she is the grandchild of an lpr. she was 16 when the process started and about 21 when it was finally finished. They did not have the money for another application so after she came she tried to apply for a visiting visa for her son so he could live with her part time and his father part time- that was denied, so she went home to be with him.
Thank you for answering my question... I'll let her know she needs to file i407

Yes
ok great... thank you!

She did not get pregnant until after the process had been started for her and her siblings. She gave birth before they received the approval.

no she has not filed the i407 ... does she have to do that before attempting to get a visiting visa?

Hi guys!
My sister in law lives in Jamaica. She previously held a US Green Card that she abandoned about 6 years ago. (She had a very young son in Jamaica who's visa was denied so she went back home to raise him)
Is it possible for her to get a visitors visa? She does not want to come back here to live, just visit family.

thank you so much everyone!

We are having an issue with trying to get time off of work to go and pick up my stepdaughter to bring her to the US. My cousin is going to a wedding in Jamaica and two weeks so we were wondering if she would be able to bring my daughter back with her. Does anyone know if there are any restrictions for 1st time travel?

Just checked and her VISA was issued today!! you were right! THANK GOD!!

So i checked it again this morning and it is back to AP .. maybe it was changed to "ready" in error... ugh so confusing!

I just did an interview with my 8 year old step daughter and because her mother and I were both present they didn't ask her any questions. There were several children ahead of us that they did ask 2 questions to all of them. "Who is filing for you?" and "when was the last time you've seen that person?"

I flew to Jamaica on 9/12 to take my step daughter to her interview on 9/13. I was told she was approved but they needed an I864A for my husband. I submitted the information the same day. I have checked CEAC religiously for an update and finally today it says "READY" Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at:http://nvc.state.gov/interview
Does anyone have any idea what this means?? Does my step daughter have to do ANOTHER interview???

Good morning.. I'm not sure if it is the same for every country, but for my step daughters interview in Jamaica I just brought a printed copy of my email.
-
ugh. thanks for the update @YP950
I've literally been waiting on hold for NVC for 45 minutes. My stepdaughters interview was 9/13, I need to know if her visa was issued.. thiss stinks!
-
I had the same "wrong way up" problem. It took 5 weeks and 2 phone calls to the NVC. the 2nd time I called she told me someone hadn't marked it for review again. It was accepted the next day.

My husband and I are both in the US. my husband was supposed to go to the interview but his green card and passport are both lost. Can my stepdaughters mother take the child even though my husband has sole custody? does he need to send some sort of proof that he gives her permission to obtain a visa? any help would be appreciated.

My step daughter had her medical appointment in Kingston on Monday 9/2/19. All of her vaccines are up to date but she has to get the chicken pox vaccination before she can come. She could not get it same day because she had a high temperature. They wanted her to come 2 days before her interview to get it. She lives on the other side of the island so of course traveling costs are a concern. They did say she can come and get the vaccine the same day as the interview but I am nervous that she will have an issue being approved for her VISA without it BEFORE the interview. Has anyone else experienced this??
-
@Blade1986 i never received the message that all documents were accepted in the message box either. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Hopefully they get an interview scheduled for you soon
-
this is exactly how my file looked after they accepted all of my documents. I called NVC and waited on hold for an hour. The only update they will give you at this point is that they are waiting for the Consulate to give them interview dates. they told me some countries have a 30 day wait, others could be 60-90. 😞

My application with Uscis went a lot longer than it should have bc they processed the application as if I was filing for my husband (who was already a permanent resident) instead of for my step daughter. I filed July 2016 It was a 1 & 1/2 year battle because even after fighting to have it fixed they denied the application and I had to file an appeal and they finally fixed and approved it Feb 2018. Then it was stuck in processing for Uscis and sat in their office for a year until I contacted my senator in January 2019 who got it pushed along for me. It was finally received by NVC on June 4, 2019. I paid all fees by June 6th.
I had to supply tax transcript for 2018 along with the affidavit of support. For my step daughter I submitted her passport photo. Birth cert. and her passport biographic page (the part of her passport with the number and photo) make sure when submitting all of your documents they are right side up. (Where the reviewer can read the docs from left to right without tilting their head) because the passport photo was submitted the incorrect way it took an extra 5 weeks to process even tho every other document submitted was accepted.
