So Ur husband applied for a k1 visa and he the officer told him it was approved but gave him ds5535 and took them 5 months to process it, can i ask what was ur husband working at the time and where did he travel and was he denied a visa before?

He came on a K1, the day of interview the officer told him everything looked good, but he needed one more paper to give him the visa, and that was the ds5535. He was working at a bank in Beirut and he only traveled to Mexico once.

I just did my cr1 visa interview today in Beirut lebanon and it went well the officer said that my visa is approved but then he remembered that there is one last thing to do before giving me the visa which is to process the DS-5535 which is a background check now i have heard that some people who were given this form waited for months on end and some heard 2 weeks later did anyone get this form and how long till you heard back from the embassy

My husband went thru the same situation back in January 2021, he received his visa until June.

Did you ever get information back from the embassy or did the WOM work? My husband and I are now in the same situation (Colombia). His passport was returned through courier about 80 days after his interview with no additional information. His status shows refused.

Hi! My husband was under AP for 6 months. We saw movement after we filed the WOM. After about 3 months the visa was issued.

Hello everyone finally after we got done with the interview that we waited forever but now wife's case is under administrative processing since April 19 2021. They asked her to renew her medical and after they received it the status changed from ready to administrative processing without the 221g .Our priority date is September 2018 . Anybody from Lebanon has similar situation ? Thank you in advance

My Fiancé is under AP in Beirut as well. Over 100 days now. They requested his passport a month ago, only to return it without a visa.

The embassy asked for my passport a week ago and I mailed it to them, today I received my passport with no visa in it! case still showing as refused! Has anybody went through this before?

Yes! My Fiancé  from Lebanon. Embassy asked for passport and he received it with no visa or further instructions and now the embassy won’t reply to any emails.

I think I am going through the , what is it 5? , stages of grieving. Sorry if I get upset, but ppl from counties that are stable and dont have rockets, bullets, IED, suicide bombers, and kidnapping/torture to worry about have absolutely no idea how important it is to get through this process in a reasonable time. It especially drives me crazy that there are many Iraqis that the Americans have already done these extreme backgrounds checks on. The Americans have files on them. What else do they need to know that they dont already know.

Anyone that has ever been on the phone with their spouse, hear rockets go off and the phone go dead knows what Im talking about.

I totally understand you! Lebanon is not the exception, different situation but things get worse by the minute there... not fair what they put us through 🥺

Considering it can take anywhere from 2 months to 4 years to clear DS5535....

yes it is normal to be given your passport back. Especially if u have to travel to another country to get your interview cause the embassy in your country is closed. Totally ridiculous to take over 2 years to get a spousal visa. Some ppl here get fiancé visas in 6 months.

I petitioned my fiancé since 2019! I don’t even know if to cry or laugh at this point 🤷🏽‍♀️ It’s ridiculous

The DS 5535 is insane. Just an excuse to keep us in AP forever. It is being reviewed by current administration for its effectiveness and usefulness. Hopefully it will be thrown out. It is part of the Muslim ban BS. We got it as well in December 2020. But was cleared and told “processing completed “ but idk what happened when we got put back into AP for no reason. It kills me that they don’t communicate anything. Id like to know what they are so worried about so I can send proof that it isnt a problem.
no one understands the level of crazy until u go through DS5535. Some of the questions on it were on another level.

Exactly! It’s ridiculous! I believe from the time a petition is sent, it goes through many stages before arriving to the embassy, including many background checks. If they were to find anything ilegal with the beneficery  there’s no way the USCIS would give you an approval.

Yes.  Were were under AP for a couple days.  Administrative processing is 100% normal and nothing to worry about.

I just don't know why they returned the passport.  My wifes country was mexico and so the process may be different for your embassy.

We’ve been waiting for 72 days now, he was initially requested to fill out form DS 5535, common for the Middle East :(

    This is normal for K1s.

My wifes k1 visa switched a few times, I want to say twice.

Idk why it does it, but just does.  I've seen some people state it just means someone is touching the case lol

But my wife never recieved her passport back prior to getting the visa.  They actually took it at the end of her interview.

The day of the interview the consular returned the passport, that’s why for some reason they requested my fiancé to submit it. We’re you under administrative process too?

Jim Hacking Law Practice. There are a lot of ppl that us him on VJ. He has done a lot for Middle Eastern ppl. He even has ppl in his practice that speak Arabic if u need it. He filed really fast once I hired him. One thing I like is that they kee u up to date every time something happens with ur case via email.
He is one of many. Watch his videos on u tube to get better idea of his practice.

Yes! I’ve seen him and actually he was my go to. I’ll def. reach out to them again.
    Thank you so much!

Im confused why would it go from immigrant to non-immigrat. Did they switch it from K1 to something else. I didnt think that was possible. Maybe someone else can comment on that part.

I petitioned my husband for IR1, we got notice for processing completed in Jan2021 and asked to submit passport for visa. We got visa back without stamp, they said reason was for needing current medical. We gave them proof and they admitted it was current, but placed us in admin processing anyway and wont tell us why. I have asked many times as well as lawyer. Strange that ur case is doing something weird as well.

Technically the K1 is a non immigrant, but showed immigrant on the CEAC. Honestly we thought we were about to get the visa issued since they requested passport, out medical  is current etc.

  13. Hi all,

My Fiancé has been in Administrative Process since January, the Embassy requested his passport last week, and today he got it back but there was no visa. The status on CEAC changed with a new case created date also it went from immigrant to non-immigrant but it went back to REFUSED.
Has anyone experienced something similar. Why would the embassy ask for the passport and sent it back without a visa? 😞

It would just be easier for consulates to allow us to reunite with our loved ones. Yes there’s a pandemic but also we are leading our lives with precautions so interview with precautions too. Lagos consulate says it’s because of the pandemic they aren’t processing K1 visas but go on to process hundreds of other visas

Exactly! Many embassies have stated interviewing K1s. We had ours back in January 2021 and still waiting for the visa
