  1. so i know its been asked many times.but i want to start with fresh info.

my wife wants to become a US citizen.shes doing it online rite now and having some problems.first question at this time is what tax information do we need to show we file taxes together?

My wife, daughter, and I returned from the Philippines to the US in Jan this year.  We had a round-trip ticket also purchased online.  My wife is a green card holder and daughter US citizen, same as yours.

For my daughter and I there was no fee.  For my wife when we checked in she was directed to another counter near the entrance, they viewed her GC and gave her a piece of paper that she had to show the airline counter before they would issue her a boarding pass.  With that paper there was no charge and to get the paper there was no fee.  It took about 10-15 mins extra for that process.

That was the Manila airport, I'd guess it's similar in Cebu.

that sounds like the waiver for it as it was probably included in the ticket price.i wondered that about my wife and daughter but wasnt sure.i may need to call cathay pacific to find out if it was.i will inform my wife about this as well.i did tell her she may need to call or go in person.hopefully there will be atm access if needed and they dont accept debit card for the fees.thank you :)

  3. My wife and our 8 month old daughter will be returning back to the US in a few days. i am trying to figure out what the fees are for Cebu Airport?

my wife is a green card holder. our daughter is a US born Citizen. tickets were purchased online here in the states and are a round trip.

i read different info so anyone who has recently done this or knows for sure please let me know. i am confused on what i have found so far.

thanks in advance for replies :)

  4. i personally would wait until the new tax transcript comes in.when i filed it was for the last 3 years.so if you wait until 2017 season then just send 2015,2016,2017 together.

the transcript should be available immediately if done online.the following link has the info and links to do so.

    https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/request-a-transcript-or-copy-of-a-prior-year-tax-return

my wife waited i think a week if not sooner for her interview in Manila.i cant remember exactly.i think we had to change it at 1 point as some documents were not in order.you can go to the website and see what dates are available. (i forgot the link)

i do know you want to be here asap and get everything done.but i will say take your time.it took my wife and i 2 and a half years to get her here.its all worth it.shes been here almost 2 years..shes now back in the Philippines with our 8 month old daughter visiting her family.she will fly back here in a few days.

Correct, neither the Philippines or the USA require anything - As noted in my posting also..     BUT also noted was in regard to some countries that don't share this thinking, and if there are stop-overs .. well ...

It is one piece of paper, for immense peace of mind.

i didnt think about that. Glad this was brought up. she will be most likely laying over in China somewhere.not sure where exactly yet.

@Hank_ Since the child is traveling with one parent that is not needed at all. But as we have said before on here it is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it in regard to the Philippines.

@nathanp What province is your asawa from if you don't mind me asking?

shes from Agusan Del Sur but had been living in Manila when she was 14.

Children Traveling With One Parent Or With Someone Who Is Not A Parent Or Legal Guardian. ... While the U.S. does not require this documentation, many other countries do, and onward travel could be impeded without a notarized permissionletter and/or other documentation.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) strongly recommends that the accompanying adult have a note from the non-traveling parent.

thank you. thats exactly what we will do. found a form online with the information and will be notarizing it today. again i appreciate it.

  10. what is the required documents for my wife to travel to the Philippines with our 7 month old daughter? my wife is a Filipino citizen at this time. she has Philippine passport with her married last name as well as green card with her married last name. our daughter has passport and birth certificate. they will be traveling to provinces for a month. i was asked about having something from me stating i agree to the outside travel. anyone know where i get this form? and any other documents to bring?

    thank you all

    Nathan

PS please Mods put this in the correct forum sub for me.

  11. anyone know if my wife gets AHCCCS aka emergency health insurance through Arizona if it would impact her greencard or anything? we did a spousal visa and she is a CR1 as we been married over 2 years when she arrived july 7th of 2016..we just learned shes pregnant and my current job is a little slow..

i want her to be able to get medical for her and the baby but want tonmake sure this option wont affect us for the mean time until i can find more affordable coverage?

  12. They ask if you already have SSN or need a new one at the end of IV application (DS-260).

For example, they have asked it on page 69 of this example form.

    https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/DS-260%20Exemplar.pdf

In my case, I already had a SSN because I lived in the states for a while as a student.

awesome thank you..my wife turned around and said she read it on something.we just looked it up to confirm it and in fact did say yes to have it sent...thank you very much..helps a lot :D

  13. i dont know if my wife has to apply for a social security number or if it was already taken care of somewhere..i read something about it being checked on the immigrant application.but i dont know where on it i would have checked it.i assume they mean the I130..any way i can confirm?or where on the form would i have checked this?

