Correct. I should have not assumed you didn’t have a ssn   You file MFJ exactly the same way others do .. AOS pending doesnt come into it. You are a resident for tax purposes according to the IRS

Each case is different and we shouldn’t link every health insurance thread any more than we’d link every thread related to every CR1 or K1 applicant.

@OP the issue isn’t buying insurance on the exchanges it is collecting subsidized premiums to do it.  If your petitioner is enjoying subsidized premiums it appears that this is already a strike against based on the question “you or any member of your household...”

So you are allowed to purchase your own insurance and if you purchase a plan and pay the premium without subsidy that is exactly what the new rules appear to be directing you to do.
