  1. Again, if you know of a law mandating self-isolation, please share it with me. I am not here for approval from anyone, as I stated multiple times that I am looking for information, not opinions or discussions. I understand the risks of this virus very well, I'm a physician myself, so no need to be rude or personal. If you want to discuss these things on a scientific level, I'd be happy to. I don't have to agree with every rule or guideline out there as I am in the position to form my own opinion on the matter. That is what I was trained to do after all. Doesn't mean that I am not taking precautions, i.e. wearing a cloth mask in public etc., myself. Nonetheless, I want to ensure that my family and I are abiding by the existing laws.

You keep saying "require", though CDC words it as "should". I came to realize that the CDC did in fact "only" recommend it.

Thank you for all those links. I'm going to look through them. Flying to the DFW area with a direct flight from Frankfurt to DFW. I know that Governor Abbott recently lifted all executive orders related to domestic air travel restrictions, but they didn't cover international travel, which is governed at the federal level anyway. I called CDC yesterday and they couldn't give me an answer either. She started reading out what is already on the CDC webpage, but wasn't able to tell me whether self-isolation is mandated by law.

  3. CDC "recommends" that travelers self-quarantine for 2 weeks if they have been to the Schengen area. Is this actually a law, i.e. is it a MUST-DO? Or can you still go about your activities right away upon arrival?

I'm not interested in a discussion whether it makes sense or not. My only concern is if I would break the law if I did not self-quarantine upon arrival.

I have heard that it's difficult to enter US with B1/B2 visa if you have an open petition with intent of immigration. Even if you get the visa, I heard that you may have problems at POE

Wasn't true in my case. I traveled on B-1 while my I-140 was pending, and then again after approval and submission of DS-260. Hell, I even traveled together with my family who were part of the petition and no one said one thing. No problems whatsoever.

  5. Hi,

I have an immigrant visa (so not affected by immigration ban) but live in a Schengen country (affected by the proclamation from 03/14). My son (4 y.o.) is a U.S. citizen. Sec. 2(iii) of that proclamation states:

    (a)  Section 1 of this proclamation shall not apply to:

    (iii)   any alien who is the parent or legal guardian of a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, provided that the U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident is unmarried and under the age of 21;

    My questions are:

    1) Am I allowed to board a plane and travel to the U.S. now?

    2) Would I have to travel together with my son or can I travel ahead, and my wife (also immigrant visa) and son join me a few weeks later?

I know that I would have to self-quarantine upon arrival and that booking a flight etc. is a separate issue, both of which do not concern me at this time. I am just interested in whether in principle I could travel now.

Thank you for your input on my post nich-nick I really appreciate it.

Knightsbridge emailed me this morning and confirmed it was delivered at the embassy yesterday afternoon. It's just too bad that I can't contact the embassy to get an update.

I hope it doesn't take long as it's not like they needed additional evidence just needed my medical to issue the visa.

Plus I'm supposed to be going to Spain at the end of the month for work and now I'm concerend about not having my passport back in time ?

Can you give us an update how long it took for you get your visa issued?

Processing times for 221g vary greatly between different international posts. Since all mail entry must follow strict security protocols, and then be assigned to the correct case worker and then actually be worked on, it can take between a few days, few weeks, few months.

My medical exam hadn’t arrived at the consulate yet during my interview, so I was in AP for 8 days until they received and issued my visa. This was in Frankfurt. Like said, everywhere is different. You’ll just have to be patient and hope for a quick resolution.

Did you do anything after your interview? Or just waited it out? I had my medical after my interview and CEAC still shows administrative processing (5 days since medical now). Wondering if there is anything I can do at this point?

  8. Hi,

got EB-2 approved and went through NVC with no issues. I received an appointment in Frankfurt too early (since we will we moving in >6 months) and I asked to have it rescheduled by email (which seems to be the way to go for the Frankfurt consulate). They acknowledged the receipt of my email and said that they forwarded it to the corresponding office but I have not received a new interview date yet. I emailed them 11 days ago and again 3 days ago with the same response. Does anyone know how long it takes to received a new interview date? I asked them for a date in late February, if possible.

    Thanks!

  9. Hi,

my EB-2 NIW petition was approved a few months ago and we went through the NVC process with no issues. We are going for consular processing at a Western European US consulate. Our green card interview at our local consulate is set in a few weeks and while I know that for the petition itself I did not need a job offer, I wonder if I need to present one during the interview at the consulate? Anyone who successfully went through the EB-2 greenb card interview with no job at hand?

    Thanks in advance!

  10. Thank you for your reply. My family is going to come with me for a few weeks and then return while I finish my stay. They will join me on ESTA (which is already approved). That would not be a problem, either right? We will take plenty of documents to show our binding ties to our home country but I am afraid it may look like we are all traveling to stay in the U.S.