  14. She would/should have been at the embassy, not here. Either way you have what you need now...

She should get a 10-year GC. If she receives a 2-year GC (unlikely), make sure to contact USCIS to correct it.

thank you both..i knew i can count on VJ for the info..i will definitely check to make sure its a 10 year card..that i didnt even know.what research i did do just turned me to dead links or old info.again thank you all :D

  15. I found the website (again) and mine says "Administrative Review." I submitted the I-130 just right before Chinese New Year. We also had some hiccups because of expired notarized certificates. They wanted notarized paperwork no more then 3 months old. We had to travel back to her home town in ChongQing to get them and that took awhile. Got an email on May 13th to proceed to the next step (complete the DS260 online, copy of passport, 2 photos) and submit all those via a drop off location. Then received an email on May 26 for final processing notice, made interview appointment, med exam, registered at CGI Stanley, etc.

All in all, I think it was pretty quick. Would of been quicker if I had known about the 3 month thing. I'm just curious now how long did it take your case to go from "Administrative Processing" to "ISSUED." I guess I'm not going to get any other updates if everything goes well. But as long as it's reasonably quick, I'm OK with that.

here is what it will say and you will know its just a matter of waiting for the visa/passport to be picked up.took just a few days after this change for my wife to get hers..

took about a week for a change..i say that but really maybe 2 and a half weeks as there was a week i had to mail joint sponsor paper work via Fedex..but it was like a week after i mailed ir and the US embassy got the package that there was a change.this is in the Philippines though but i assume China wouldnt be as busy as the Philippines (not sure i just know the Philippines after researching for a long time) but it would really depend on the case and how backed up they are if any..im sure someone has said this already but check timelines for your visa and China to get an idea.

in short after all paper work was received.it took a week.you wont know anything until it says issued or you get a notice in the mail asking for more info(oh i hope it doesnt happen)you can try calling them as well.i dont like talking on the phone so i just waited.

  17. now that my wife is here with me...do we pay for the green card?if so what is the link please?or is it already done and should be expecting it in the mail..she said no one told her anything about the green card and i cant track it either nor have i got any letter or anything about it.figured i post here and get the info from those that have done this...i have info on my time line.thank you in advance for the replies.ill keep researching but want to post this now. :)

quick note..we have been married since November 14, 2013..she just entered the states July 7 2016 so i dont know if the amount of time we have been married changes anything or not.

  18. Thanks for the reply nathanp. I didn't know about the CEAC site. I do recall going there at the very beginning but I have not used it since. In any case, I will check this site regularly. They said it can take up to 3 business days for the passport and I-864 documents to reach the Embassy. Then I guess it's just a waiting game...

I basically want to know when the package reaches the embassy, and when the visa is issued and sent out. But from what you said, it looks like all I will get is an ISSUED once they finish processing the paperwork.

not a problem..from what i can remember.there is something on the CEAC website that says at use embassy..mine was under administrative review because of financial documents.i make enough to support her now but last year i did not make enough..so just added joint sponsor just to show there is someone else willing to help us if needed..this happened when she was at her interview and that was june 6th of this year. it changed to "Administrative Processing" and the finally it said "ISSUED" i have a picture i took to show my wife.when her and i are back from shopping ill try to find it and upload to show you what it looks like..but this was for the Philippines..but the CEAC website is for any US citizen filing so should show the same one the less..

if you need the link to the website to check the status let me know.and one thing i do know..dont worry..it takes time..looking back its really not that bad..just a few hickups (mostly on my part)

  19. my wife got her visa and the website still said its at US embassy..so it seems it doesnt change or update.we couldnt even track it but got a text stating it will be delivered..it could be different but when my wife got hers approved (i also needed a joint sponsor) it said ISSUED on the CEAC website.and about a week later she got her passport with the visa in it..my wife has now been here in the states for 3 days..you can keep checking..but it may not update or could change at any second as it did with me.just keep checking or even call and check on it.thats the best way to find out

  20. Hi have you submitted your docs yet. If yes how long before you got back a reply from the embassy. We had the same problem husband makes enough now but not in previous year.

i mailed the paper work to my wife and she got it yesterday but has not mailed it to the US embassy yet...she is suppose to go mail it today..but im not sure how long after that.i can keep you posted when something new changes :) sorry for the late reply..didnt notice i got a reply here

  21. im trying to get my dad and step mom to fill out the forms for their taxes..i864 and i864a...we run into getting my step moms previous tax info when they both filled together so my step mom did not get a 1040ez..my dad alone makes enough money to sponsor my wife but since they did taxes together then im assuming we have to get my step mom to do it..i wanted my dad to do it alone but we arent sure so added her anyways..shes stubborn and having a hard time getting things done and we dont know what her taxes where the previous years..

am i able to just have my dad do it even though they both filled taxes together but he alone meets the requirements or does she have to do it also because they did joint taxes?also how are we suppose to fill in something we dont know and dont have?my wife did her interview.they just want any sponsor because i didnt make enough last year even though i make more than enough now.
