  1. i forgot to add, symptoms of primary koch's in children is usually failure to gain weight, loss of appetite, night sweats, cervical lymphadenopathies (kulani sa leeg) and only a few percent will have cough and fever. History of exposure to a TB patient is key to diagnosis. Kids cannot contract TB with their playmates. Only if they were exposed to an adult TB patient will kids have the infection :)

  2. I too was exposed to TB patients since i worked for the government's DOTS program last year for 6 months and then went back to the hospital for pediatrics training. Not all TB patient will have symptoms thats why i was worried too so for my own peace of mind, i went and had my xray done yesterday and was so relieved it was normal. Xrays of children less than 7 years of age will almost always turn out to be normal even if they have Primary Koch's infection because the scarring will still not be evident at this time. Only the second infection (which usually occurs during adolescence or adulthood) will most often cause scarring in the xray film. So for younger children, a PPD test is more reliable than an xray or sputum (since most kids can't expectorate). However, I have no idea what the SLEC's protocol is for children with Primary Koch's. So for those waiting for their interview dates with kids, better have them tested for it so u can start treatment as early as possible (treatment is usually 6-9months depending on the kids' response to meds).

  3. I think we get Packet 4. Packet 3 is for the CR1/IR1 visa applicants. Your Packet 4 should contain the appointment letter, instructions, DS156 and DS157 forms and a sheet of paper describing the right photo for the visa.

I got mine last week. I used the DS 157 form that came with it and had it validated at the BPI bank for the Visa application fee.

  6. best would be after you get the visa. Because even if you go before u have the visa, they will ask you to return once you have the visa so they can put the sticker in there. I attended the CFO seminar when I had my passport changed into my married name. They gave me a lifetime certificate and told me to come back once i have a visa so they can put the sticker :)

  7. You can pay it at any Metrobank branches in the country. Just fill up the deposit slip with Delbros Logistics, Inc as the account name and their account number (found in the link smoke provided) and the amount php 650. Then send a text message to delbros and wait for their confirmation. It took me less than 10 minutes to pay for it. I read in one thread that it might actually help visa applicants get their visa earlier if they pay for this before the interview date.

  8. Thanks, Aki!

I was getting frustrated so I told Dave about it...he tried sending messages and then rearranged the format....dunno how he did it, but my knight in shining armor did get a reply from Delbros acknowledging our payment!

    Thanks!

  9. Hello...

i just paid the Php650 required for the document verification at Pedro Gil-Paco branch of Metrobank and read the instructions carefully on how to send the text message. I sent more than 20 texts already and all of them replied with Invalid/incomplete format *sighs* it's very frustrating because I don't see where i typed wrong....here's the two formats i texted them:

    USE/MNL2007852xxx/Surname, First Name MiddleName/Pedro Gil-Paco/29Jan2008/1:06PM/PhP650

    USE/MNL2007852xxx/Surname, First Name MiddleName/Pedro Gil-Paco/JAN 29, 2008/1306PM/PhP650

pls help me if i wrote something wrong :( thank you.

  11. Hi! got married last year, and I was a very hands-on bride, so I went to several designers and couturiers, and yes, even Divisoria, looking for that perfect gown for me. Don't be surprised because most of the wedding gowns made by not-so-known to wellknown designers cost around 25,000Php to as high as 100,000. In divisoria, the cheapest i asked was around 2,000 but it's really awfully made. The fabric is stiff and it looked cheap. but there are stalls there that sell gowns from 5,000 to 12,000 and the gowns looked nice. My wedding gown was made by Jorge Palmos and I got the entire package (including the gowns of the entourage and the barongs) for 100K. But you are right. Try not to mention that your fiance is a foreigner. I learned that lesson to when scouting for suppliers for our wedding. I ask for their price first before i even tell them that Dave is an American. Sometimes, i dont even tell them. And trust your instinct. if you think theyre just making you bola, u can just smile and nod politely and leave! LOL

  12. Hi! I've encountered similar problems when dealing with banks and government agencies. I asked a lawyer friend why the banks do not allow me to hyphenate my surname and he said it is not accepted legally. Unless you have some sort of affidavit that says you want to use your hyphenated surname from now on and your kids will have to use that too. If you notice, all legal papers you sign will omit the hyphen and will automatically use your husband's surname and your maiden surname will be your middle name.

so to avoid legal loopholes, i only use my hyphenated surname when signing my prescription pad :P

  13. Your fiance can apply online for the CENOMAR at this website https://www.ecensus.com.ph/Secure/frmIndex.asp

for the USC fiance, when he comes to visit, he will have to go to the US embassy in Manila and pay a fee to get an affidavit in lieu of the certificate to contract marriage. You will get that after a few minutes. Just bring your passport and birth certificate with you.
