    Thank you,

What documents should I pay particular attention while applying for N400 other than the actual online application and necessary documents? I know I do not have to prove again that this is a bonafide marriage

Marriage certificate, tax returns, copies of your Green card (while i-751 pending, copy of your old card and extension letter), some bank statements and if you have children, of course their information as well. Good luck to you!

DO we have to wait for the I751 to get approved before we apply for N400? I sent my I751 recently and I was hoping to get some advice on how and what to prepare for sending the N400 application when my 90-day window opens up. Please advise and thank you,

Technically you don't have to. You can apply for Naturalization with pending i-751, which usually results in combo interviews. If you are not in a rush, you can wait for your 10-year card to be approved and arrive before you file N-400. Good luck!

Hi everyone - my I-751 status changed yesterday to "new card is being produced". I was about to file N400 online today. I filled out the whole forms and uploaded all the supporting docs.
    1. But one question was to upload Green card images. Is this an issue to upload the expired green card ? or should I wait for the 10 years GC to come?
    2. 3 years bank statements- Did you upload statement for each month or 2 statements per year?
    2. Also, I have an international travel plan in NOV. I want to see what the interview timeline for New York City office will be.
Thank you everyone for your support.

    Hey congratulations on your approval!

    1) I’d wait for the card to arrive. Actually that’s what i did before filing my N-400

    2) i dont think it is necessary to upload statements for all 3 years. YTD should do. Maybe some from 2018. Don’t forget to upload your Tax Returns for the past 3 years at least. Good luck and welcome to the group!

@blushbaby welcome to the group! I’m sure that your estimate will change (shorten) after you are done with your biometrics. Happened to almost all of us here. Mine shifted from July 2020 to May 2020 and now it says February 2020

Filed my N-400 on July 9th Online. Where do I find completion time?

Welcome to the group! If you sign in into your online account and go to your case, the Estimate will be on top left corner right above Case, History, Documents section. Thank you and don't forget to add your info to the spread sheet below in my signature!!! :)

  5. @JeffandTanya well the estimated time usually means from Start to Finish. However, as I already stated, people who have been waiting for their i-751 get approved and applied for Naturalization while waiting, have a shorter time frame to get their N-400 application approved. (This is a checked fact)

Anyway, the process of Naturalization has shifted to a longer processing time than it used to be.

I remember when my wife applied for her Naturalization back in 2015, it only took her 3 months from Start to finish :)Those were the good times...

  6. @erikavsw Massive Congratulations on your i-751 approval. It was a long and stressful period for all of us.

You are not in a “hopeless” situation here. You can file online and request change address service AFTER you are done with your biometrics. Generally your biometrics notice will appear in about a week after you file online and you can print it (instead of waiting for an actual letter to show up in your mailbox) and do a walk-in biometrics as soon as you have the printout. I did it and had no problems with it. After that you can request a change of address and your case will be transferred to the state that you will move to.

On the other hand, you can move, reside in that NEW state for 3 months and then apply for naturalization. Anyway, you have enough options to consider :) good luck with your application and keep us posted through the Shared Table.

Did an early walk-in for biometrics today. We were in and out in about 15 minutes.

The website already updated to reflect this and our estimated time of completion went from January to December.

That’s awesome! December 2019 is your estimate? I didn’t see your timeline in the shared table. Could you please update it? If you are getting everything wrapped up so quick, others might have a hope as well :) good luck!

  8. My Biometrics' appointment was scheduled for 7/23 and did a walk-in appointment today at a local office. It took them about an hour and a half to "squeeze" me in, but got it done!

My case completion period changed from 12 moths to 10months now after I did my biometrics. Also the status changed to "Case is being actively reviewed by USCIS". I really hope that it will take less than 10 months to complete. Good luck to us all!!!

Just out of curiosity, will you guys be able to keep your birth country’s citizenship?

Thankfully mine allows dual citizenship. Otherwise, I don’t think I would have applied for the American naturalization.

I will keep mine as well. But there are number of countries that do not let you have a dual citizenship. Even if that were the case, I still would have naturalized in the US.

  10. @Marcus73 Sorry to hear the trouble you are in. I am in a similar situation and I have been abroad for about 220 days in 2016-2017 ( 1 trip lasted this long). I had to renew my passport and got hold up there because my dad had health problems. Moreover, I hadn't visited my family for about 7 years since I moved to the US and my mother had died.

My spouse was in the US, we had a lease in our name, joint bank account and credit cards that we paid each month, also we have filed tax returns jointly. I have submitted all of these documents on July 1st when I filed my N-400. I am planning to bring the copies of supporting documents when I go for my interview and hopefully, will be able to explain the situation to the IO.

I filed for AOS in Philly. Got my 2-year green card in 4 months only back in 2015. Good times!

I remember my 2-year card came in about 3 months (February 2016). My 10-year card came in about 15 months. Still not bad considering that people who filed with me are still waiting for theirs. Philly usually processes pretty fast and I really hope to get my citizenship this year :D one can only wish, right? :D :D
