We just recently found out we are pregnant while my husbands AoS is pending! Just was wondering what alternatives were available other than my work insurance as it’s very expensive for both me and baby to be on it! My husband is waiting on his green card interview.

just was wanting thoughts on possibly using CHIP for the baby when he/she is born. I qualify with my income. I just don’t want anything to adversely affect my husbands immigration journey down the road ! If it will we will go another route.

I should qualify *. I looked more into it and more than likely will make too much for it. Oh well! We will look into other options. Thankfully we aren’t scrambling and I have plenty of time to do my homework on some insurances available through the marketplace!

Go ahead and utilize CHIP for your baby as your baby will be a US citizen.

Pertaining to your husband you'll need a joint sponsor if your income is too law, as others have mentioned already.

My income is not too low thankfully! We were looking more towards affordability than desperation anyway we have a lot of options it was just worth exploring since a lot of people I know used CHIP with their kids. But since our situation is a little different we will just utilize either the marketplace or when my husband is Eligible to start working see if his family insurance premiums would be more reasonable. Thank you!

  3. Thanks guys; looking into it I probably wouldn’t even be eligible for it.

The USC 's are perfectly fine to use whatever benefit is available. The only problem would come up if let's say you apply for foodstamps because you don't have enough money which most likely would also mean that you wouldn't have enough money to sponsor him. But even that can be solved with a joint sponsor.

Thank you. Researching more into it we more than likely would not qualify anyway. I will lean more toward using the marketplace for the baby or when my husband starts working (when he gets his ead) to see if the family plan  where he works is more affordable!

Yes, you will be just fine! My AOS package arrived at the lockbox on 02/19/2021 and case status online says my case was received 02/19/2021. Found this on the USCIS website. Hopefully it eases your worries:

    “C. Date of Receipt

USCIS considers a benefit request ‘received’ on the date it is physically or electronically received. This date is also known as the filing date. Requestors may only obtain a date of receipt or filing date if their submission is accepted at the proper location, as designated on the USCIS website. USCIS does not assign a date of receipt or filing date to benefit requests that are rejected.”

Thank you! Wow yours sounds like it was fast. You have your NOA1 already? Or did you just get a notification that it was received and are still waiting for yours? Ours shows delivered as far as usps tracking is concerned; but unfortunately We didn’t include the e-notification form so no updates until we get that NOA1 in hand!

Been following this thread and it’s been helpful thus far. Checks got cashed today!! Thank God.🤗 Now awaiting NOA text and receipts.

2/8/21- AOS package mailed via FedEx

2/11/21- package delivered to Chicago lockbox

    2/12/21-checks cashed

Hey there! Congrats 🎈🎉🍾🎊 but I’m confused by your timeline I guess. How were your checks cashed on 2/12/21 but you are saying they are cashed today?

Look at this timeline, insanely fast:

That’s great for them! They did send it in though before the lockbox released that statement which was on the 8th stating the delays though, and it sounds like that persons paperwork was received before that notice. Just something to keep in mind. Hopefully things start revving up soon though with the vaccine and all that!

Anyone knows how long it is currently taking from i 485 packet being delivered to check cashed or NOA sent?

According to the USCIS lockbox update that they posted at the beginning of January they are saying that people may have delay 4-6 weeks.
However when we were using the Emma chat on the USCIS site the agent stated up to 90 days. So I’m not sure 😕

We are keeping a copy of our marriage certificate, USPS receipt with the date on it , and photocopy of the completed I-485 as evidence in an overabundance of caution. We are also printing out the same USCIS lockbox update webpage that I mentioned before. That way we are covered if it comes up before then.

Oh my goodness. We shipped ours out yesterday using USPS too, now I'm a little worried. Did you use priority mail?

Yes we used priority. We sent it the 11th and then it got stuck on “in transit, arriving late” on the 15th up until 0:00 this morning and then it continually updated until it was delivered in the late afternoon.  I am thinking maybe some of it had to do with the storm or at least the bulk of it any way. Hopefully your package goes through seamlessly!
