  1. Hello everyone:

I just checked my online account yesterday and it says Interview scheduled for april 24. I applied on November 25, 2023 and I have a pending I751.
We are moving to a new house on april 15. We are staying in the same county. Do you guys know how long it takes for USCIS to update the new address after you do it online. Since we moving on april 15, is it better to do the address change on that date or Is there a way to start it few days before just to make sure I don’t miss any letters from USCIS in the transition period.

sorry when debt to IRS is paid m they usually send a letter saying the obligation has been met

If u have this or your billed amount and copy of bank check or bank statement or MO showing its paid,  u are good to file N 400 without worry

I ‘m confused too, because we did our tax with HR block and we paid online in spot the full amount and IRS accepted our tax return. Then I was recently checking online on out account And I found we have balance from last 2 years.

  3. I am about to apply for citizenship, marriage based, we did our tax me and my wife together last 3 years using H&R block and randomly I was checking our account and I found that’s we gave a balance due to pay for IRS, However we already paid and done our tax with a professional agency. I m pretty sure H&R block miscalculate our tax. My question is do I need to fix that first and wait to apply for citizenship or I just send my tax return for 3 years, Since fixing that tax thing may take time

Based on what you describe, you were sent to secondary. Yes, it happens to some people when returning to the US. Given that experience I'd minimize international travel until you get 10 year GC or naturalize. Unless you're ok going to secondary again.

Is your immigration history complex? E.g. were you out of status or claimed asylum or WAVA?

Otherwise, maybe it was just bad luck.

Nothing on my immigration history. I had family based adjustment of status. Yes I agree with you, it’s better to avoid traveling with this letter because also most airlines aren’t used to this paper which make your boarding takes longer than expected and make it impossible to do online check in.

  5. I went to canada last month for a week with my wife. I traveled with my expired Green Card and Extension Letter 48 months. Everything was fine until the day I was coming back home from Canada, the officer at US Customs told me that he couldn’t read my fingerprint or my fingerprint are very low quality, so I had to wait for 1 hour for the supervisor in the immigration area to come and check on that. The supervisor was very professional and he asked a couple questions and he let me enter. I had a job interview next day and I was worried that I miss my flight and I miss this opportunity. Does anyone had issues entering US with extension letter?

Yes,  the old one is returned but this does take time

as the old one is sent to Morocco for processing the new one

mail to and from Morocco and back to you takes time / 7 weeks is probably a hopeful time / with covid ,  it may be longer

glad you kept the copy as it will show your visa entry and that it actually expired / hope you did copy the visa page too not just the profile page

Yes, it takes at least 7 weeks thats what they told when I called, I did copy for all pages of my old passport.

  7. Hello,

I just got my interview notice for AOS k1 and I 'm april filler, they asking me to bring passport that I used when I  entered to the United states, but this passport is already expired and I sent it to my embassy to renew it(you have to send the expired passport with application and they return you new one and old one) I called embassy about how long it takes and they said at least 7 weeks so I will not have it for my AOS interview, do you think that is ok if I don't take the expired passport with me to interview, I have copy of this passport that's enough. Thank you

Thank you and we got Jan 2nd notice online and it took until the 19th to get the mail so over two weeks. I was getting nervous but people told me thats not uncommon so just be patient it should be there soon.

Just I need to know date of my interview so my wife could arrange to be off that's day because she needs to ask for day off or reschedule in advance, so there is any way to find what day interview will be before notice in mail

I got the electronic notification that I had an interview scheduled on Jan 11th, and the physical letter arrived on Jan 16th. So, for me, 5 days.

You'll likely see yours very soon!

And what if I request an electronic notice through a link to know what's date of my interview just in case notice arrives too late in mail.

We're getting very frustrated with the whole SSN thing. My husband received his EAD card in August, but still hasn't been able to get his SSN. Every time he calls, they tell him he needs to mail in his original birth certificate, EAD card, and passport. Once they verified those documents, then they will schedule an appointment. Why does he have to mail in the most important documents he has? We can't risk those going missing while he's waiting for his green card. He checked the box saying he wanted the SSN automatically assigned too, so it's very annoying that one hasn't been and he can't get one now.

Also, his Green Card status has been stuck on "biometrics scheduled" since late July. He had his biometrics taken on August 12th. He got his EAD & his AP, but no change has been made associated with his GC. He calls every other week and can't make any progress on either. And, no one will hire him without his SSN. He was offered 3 jobs so far and all backed out. I feel so badly that he's basically just stuck in limbo.
Just venting, but I still don't understand why he needs to send his original documents off just to have an appointment scheduled.

