Hello everbody. I need some advice and commets please on several questions. My soon to be wife has her app. date and time for the medical exam. If I am reading some of the post here she can just walk in for the medical as long as she has a copy of her app. date and the rest of her paper work with her.????. Her app. for the medical is Feb 25. Her interview at Emabssey is March 3 should or do I need to be there with her at the interview?? I would like to be there with her. But with my luck the day she has her interview they will give her another interview date. Any comments or ideals would be a great help. Thanks
once you received the appointment letter, it is IDEAL to have the medical examination in advance of the specified schedule. So in case some problem arises, at least there will be an ample time to settle it. BUT TAKE NOTE, not to exceed A MONTH in advance from the interview date..
Regarding the interview date..ITS NOT REALLY A REQUIREMENT THAT PETITIONER WILL JOIN THE APPLICANT, although having the petitioner on that date will give confidence to the applicant & at the same time , i would say "AN ADVANTAGE" ..if in case some are deciding to have petitioner join in interview date, its HIGH chance to get approve in VISA PICK-UP REQUEST.. just in case the applicant will be traveling together with petitioner in going back to US.
hope this help..

if the kids apply for a K-2 Visa at the same time as your K-1, then they would have to enter the USA within six months. a K-2 can not be extended. your AOS could take longer than six months from the time you enter the USA, in which case you will need AP to be able to go back for your kids.
right..so if i were you guys..try to review things again, you might want to consider traveling to US at same time..Take note that Adjusment of status might take more than 6 months..PLUS, if kids will be following, they will have a higher charge in AOS application..FAR EXPENSIVE instead of you guys submit AOS application at the same time..
just a thought guys..

What is the letter for?
What can you possibly reason for a Visa Pickup?
I mean it is written on the guidelines on not to make travel plans..
I would just ask if I can pick up her Visa. If CO ask me why? I just tell him for no reason, or we go out alot..
Usually the reason of requesting for visa pick-up is having a prior arrangement of flight. Well, its already given that this is not advisable but most of the applicants where petitioners join them for interview arranged flight schedule. Others reason I heard is that they already settled the US wedding plans.
Letter usually submit to CO after he/she confirms that the applicant passed the interview, which is what I did..
You can check the details of my K1 Visa interview with Visa Pick-up request here;
http://annie-thejourney.com/?p=77
Please take note that not everybody has being approved for visa pick-up..though check what i did & maybe it can give you an idea on how to be approve in visa pick-up, especially if you REALLY have a target date of arrival in US.
So far i haven't seen any approved K1 visa applicant who made a request of visa pick-up, so for others who want to their chance..there's no harm in trying.
By the way, fOr new K1 visa applicants..im sharing my old notes..check the SPECIALS page in my blog, you might want to create your own OFFLINE WISHFUL TIMELINE. This file truly helped me a lot..
cheers!

For any one reading this.... If your Filipina is tiny, and moving to a cold part of the USA, have her stock up on jeans and other things that might be helpful before coming to the USA. We had to shop in the "Girls" department at JCPenny's and Kohl's today to find sweat pants and lounge pants for Ann to wear around the apartment. Yikes, a girls 14 fits her. Small in the USA does not equal Small Filipina.
Luckily we'd bought a couple more pairs of jeans before we left.
don't worry..burgers, pizza & pasta will resolve this issue...soon..
i arrived here just last oct..NOW IM ENROLL IN A GYM & VISITING TWICE A WEEK!

driving in phil is pretty much different "chaotic" in a way coz they wont follow any lines (based on my experience last nov in manila) gosh they make a 3 line street to a 6 line street. lol... i never had a license in phil so i started from scratch here and had a driver instructor $40/hr (8 hrs worth of on-the-road-lesson plus another 6 hrs on-the-road after i got my license coz my husband insisted to have another lesson regardless lol)... a friend of mine from michigan has a phil license and what she did was she just went to the dmv and present her license and they gave her a US license right away lol... not sure if its applicable to some states...
i showed my two license to DMV (Bahrain & Phils), still they told me that i need to underdo normal procedures..i wish im in Michigan
..too late..

check their site..
http://www.timesofmoney.com/remittance/jsp/r2h_about.jsp
its an indian group..seems no affiliation with any phils bank...
i just hope its not the amount is not that much...
anyway ,i check their homepage & they have referral bonus..what if tell them that you will start with a bad campaign for them ...
bad me...

for those who are still in thee phils & just waiting for the development of their visa ..& also for others who just recently arrived here in US..
you might want to check this post regarding application of USA Drivers License..
SHAPE OF ROAD SIGNS?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
If you haven't experience driving before & you're not doing that much in the Phils, why not ask any of your friends (with car) to teach you how to drive automatic car.. or try to check some driving school out there ...in that way it will keep you a little busy or occupied with something. That might be a lesser cost instead of taking driving class here.. I saw some ad here & the fee is quite high..
i'm telling you its not that easy to have a license here.. ive been driving for 7 years but ahhh it took me 2 times to pass the exam
& driving is so important here...unless you'll be staying in Manhattan which is you can walk in the street with Sarah Jessica Parker
..hhhmmm i like that..
anyway, if the above link will not work..try this one..

Oh by the way...we're in Arizona right now..i dont know specifically how many questions in exam & passing rate in other state..although i posted some sample questions there..at least you will have an idea
cheers!

There should absolutely be a firm understanding of the expectations from both the boyfriend and girlfriend before the "Will you marry me?" even takes place. I mean really soul search and be honest about what your (your meaning anyone) willing to accept and do when it comes to the essentials like finances, religion, children, and family. However, this type of situation is not uncommon, but should be discussed beforehand in order to avoid any confusion and strain on the relationship and families.

firm understanding in different aspects....

thank you so much for such quick response...

