  1. @Fariya Both the applicant and the spouse will be interviewed for i-751. Applicant should not go without their spouse.

I had a combo interview last Thursday, they called my spouse inside first for interview and then called me (the applicant) for an interview.. Also it is stated on the i-751 interview notice to bring your spouse with you.

If you can't attend the interview then I recommend rescheduling the interview appointment. There is also rescheduling appointment info on the interview notice you received in the mail.

Good luck with your immigration journey🤞. This is the last step.

  2. Update: 11/09/2023

Here is my experience about my combo interview of (3 year eligibility) I-751 and N-400 today at Portland Field office in Maine.

We arrived 40 mins early, the security guard at the entrance was very nice and welcoming. There were at least 12 more applicants waiting for their Interviews. Our interview started 15 mins late. The officer called my spouse in for an interview first, about I-751.

How did you meet each other ?

How long have you known each other ?

Have you met your spouse's parents?

What does your spouse do for work ?

    What are your spouse's interests?

What did the two of you do for dinner last night ?

What do you do for work ? (Business owner)

Who do you own your business with ? (With ex)

Do you all get along ?

Then, I was called inside and the officer asked me the following questions:

How long have you known each other  ?

How did you meet each other ?

What visa did you come to US ?

When did you come to US ?

Have you traveled outside the country?

What do you do for work ?

Does your spouse own the business ?

Do you all get along ?

How many rooms do you have at the business ?

This all went so smoothly that I didn't even feel like I was being interviewed. The whole interview went like a good conversation...

At this point of the conversation the I-751 part was done and the officer said she will start the N-400 part. My spouse was told to wait outside.

    N-400 questions for me:

Q1: What are two ways Americans can participate in their democracy?

Q2: Where is the Statue of Liberty?

Q3: What did the declaration of Independence do ?

Q4: What is one right only for US citizens?

Q5: How many senators are there ?

    Speaking:

What do we pay to the government?

    Writing:

We pay taxes to the government

Afterwards she asked those general questions from the N400 application like: Have you ever been convicted of a crime and blah blah...

After that I was told to wait outside as the officer enters data into the system and also to check if someone is available to do my Oath Ceremony.

After 5-10 mins I was called into another big room, like a conference room where they usually do Oath Ceremony in Large groups, my spouse came along with me. We were the only two in that room. I was giving my Naturalization Certificate. After a couple mins the oath ceremony was done and we left the building.

It was very nice of them to arrange the Oath ceremony for me on request since I have a trip scheduled soon so I need to apply for my US passport ASAP to get it on time.

I myself was nervous at first but trust me there is no need to be nervous, you have done all the difficult parts of the immigration journey. They can't just deny you. There has to be an obvious red flag to deny you. This is the last step, it will go more smoothly than you think. Enjoy the process, You are becoming a US citizen...

@Meekmil how did you know it would be a combo interview - did your i-751 case status update to show interview scheduled? Or did you get any other notice that said it would be a combo interview? I have N-400 interview scheduled, but no updates with my I-751, so I assume it will be combo but unsure how i can confirm that.

Also, how did you request same-day oath, did you just attach such request together with the N-400 application?

My i-751 online status never changed from the time I submitted.

I got i-751 interview notice in the mail after my N-400 was scheduled for interview. Then a couple days later I received N-400 interview notice in the mail as well. Both interview notices had the same location, date and time, so there, combo interview.

I wouldn't trust the online status time. They don't update them very often. When I received my N400 interview notice, my online status update went up from 7 months to 9 months. I also checked my i-751 online status with no update and there I had an interview notice for i-751 in the mail 🤣

  4. Update: 10/08/23

I received an interview notice in the mail today from my local field office and it's for my I-751 ROC. I thought I was gonna get the N-400 Interview Notice in the mail. It's weird, and there is no update on my I-751 status online either.

The I-751 interview date, time and location is the same as for my N-400 Interview. Its gonna be a combo interview.

I'm about to apply for naturalization and I would like to know if we have to scan and upload the supporting documents online.

    Thanks for feedback.

Yes, if you are applying for Naturalization online then scan all the required docs and upload it to your USCIS account. They have a tutorial on their website as well. Here is the checklist for all the docs needed for N-400 application.

Huge congrats @Meekmil and @visatransfer!!! The way I ran to check my USCIS account 😅 no updates for me yet, but very hopeful after your posts!

Did it state on your interview notices if you're having a combo interview?

@stephbd it's going to happen for you too, soon. Get ready for the interview.

My interview notice only states my interview date, time and location. Doesn't say anything about an Oath Ceremony or a combo interview. My ROC is still pending 🤷, not a single update on it. But the interview notice does say it will take up to 2 hours so I guess it will be a combo ?

  7. Hi everyone,

I filed my N400 (3 year eligibility ) online on 8/21/2023. In a couple minutes the status changed from 16 months to 10 months. I hope the rest of the process also goes as quick like this, lol.

It has been quite a journey with USCIS, Can't wait for this last step to be done.

Oh, Do we need to send pictures of the two of us for this case as well ?

  8. Hi,

Thank you for taking out your time and explaining the whole process, it is explained very well, it helped me and will help others too who have no experience.

First, In my opinion, being in a relationship after 3 months of friendship is quick and it might be a red flag. But it depends on the CO too how he treats that!

Second, When the Counselor asked "Don't you think your fiance is just your parents age ? and your answer on that :"  No My father was much older than he is".

Pakyman I know you said it politely but your answer to him is not clear and specific and sounds rude! You could explain to him that yes he is older but age doesn't matter to both of you, you could say you like older men and your fiance like younger men and you both clicked and both wants to get together.

Again this is just my opinion, the approval mostly depends on the CO's mood and his personality

    .

I am so very sorry to hear about your situation I can imagine your feelings dear but hey What ever happens, happens for good! Be positive and lets hope for good. Try Cr-1 Inshallah you will make it this time.

You asked about my gender, Yes we are both men and we are in a huge age gap relationship but let that not discourage us because that's who we are, be positive. Inshallah I and who else is going through the situation pass the interview, just be clear and specific to your answers. Pray for me and for all of us who have their interviews coming, you know the feeling.

I'll be in touch and keep posting the updates here.

Take care, good luck with your upcoming interviews!!

  9. Thanks for being positive and supportive to me, it means alot. We have been 4 times on a teio, each trip was for 2 weeks, I have lots of more evidence to show them. Inshallah I'll make it. Pray for me guys!! you know the feeling ..

A few questions to ask :

Is the interviewer male or female ?

Why were they rude to you ?

Did you get approval?  if not, what's the reason ?

    What are your next plans?

I would appreciate to hear about the whole process inside the embassy and your experience!

    Thanks.

  10. My interview is on 2nd July, I'll keep posting about it here!

I am having my medical exam test after a few days and they are asking for NVC letter. NVC letter clearly shows my fiance name and which clearly tells I am gay .

Any same-sex couple went to the medical test ? How are they treating you when they find out you are gay ?
