Funny enough, I just got the same notification but still can't see my date yet as well. I figure we'll probably get the dates tomorrow. Let me know when's your date and I guess it'll end up being held at the federal plaza since I had a friend take his oath there this last past Wednesday. Hopefully things die down a bit with the tension this weekend.

I hope so, congratulations to you

At this point I just hope that they open up in June and I can get the final bit of N400 done before everything potentially frays. Family-based categories, H1B, OPT,... sinking one by one and with bankruptcy hanging over the edge. It's time to look out for oneself.

Most likely either they will raise the applications fees or reduce the staff but not closing the door

A bunch of people in other states are reporting that they've been scheduled for May 20th as well and so it seems like they're starting to send out these notices as of this week. Looks like the Minnesota court is starting to get going as well and so it'll be interesting to see if this oath goes ahead and how it'll be conducted.

Please keep me updated if you received any update on your case, or if they scheduled your ceremony.

Looks like there's an oath scheduled for May 20th in Minneapolis at the District court plaza, which is an interesting choice of venue given that it's outside so I'm guessing that's what they're trying to go with going forward. I'll be curious to see if anyone on here is scheduled for that date.

I also checked the court schedule and I found that date but no specific time.

Small ceremonies will be scheduled for OATH!

To help slow the spread of COVID-19, we’ve temporarily suspended in-person services at our offices until on or after June 4. We’ll work towards reopening our offices with your safety & the safety of our workforce in mind. We will automatically reschedule naturalization ceremonies and will send you notice by mail.

In certain limited situations, we may be able to perform small ceremonies for a limited number of applicants, when possible & all appropriate precautions can be taken. To read more about our operations during this time, visit: www.uscis.gov/coronavirus

For certain limited situations only, so not every will be scheduled

Again, what’s the priority of this matter in the Governor’s list? Would you all agree this (Governor pushing USCIS and to conduct virtual or small size oath ceremonies) will need atleast 6-8 working/business days if pushed aggressively? And for what? Some 100,000 people’s votes..They are already GC holders, so their livelihood in US isnt in any danger. During these times of crisis, voting rights is a nice to have (at least this is how USCIS would argue for not escalating the urgency of oath ceremonies). So they will take it when ever they are ready. I would want my family member to be administered oath right now..but is that going to happen? I doubt it...I am preparing for the worst and hoping for the best...

Me too I am not expecting anything happening before 2021, good luck

Exactly! I think this would be more feasible since I don't really see a massive agency like USCIS quickly implementing a new internal process which is what virtual ceremonies will entail. I mean the courts in Wisconsin and other nearby states already grant USCIS this authority and so I don't see why Minnesota wouldn't. Ultimately, I think the reopening of USCIS will really be driven by governors and so we probably won't see a unified process across the board.

Most likely the governor will extend the stay order, that’s why the virtual ceremony is the only way,

I'm waiting for my oath to be be scheduled in Minnesota as well. Thing is, all oath ceremonies have to be administered by a federal judge in Minnesota and so I imagine the ensuing backlog of thousands people waiting on the Minnesota district court to conduct the oaths would be insane. Maybe USCIS can try asking the Minnesota District court to grant them permission to administer the oaths for those applicants who aren't changing their names and they can try and conduct small administrative ceremonies of about 20 people a day and chip away at the backlog that way.

The court have the right to waive their exclusive authority to uscis.

Virtual ceremony will never happen because USCIS will need to spend extra money for IT to implement it. Smaller ceremony is the way to go.

Then that will take forever because the normal ceremony has between 1000-5000 people in my state if they decide to implement a smaller ceremony with gathering restrictions of 10 people only, I guess it will take between 5 to 7 years, the virtual ceremony is the solution.

Yes mine supposed to be in April 6 but canceled

I heard from an attorney that impossible that uscis perform virtual oath, what do you think?

Great, I saw you applied in April - At this rate you'll be lucky if you get an in-person interview by next year May - Especially in Los Angeles.

For anyone interested, I wanted to share an interesting article regarding remote naturalization ceremonies being pushed to USCIS.

    https://www.niskanencenter.org/uscis-should-hold-remote-naturalization-ceremonies-during-the-covid-19-crisis/

Thank you JamesFL for sharing this article, but as the writer said uscis still considered the naturalization process non essential.

Has anyone who's interview was cancelled got a reschedule letter or a letter like some in Pittsburgh, VA are getting? I made a post about it.
Just curious about Houston right now of course.

    Dear Naturalization Applicant:

The USCIS Pittsburgh Field Office is preparing for the day when we resume naturalization oath ceremonies. That date has not been set. But USCIS staff members are contacting applicants and legal representatives to identify naturalization candidates who are able to attend oath ceremonies as quickly as possible. The oath ceremony dates will be set with relatively short notice: within a few days, in some cases. Applicants will be chosen according to their willingness to maintain contact with USCIS Pittsburgh via email.

Please note that these applicants are those who have already been deemed ready to attend an oath ceremony.

Please also note that USCIS staff and visitors will be required to adhere to all appropriate social distancing and hygiene protocols.

A date for oath ceremonies has not yet been set. But we are preparing to continue our service to the public. We respectfully ask that everyone understand that COVID-19 requires that we all remain flexible. Communication will be essential to the success of this ad hoc process. We will contact you when a date is set for resuming ceremonies.

Again, please note that during this process, USCIS staff and the public must take all precautions to maintain social distancing and proper, anti-viral hygiene.

If you can attend an oath ceremony at USCIS’ Pittsburgh Office on short notice, please respond to this email at your earliest convenience.

Hi Dwheels, did uscis send you this E-mail because I am waiting my oath to be scheduled

    thank you for your reply