I got my drivers license before the expiration of my I-94 form. The DMV - Arizona gave me a license with the same expiration date as my I-94 form which is somewhere on the third week of january. They informed me that in order to renew such license, I need to show them certain document that I am legally to stay further than such expiration date.
The only thing that came to my mind was my marriage certificate & any notice i will be receiving for my application of AOS.
Anybody here who experienced the same situation?
Any input will be highly appreciated..
HAPPY 2008!
cheers

Hello every one

journey with K1 Visa application might be complicated to some Filipinas especially for those whose not "somehow" into PAPERWORKS.
This site - visa journey, was a great help to me. When i found this site i was overwhelmed with the information i got..
Honestly..application for AOS is more complicated, requires more readings & paperworks.
I met a lot of people here. Believe it or not, until this date we're in constant communication with further journey of life from Phils to USA.
For the entire K1 visa application, the only docs your fiancee need to secure from Phils' govmnt are NSO Birth Certificate, CENOMAR & NBI Clearance.
Now, if her case was "somehow" complicated like previously married or a former OFW then she'll be needing other legal papers related to those situations.
Just have some patience in surfing previous threads here..you'll find similar cases like yours or similar situations. Then, create your timeline here & VJ will inform you with other members who have the same timeline. By then, you guys can start communicating with those other couples here. Be aware of updates.
You might want to refer this site to your fiancee;

It's my personal experience in completing this journey from Phils to USA. Feel free to post questions, concerns or suggestions.
Above all these, you'll be fine since you're part of VJ..This is the most active forum i've seen with regards to this matter. & a lot of great people are here!
goodluck!

we're currently preparing our forms for AOS.
i observed that the form I-131 (application for travel document) has an expiration date of 11-30-07.
is it OK to use this form?
I tried to search previous threads regarding this but the search engine below this forum wasn't giving me result.
looking forward for prompt reply.
thanks

hi DZ..
im sorry to hear the bad news..
honestly for the past month, i'm not here in VJ in daily basis like before. So when I saw this post, i'm really shocked that you're still in the process with USE. My case was sent 4 days ahead with yours, so i pressumed that you're done with that (the same with some of our batchmates..)
anyway..from what ive seen on your post, you're only big problem is TIME DELAY..since you clearly mentioned there that those background checks they need to undergo are negative on your side. Its just so happen your timing is during holidays & your case needs to transfer to another CO..In short, another thorough review..
So i feel that you'll be fine..its really just time delay.
I dont know if this will work, but im thinking maybe it will help if you're fiance will coordinate with USE. Let the USCitizen Petitioner call the USE & inform them you already made travel & wedding plans since you were informed that your case is good (before it was transfer to another CO). In such case, USE "might" consider a quicker review in reference to your jan.8 target travel date.
But if you're willing to wait, then it's fine. Dont worry too much & ruin your holidays ..you're almost there DZ..
goodluck..

My wife and I went to the Social Security office yesterday after waiting for two weeks after her arrival. We were told that since we were married that her K1 visa was no longer valid. They instructed us to get a document from USCIS that reflected her new immigration status. I tried to explain that the K1 visa was her immigration document until it expired but they would not listen. We were denied the Social Security Card. I spoke with a supervisor and she supported the clerk. I called the Social Security Administration hotline and was told by one individual that my wife was entitled to a SSN card based on the K1 (I-94 form) even though we were married. When I called back later got a different response. They will give a fiance a SSN card but not a spouse. I have read of others on VJ who had no problem getting their spouse a SSN card with the K1 visa. They could not show me any regulation to substantiate what they were telling me. The supervisor would only give me her first name. I dont know who to complain to other than my congressperson. I dont have any faith in members of congress. I suppose we will wait until she gets her EAD and then try again.
i have a friend from california who had the same problem like yours.. she was denied to secure SSN until AOS is approved.. weird..
if that's how the Social Security Office works in your place.,i feel that you really need to wait for the greencard & then the SSN..
in my case, the people in the Social Security Office are very nice. We even got there nearly 4pm (closing time) but still one lady settled our application.
the ID is still in my maiden name, so we will just make adjustment as soon as our AOS approved..
if you want, just go ahead with the driver's license application (while doing waiting for the development of AOS). The paper I got from DMV, clearly states that unexpried I-94 is valid for driver's license application. So there's nothing to haggle with staff if your entitle for application or not..
At least in such way, your wife is still going to have a new (US) ID...
hhhmmm..while doing this reply, its just remind me to include that lady in the Social Security Office for a christmas gift...

Hello, I was wondering how we would go by requesting to pick up our visa at the embassy instead of having it delivered by Delbros. If anyone has done this, please let me know in what form or is it a letter I type up to present to the the consular officer at the time of the interview. Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I told the CO that during the delivery of packet 4..the delivery man had a hrad time finding our home.
Since we already purchased our ticket (before our interview sched), the CO was very nice to grant my request. '

Congratulations...& Happy Anniversary!!!!

let's see, from the top of my head, for the I-485
copy of marriage certificate
copy of applicant's birth cetificate
copy of I-94 front and back
copy of bio page of applicant's passport
copy of visa
I-693 vaccination supplement
I-864 and supporting documents
two passport style photos
G-325a for the applicant
follow the guide on VJ and you should do fine
no need to include evidence such as photo, copies of joint accounts, etc... save that for the interview should you have one.
thanks...
that lechon really looks good...i'm going to miss that this holiday...
