker for my daughter? She is a dual citizen, US and PH. She is holding a US passport and a Philippine passport and departing from the Philippines the first time. I asked the CFO and they said she needs one. I just want to confirm if anyone has this experience cause what i understand is that this is a requirement for those that have a visa.

    Thank uou

Wow congrats Gelline! Safe travels 😊

Thank you. You will get yours soon. If you want you can email them or call them to get an update. Just check the status everyday,if its being updated thats a good sign plus they have your passport. I was worried too but i just kind of like let it go and just waited for it. All the best🙂

When you did your interview last month what was it like at the embassy? Did you wait outside? How busy was it in the embassy during the interview? Etc etc.

I got interviewed sept 14. There were few people being interviewed as compared to before. I thinke theres only like around 20 people waiting for their interviews inside so it wasnt busy at all. I was there for an hour.

    Did you email or call?

I emailee them. I just checked right now and my status changed to issued. My visa will be sent to me within the week. Btw i took my medical exam sept 10, i guess they just received it thats why it took long. Your gonna get yours soon.

@Gelline did you get any new update on your Visa? I saw others who was interviewed September 15, got their visa issued. Maybe try to call or email the embassy.

My daughter got 221g, I mailed the docs they requested but will reach Manila on Friday. I'm just looking on a positive side that we'll send the documents along with her passport. I will call and email them on Monday.

Yes they told me they received my medical report and forwarded it to a consul for review. And they dont know when it would be completed. I guess i just need to be patient and wait for it, they have my passport and i see my case get updated everyday.

I wonder how should we go about this. I mean, SLEC said they only upload medical result to a database, right?

May I know how your consul looks like?

    Were you given a 221g

I dont know how they upload it. I told them i had my medical Sept 10th at the pre screening and the lady left the window to check it and came back said nothing. But i noticed they had a folder with my case number labeled on it.

I wasnt given a 221g. My interview went fast and good. Consul told me he recommends my visa for approval and gave me a piece of paper with information on how to track my visa status. I left embassy thinking i was done with all this immigration process

The consul is a young white guy, black hair.

I guess im just trying to be patient now and i see my case being updated everyday so im just waiting cause they didnt really tell my anything and they didnt respond to my email.

At least they gave you a timeline, if you dont receive your visa within that time best to contact them.

  17. I got my interview approved last Sept 14. I tried emailing embassy about the status of my visa cause it still says ready but they havent replied to me. All i see is that they opened my case on the 24th around the time i emailed them

Interesting, this 6 month club is an official "title", I learned something new today! I had a thought, this exemption applies for traveling and you need to have a passport valid for your intended period of stay in the US. It might not apply for applying for a visa since it is addressed as the first question in the FAQs.

I also just remembered I applied for a J-1 visa as an exchange student and I was told to prematurely renew my PH passport as even if it was about 8 -10 months from my departure because it was cutting too close. OP @Gelline maybe it's best to contact the US embassy to be sure.

Yup i dont think i can get my medical until i get my passport. Cause when i register it says there i need to get a 6 months validity passport. But ill try to contact them maybe if i bring a receipt showing i am renewing my passport theyll let me get it

Reading your post it seems that your passport is still valid for over 6 months. I don't understand your issue. But in answer to your question if your passport is valid, it is valid. That includes every day up to the expiration date.

Isnt my passport valid for less than 6 months? I dont know if i counted it right but its already August and my passport expiration is February. Im thinking if it should be okay to schedule a medical and interview at this time given the validity of my passport. While i was trying to register at the st lukes website, it says there passport should be valid for more than 6 months.

  20. Hi,

We have been approved for expedite however i havent received my new valid passport yet. My old passport expires on Feb 14 2021. I have applied for a renewal of my passport 2 months ago but i havent received it yet because the processing got delayed because of COVID. I was planning to schedule my medical this month. Can i still do my medical and interview with my old passport?

    Thank you
