what would my husbands immigration status be?
-
Hi everyone, I am filing the addidavit of support for my now husband who arrived on a K1 visa. I have been in my current . job for almost 6 months and meet the income requirements however my previous tax reports show that I do not, as I have not been in the job long and just graduated school. Will this affect his green card acceptance?

Do I need to submit the original birth certificate or can it be a copy ?

Hi everyone! I am looking for a basic run down of what I need to do after my fiance and I get married. He is currently here on K1 visa and we are getting marriedin a few weeks. Is it just more paperwork? is there an interview? can we be denied?
-
how long did it take after your interview until you got notification your passport was ready for pickup ?
-
hi everyone!! our interview is tomorrow for the k1 visa. i know everyone’s experience is different depending on the relationship the embassy etc. i was just wondering to hear about your experiences in the interview. how long did they take? how many / what questions were you asked? did you both speak (if you attended ). many advice ?? i am so confident but also so nervous because of the formality of it.

i’m confused on number 38 for the affidavit of support. Am I supposed to be giving my fiancé a weekly allowance??? Obviously he will be moving into my house and he has his own money he is bringing, so how do i fill that out?

My job that I am starting next week when I graduate will be above the poverty line. Do i need to physically have the money above the poverty line ? like in savings and assets ?

When is the I-134 requested and is a major influence in the acceptance of a K1 visa?

my fiances interview is in two weeks. I am getting very nervous. I am a student and am just starting a job now and really worried. Does anyone have any advice for the interview?

I filed for the K1 visa for my fiance but we seem to be getting info back about the marriage visa. I know some forms are different and what is required to bring to the interviews can differ. When my fiance went to his medical appointment they gave him a list of things to bring for the interview and it seems to be the forms for the marriage visa. Has this happened to anyone else? Can anyone confirm what they brought vs what was needed at their interview (in other words what did they look at or ask you for)?
Thanks!

Joint sponsors are for I-864 only. The I-134 may allow co-sponsors, but not always. It depends on the embassy.
Are you saying your fiancé makes less than 100% of the federal poverty level for his household? That would worry me more than anything else. Does your embassy allow co-sponsors?
I am the one filing for my fiancé. I am a student so my income in right below the requirements. I am just graduating next month and have a job that now meets the requirements but don’t start until a week before our interview and it won’t be solid enough proof. I heard that they don’t require it until the AOS but now i’m worried.

hi!! has anyone gone through the interview process at santo domingo?? Do I need to bring I-134 to the interview and do they allow co sponsors ?? I’m getting really worried.

The K-1 uses the I-134, not I-864, as it is a non-immigrant visa.
Yes, you take the I-134 to the interview.
thank you... if I need a joint sponsor will they also fill out the I-134?

Hi everyone!
Is it required to bring the form I-864 affidavit of support to the interview for k1 visa? I have heard that it is not asked for, but then required to be sent when doing AOS after marriage in US. Any advice? Thanks!

To summarize it in basic terms. you/your joint sponsor are responsible of your fiance financially until they receive their citizenship or leave the country or die. divorce doesn't grant you freedom, you brought him here you take care of them. period!
I guess I am just confused because we already split finances...he will be working and having to contribute so I’m just confused if there is like an extra thing i’m missing. my joint sponsor is worried they will be paying fees

Essentially, if he were to ever file for means tested benefits the government can make you pay for those costs. Getting a divorce does not absolve you (or you co sponsor) from that obligation. This can last up to 10 years.
what are those ?

hi everyone,
What exactly is the affidavit of support for? I read all the obligations and forum posts but can someone explain it a little more for me? What are examples of times I or my joint sponsor would have to pay for my soon to be husband?

Right after i asked for help about how often they get sent out from nvc to embassy, i received the email saying it had been sent. How will i find out it has been received by the embassy?
-
is there a method to when or how often the cases get sent off to the embassys ? I have heard certain days of the week they ship or every so many cases they complete they ship. i spoke to someone a week ago and they said that it should go out soon.

We did Cr1, but vaccinations are required also. If your fiance has his medical records for his injections, they may or may not take it. My husband had to get the flu shot, in addition to the MMR, it escapes me the other injections, sorry. Yes the medical is very expensive.
thank you! how far dated can the medical records be do you know? can it be from within the past year or so?
-
Hi everyone! What vaccinations does a male need for the medical exam before the interview for k1 visa? we are trying to get all vaccines before the medical appointment to avoid high fees. any advice? Also this is for santo domingo dominican republic.

hi everyone! my fiancé will be arriving soon and i was wondering if anyone did any certificate programs while waiting for the work permit? my fiancé would like to get involved with a trade but the programs seem to be more timely and costly than we expected. Does anyone have any advice or good career paths that they have chosen? We want to feel financially stable but i don’t want him overworked as an immigrant. his english is great.
