  1. Happy to share that our I-130 petition has been approved today!

The first NOA was received on 25 October 2018, it took 393 days

Next step is NVC...will continue to update any progress.

  2. We took new passport-style photos and submitted to USCIS as requested.

USCIS received our response to their Request for Evidence for our Form I-130, and they have begun working on our case again. They will send us a decision or notify us if they need something from us.

    The waiting game continues..

  3. We have received today a form called Request for Evidence (RFE) from USCIS.

It seems to be a new additional requirement.

All they are asking for is additional evidence to process the petition I-130. In our case, they are asking for one US passport-style photo. The photo must conform to the US passport photo specifications. My spouse's US passport was done in Feb 2019 but USCIS now requests photo taken within 30 days which will be challenging due to the current wait to process petitions. Thought we'd share this info as many of you will likely get this exact same request.

Dont think I follow but I think all they need is for your spouse to take a new passport photo 2X2 or (51x51 mm, 5x5 cm) of your spouse send them .They do not his US passport or the photo on his US passport. As far as you send the picture in on time dont worry about the 30days

They need a 2x2 US passport-style photo (not their actual passport photo). This can be obtained at various locations like Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, etc. Or you can do it yourself and print to a 4x6 and cut it out (if you want to save a few dollars and have no difficulty dealing with this stuff). This was required in the initial petition per the instructions and guide on this website.

While they almost certainly can't tell when it was taken, the instructions say 30 days so I always say follow that.

  4. We decided to move from Montreal to Vancouver and we were wondering what's best to update the address (through the immigration lawyer in charge of our case or USCIS website directly? or both?).

From your experiences, can the change of address can potentially delay the whole process? Thanks in advance.

      Have you already relocated?

Our US address changed and we used the website to update our I-130 & I-129F petitions while they were still in limbo. We quickly received acknowledgement of the change and have experienced no delays in process since (besides the usual).

Thanks for the reply. We've moved to Vancouver (Canada). If you don't live in the States, you can't update the address online unfortunately. Therefore, we had to fill out the AR-11 form and send it to USCIS. This form is not designed for non-US addresses though, so it was a bit challenging.
