    Per DOS:

Important Notice for K visa applicants affected by COVID-19

    Last Updated: August 31, 2020

Effective August 28, as it becomes safe to resume more consular operations at each U.S. mission, posts are authorized to give K visa cases high priority.  Applicants should check the website of their nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate for updates on what services that post is currently able to offer. The I-129F Petition for Alien Fiancé(e) is typically valid for four months; however, consular officers may revalidate the I-129F petition in four month increments.  For most cases impacted by the suspension of routine visa services or COVID-19 travel restrictions it will not be necessary to file a new I-129F petition.

So hang in there. US Embassy JA is due to have a live broadcast via Nationwide 90 FM on facebook today. Watch for updates, ask questions in the comments or call

8766309371, 8766309372, 8766309373, 8766309374 or 8766188255 to ask the COs directly during the live broadcast.

Thank you. I saw the update and have been waiting for them to say something. I know that some countries already released statements about resuming k1 visas. 🙏🙏

Do you what time they’ll be airing live?

  2. I had my k1 visa approved at the beginning of the year, I didn’t get to schedule my interview because there wasn’t any available appointment date, then covid19 happened. I’ve been religiously checking for new appointments opening, today I realized that appointments are now available, with the earliest being November 9, 2021. This is so depressing. Anyone else going through the same ordeal? 😔

it maybe different type of visa. For us, & most of the people, we don't schedule our own. they pick date for us. But we don't know, what happens in situation like this

do you have  screenshot of that email. did they give you a new date?

    I’m doing a fiancé visa

is your interview also cancelled? are you referring to ustraveldoc website? did they tell you to schedule your own?

No, the U.S DOS website for visa appointments. I have yet to schedule mine. I was at the appointment stage and was told that no appointments are available. On the website, it usually shows next appointment date as well as the other dates available.. and u choose what’s most convenient for u. U can also reschedule on the website. I’ve used the site before,

Adeal, just curious, how do you know for a fact that it is up to them to reschedule us instead of us having to rebook our interviews?

They will probably give u dates to choose from and u choose the date that u want. On my profile, there’s the option to select the next available appointment, as well as the available appointment that u prefer, there’s also an option to cancel/reschedule.

As you all know a dozen countries are closing embassies. Which means, interview scheduled are canceled with no future dates

For, those who had their country embassy close, did you receive email of cancellation of interviews?

    if so, what’s the details.

Embassy in Jamaica is closed. I was unable to make my appointment because no dates are available

    2. I have read about the DS-160, but I need a DS application number, which I do not have.

Use your NVC case number for the application number.

    3. How am I to get one?

By calling NVC. Details are in the PDF file found on the first page first post of any NOA2 to Embassy thread. Here is the link to the pdf file.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nfin98c33IEpB0T0FlURERriblYmlm5O/view

    4. Is this done through the CEAC website - and on that website

No, through NVC. Instructions were given above.

    5. is the K-1 classed as an Immigrant or Non-Immigrant Visa (there always seems to be some confusion on this point in some stages)?

Both. As a K1, when checking your case online at CEAC.state.gov you have to select "immigrant visa" as it is treated like as such even though it is a "non-immigrant visa".

Technically the K-1 is a non-immigrant visa but it is treated like an immigrant visa because of the AOS. It is kind of a ba$tard. Non-immigrant treated like an immigrant. Other non-immigrant visas do not usually end up with green cards!  The K-1 on its own is a single entry, short time limit visa that expires 90 days after POE. You are a non-immigrant (90 days limit) with immigrant intentions (GC). That is why it is a non-immigrant visa treated like an immigrant visa.

This stage is for those whose case was assigned a case number from NVC and wish to follow the status till it is set to "ready" condition for the interview. You have three stages 1) transit - shipment is in the air or soon will be, 2) received - physical case file is at the Embassy and 3) ready - your case is ready to schedule and complete your interview.  These will be your current state or status to your case file once you have received the case number.

My case is now saying ‘ready’ what’s the next step?

Can't speculate as you don't have a timeline or even a country  in your profile.  Usually a few days if sent directly.

I will be going to the embassy in Jamaica for the interview. My case was approved by USCIS on January 10 then sent to NVC

3-6 days the case to be Ready

Ready to upload documents? I have not paid any fees or upload any documents of the sort

  9. I got an email from NVC stating that they are going to transfer my case to the embassy where the interview will take place, the email also has a case number. I used the case number to log in to CEAC website, when I logged in, the status says ‘in transit’ How long will it take to reach the embassy and how long before they contact me?

    Thanks!