I was in same situation as you, I called social security office after receiving my Ead card and they told me I'm not in the system and ask me to fax a letter explaining my urgent need for SSN and they will put me on waiting list. But just yesterday I called again to check if my name is in their system and good news:I just issued a SSN few days ago and my card will be mailed to me in 2 to 3 weeks that what they told me. I received my EAD card October 2. Try to call to check if your husband name in the system because I just called like a week ago and they told me I'm not. Good luck

Finally we had an appointment with SSA today (waited for 3 weeks) to apply for SSN. We brought husband’s passport and

combocard. The SS guy in the window asked my husband to fill the form SS-5, then looked in his computer and said, «Somebody already did it for you ».. Turned out since October 19 my husband’s name is in the SS system, he has SSN and his SS card is in the mail👏😀🤭🙏 The guy gave us my husband’s SSN. Now we just have to wait for the SS card to arrive.

    P.S. Biometrics 8/28, combo 9/29, AOS interview scheduled 10/29.

Congratulations. I received my combo card 10/02 and i havn't yet received yet my SS card. Until now I can't get an appointment and i called office here in California to get one but they said fax us a letter with ur phone number and why u need it and we put you on waiting list to get an appointment, I did that like a week ago and I haven't heard anything yet, I asked the representative if I'm already in the system, she checked with my name and said no. Did u called before to check if ur name is on system

Adil did not change his Moroccan ID

he just mailed in the old passport and application

we had to show proof of address to have the card mailed to the right place (and that was for my son's lost card -a USC)

ny of the following are needed by SS on webpage as proofs

    • I-551 Permanent Resident Card;
    • I-94 Arrival/Departure Record with unexpired foreign passport or admission stamp in the unexpired foreign passport; or
    • I-766 Employment Authorization Document, (EAD, work permit) from DHS.

    Ok thanks so much

first take a copy of the passport profile page and the visa page before you send anything out (BTW you will get the old one back when new one is process -just for your information)/ will take longer than a month / mail to US Morocco office and then they mail to Morocco,  do the paperwork and mail it back to US embassy

take your original marriage license to SS office (some have required this)/ along with 2 proofs at US address (photo ID like driving license or name on a utility bill or rent lease, etc.)

The Morocco embassy in DC handles passport renewals for Morocco passports / if you send to one of the other embassies ,  it has to be forwarded to DC (and wastes time)

Address: 1211 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20036

Ya good to know that's embassy in dc who handle passport renewal. I looked in their website and i found that you have to change ID in order to renew passport bcs i still have my moroccan address on my Moroccan ID, so do i need to sent all in one mail or separate mail if you have already been in the same process. For SSN are you sure that they ask for proof of address?

  16. Hi, my PD is 05/05/2020. I had fingerprint appointment 08/28.I received my combo card 2 weeks ago. I_485 still on fingerprint received. My passport will expire on January 2021 and the process to renew it at embassy takes at least 1 month.I just got an appointment in social security office to apply for SSN next week because i have not received my social security card after receiving my combo card so i will need my passport to apply for ssn. My question is: do I need my passport for interview AOS because i need to start renewing it next month and send my old passport to embassy so I will not have my passport for at least 1 month. What if i will get my interview and I don't have my passport. I know that's based on my priority date It may takes awhile but who knows. Do I have to present a passport for Aos or I can just give them my combo card as an ID? Thanks in advance and I hope the best luck for every one here in this very helpful forum ☺️

    I would double

I was delayed in getting my SSN when I arrived and was able to use my A-Number as a placeholder for a SSN for both health insurance and the marriage license. I am not sure about the nursing license, but perhaps you can ask if that's possible? The employees I spoke to in both cases didn't know that was possible until they went to their higher ups/managers and checked.

Oh i will contact them about that, thanks

An expedite can be requested directly to USCIS via phone. I also heard they can take a paper request, although idk if that's still happening right now or not.

It can also be requested via a congressperson or the ombudsman on your behalf.

I'm unaware of doing so via email directly...as you have probably discovered, there is not a public email for doing so. Note that this is different than communication with DOS (NVC or a consulate), in which email tends to be the primary form of communication.

Request for an expedite of an EAD via in-person appointment would not apply. In-person appointments are only available for certain activities now. Previously, anybody could make an appointment via Infopass online. That program went away a couple years ago - all appointments go through their customer service and must be for specific activities that cannot be done done via phone or in person.

This differs from some other activities, such as requesting emergency AP (e.g. to leave the US for the death of a close family member). This can be done in-person w/o an appointment.

Typically biometrics must be completed before they will consider an expedite. Although I have seen a handful of cases recently where an EAD was issued w/o biometrics (the biometrics section said it was unavailable on the card), presumably due to COVID-19 making biometrics impossible.

    Ya thanks for these informations
