File the I-407 then she can apply for a B visa.  The key to approval will be how strong her ties are to Jamaica, like property ownership, apartment lease, steady job, commitments to family, financial stability, etc.  If her ties to Jamaica are strong her chances for a B are greater.  The fact that she previously had a green card won't make much difference, but the family ties she has in the US will make it more difficult to get a B approval.

wow ok.. thank you so much for this info!!

  2. she is the grandchild of an lpr. she was 16 when the process started and about 21 when it was finally finished. They did not have the money for another application so after she came she tried to apply for a visiting visa for her son so he could live with her part time and his father part time- that was denied, so she went home to be with him.

Thank you for answering my question... I'll let her know she needs to file i407

  3. Hi guys!

My sister in law lives in Jamaica. She previously held a US Green Card that she abandoned about 6 years ago. (She had a very young son in Jamaica who's visa was denied so she went back home to raise him)

Is it possible for her to get a visitors visa? She does not want to come back here to live, just visit family.

  4. I flew to Jamaica on 9/12 to take my step daughter to her interview on 9/13. I was told she was approved but they needed an I864A for my husband. I submitted the information the same day. I have checked CEAC religiously for an update and finally today it says "READY" Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at:http://nvc.state.gov/interview

Does anyone have any idea what this means?? Does my step daughter have to do ANOTHER interview???

  5. My step daughter had her medical appointment in Kingston on Monday 9/2/19. All of her vaccines are up to date but she has to get the chicken pox vaccination before she can come. She could not get it same day because she had a high temperature. They wanted her to come 2 days before her interview to get it. She lives on the other side of the island so of course traveling costs are a concern. They did say she can come and get the vaccine the same day as the interview but I am nervous that she will have an issue being approved for her VISA without it BEFORE the interview. Has anyone else experienced this??

  7. My application with Uscis went a lot longer than it should have bc they processed the application as if I was filing for my husband (who was already a permanent resident) instead of for my step daughter. I filed July 2016 It was a 1 & 1/2 year battle because even after fighting to have it fixed they denied the application and I had to file an appeal and they finally fixed and approved it Feb 2018.   Then it was stuck in processing for Uscis and sat in their office for a year until I contacted my senator in January 2019 who got it pushed along for me. It was finally received by NVC on June 4, 2019. I paid all fees by June 6th.

I had to supply tax transcript for 2018 along with the affidavit of support. For my step daughter I submitted her passport photo. Birth cert. and her passport biographic page (the part of her passport with the number and photo) make sure when submitting all of your documents they are right side up. (Where the reviewer can read the docs from left to right without tilting their head) because the passport photo was submitted the incorrect way it took an extra 5 weeks to process even tho every other document submitted was accepted.
