So I read on NVC site that police certificates are valid for 2 yrs in your residing country so if Canadian PCC would be valid for 2 yrs.  Could someone shed some light on this plz

It is valid for one year only as per https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/MTL-Montreal.html

f you are older than 16 years of age:  The original police certificate from your country of current residence, any countries where you lived for more than 12 months, and any country where you have been arrested.  If you previously submitted a police certifciate to NVC, it is more than one (1) year old, and you still live in that country, you must obtain and bring a more recent police certificate to your visa interview as the one you previously submitted will have expired.  You can find information on when police certificates are required and how to get them on our website.”

Not sure what letter you are referring to but Montreal consulate has info on doctors in ON that are qualified to perform medical checks for immigration process. Check this out as an example to see all you need to prep for medical exam: https://immigrationphysician.ca

  4. Hello,

We are in Ontario, Canada and expecting to get family immigration in next two months. After the interview and once we receive passports back with visa stamps- can we drive across the border to activate the immigration visa and return to ON the same day to pick up our stuff from the storage (via Uhaul) and re-enter the US same or next day?

I am looking for feedback from anyone on this Forum who has done something similar. Is this allowed or did you have any problems at the border? Thanks.

@Vijayg Good idea to get the new PCC. Do you know, how can we get the Indian PCC from Canada? Also, how much time does it take and do they send the police verfication person at our indian house?

Here is all the information you may need to get the Indian PCC from Canada. We applied ours in early 2020(before COVID) and got it in about a week and half. They don’t send anyone for verification to Indian residence unless there is any red flag in their records. My experience was that preparing the application took some time and efforts but once we submitted the application, it was fast and smooth process. We didn’t go to India since our 2020 PCC so have no experience of renewal or recent processing time.

I think the key word here is “if applicable”. I also wonder the same thing but from what I’ve heard, I don’t think it’s necessary. We just submitted a black & white scanned copy of the Naturalization Certificate and a colored scanned copy Passport Card photo, and NVC accepted it.

Thank you..but are you talking about upload of docs or interview? Your interview is not done yet so confirming. I also did not upload my mother’s (petitioner) birth cert at DQ stage, but Consulate’s interview document checklist has it so inquiring. I agree with your logic that it is not applicable in our category.Let me know if you get any surprises at the interview, all the best.

  7. Can anyone who recently cleared interview at Montreal consulate for the family immigration visa interview (F3) help me here? Did you need to take a copy or original birth certificate of the petitioner? Thanks.

Instructions on this page is bit confusing https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/MTL-Montreal.html

    • Your original birth certificate and that of your petitioner if applicable, English translation, and a photocopy.”
