Yes that is the NOA1  = I-797 Notice of Action 1st one received.     Do keep this safe you will need it late after you are married, along with the NOA2   (2nd Notice of Action ;)   )   <  That Notice is the one you are really waiting for.... APPROVAL NOTICE!!  :)

thank you!!! why will i need it after marriage ?

  2. No matter how many times I read about this crazy process, I feel like I won’t fully understand it until each step happens for me. I sent in my I-129 form in July. About a week later I received a letter saying my petition was received and listed the amount I paid and my beneficiary’s information. Is this considered the NOA1 ? or is this just a receipt telling me it was received? What am I waiting for next?

    Thanks!!

They care about current income and assets. If you have a permanent position that provides sufficient income and/or have sufficient savings and can prove it, you're good; it doesn't matter if you just started it recently.

Though note that they look at the totality of circumstances; trying to qualify on the bare minimum income while living in San Francisco is unlikely to work at any consulate that looks at I-134s at all.

    Hi DaveAndAnastasia!

Thanks for the reply. I understand what they want and the consequences of not having it. I guess my main concern is I spent more than half the year not working and will be starting a new job in mid october. My past tax returns can show that I have met the requirement easily, however those aren’t current. If my new job has a wage that fits the requirements but I have not been there a full year yet to prove it, will that help me at all? I hope I am making sense. My problem is I am not worried about money, nor my fiancé becoming a public charge, I guess I am just worried about my history proving it.

  4. Hi everyone. Although everything has gone smoothly thus far, the anticipation and horror stories of this process is giving me constant anxiety. Being a college student, I have had the flexibility with my schedule and used it to my advantage to spend a lot of time with my fiancé in his country. Unfortunately this leaves me with little proof of a steady income. We have a decent savings account together, and I have never struggled or been worried about finding jobs when I get back and starting from square one (although I know the government doesn’t care about that, they just want the proof). I really don’t want to have a joint sponsor if I can help it. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

    thanks!

  5. hi everyone!

i have everything finished, signed, in order and ready to submit. i’m just stuck on how to organize and actually send it. I have read many people using binders but the uscis website specifically says not too. right now i have my i129 packet binder clipped together and i have everything else behind it in order. Should i just put it all in order in the folder to send? help!!

    Hi everyone,

My fiance has been to the USA for the past two summers and is here currently. He lives at the same address every summer.

-Am I able to write that in the extra sheet? Should I fill out an extra slot for each summer, even thought it is the same address? or can I just write all three summer dates on the extra lines?

-What does it mean to reside somewhere? If  I went abroad for 4 months, does that count as living somewhere?

-Should my photos be in a plastic baggie?

-I do not have any evidence of our calls, my call log ends recently, any suggestions?

-Does anyone have experience with just submitting photos and flight proof? I am worried it is not enough.

Sorry I am all over the place, I am freaking out trying to get this packet submitted. I would hate to be declined for a mistake on the form.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi everyone,

also wondering how you put your packet together? and did anyone attach a word document about how you met and all the times you have visited each other? for question 54 (circumstances of meeting) did you straight forward say we met here on this date or am i supposed to elaborate ?

My fiancé and I physically met ( within the 2 year requirement) about a year after started talking. should i write that somewhere ? im confused on how they will even know our story.

    thanks again!

    - Suggest just writing the same thing each summer, i.e. 3 times. Just give them what they want.

    - I lived abroad under a tourist visa. I didn't mention those accommodations. I believe they're more interested in long-term living situations. But that's just my view. Better to call the authorities and ask.

    - We paper-clipped our photos. No baggie.

    - I didn't submit call logs.

    - I submitted a pair of boarding passes for our vacation and 3 photos throughout 2 years. Then again, I think my case is pretty clear-cut, we dated nearly 4 years prior to application, visited each other many, many times. No RFE. At the K1 interview, I brought chat logs, call logs, letters, cards, photos of gifts received etc. The officer didn't even ask for them. Better to be prepared though! We didn't frontload our package, because it's just gonna waste time. Give them what they asked for: proof you guys met.

    all the best!

thank you so much for all the info!! i bet i sound crazy and all over the place. how did you put your whole packet together ? and did you fill out an extra sheet for how you met?
