Can't believe this part of my journey is finally over. What a relief! Brief Timeline: Applied for VAWA and AOS March 2020. Self filed with help of this forum, no rfes except for medicals last month. Vawa approved exactly 1 year ago. RFE for medicals in April, responded within one week, today, exactly one month later, ya girl now has her green card! DMV area. See y'all in 2 years and 9 months lol

Got RFE for medicals today. Vawa approved last May. Does this still mean no interview these days? Also how long after you submitted your medicals was your green card approved? I hope this means my journey is almost over... my thief of a civil surgeon is charging a whole $700 for that medical but i just don't have it in me to fight this or travel to somewhere else to do it so whatever.

Ran into my ex over the weekend at a social event for the first time in 2-3 years. I know he has no idea how I have been because my family and friends have been a protective vault with regards to me and my wellbeing. Judging from his reaction, I gather he expected me to die of misery following our awful marriage and even worse separation/ongoing divorce. But I didn't - in that time I have lost all the weight i gained in my suffering, graduated, and now work as a physician at a fantastic hospital, moved into a cute little condo, and just overall living my best life. Finally. He said hello, I responded cordially and i think we both realized at the same time that I am now blissfully indifferent. I always thought I would hate him or be resentful but turns out I just really don't care anymore. Guess who now wants to go to therapy and do everything to work this out? Hahaha. Never again. This process is long, draining, and still ongoing for me but i am grateful it has helped me find myself again even though that felt impossible at some point just a year or two ago. We just all need to hang on a bit longer, this story will have a happy ending for us.

did it myself with @sandranj's help and read almost all past vawa threads. 3pfs, no rfe, approved last year. waiting for gc now.

looool i'm the doctor in this scenario so everyone from my siblings to my cousins and nieces/nephews, even close family friends, all hate me for this reason because my parents/their parents won't give it a rest.

is there a reason you don't want to just use the AP? I didn't have h1b but i had an f1. Used it till it expired then moved to AP but I also never mentioned the AP/vawa application to them at the border at all.

Found someone online, also worked 6 days a week so i did it virtually over 3 months (jan to march 2020); 2 hour sessions each x3. paid $1000. Evaluation was super detailed with >20 pages. This forum emphasizes in person but especially now post covid, virtual is probably fine - at least it was for me.

Get a detailed psych eval. You need that or a police report.

I know but i may not have a choice. Thanks. Yes, I got both emails back to back. Currently in the DMV area but I graduate this week and i'm moving to the midwest soon so still weighing the pros and cons of changing my address now.

3PFs. No RFE. Applied without a lawyer. i485 has also been transferred so that wait has started but for now, I am grateful. Good luck to everyone still waiting.

did it DIY but had a lot of help from @sandranj. I went back and read all the older vawa threads i could find till I kinda got the hang of it. The application hasn't changed much since them. No approval yet, 3 PFs, 2EADs and no RFE (don't worry these words will make sense as you start reading) but yeah, if you have the time and think it is something you can do, go for it - if not, find a good lawyer. so many of them just want your $ and actually know nothing about this.
