Just a quick update! (it's been a whirlwind since the interview!). Visa was approved at the interview September 11, received email notification September 13 from Canada Post that it had been shipped. Arrived at the post office in Moncton, NB I had it to delivered to September 17. Open up the mail package and check the visa in your passport to ensure all numbers and names are correct. There's an envelope in there they make very clear to keep sealed.

I went through Port of Entry driving through the Houlton, ME border from NB. It was about 30-60minutes in secondary inspection while they went through the stack of papers in the sealed envelope and entered it into their system. Very friendly staff there who asked a few simple questions at the desk (how did you meet? are you on any medications?). My fiance drove through with me so it might have helped having him there. I provided a detailed packing list of personal & household items I was bringing in with me and their estimated value. They took all the information and had me fill out an additional import form. The car did not get searched. I had brought my interview binder in with me just in case they asked for any additional documents, but they only asked for a vet certificate for my dog. I-94 was stapled into the passport and cost $6.

They gave me a little American flag and told me congrats! We went and had a beer immediately to celebrate in the only bar we could find open in Houlton, Maine lol. I had heard mostly stories of people going through airport POE so I wasn't sure what to expect driving, but thankfully my experience was a good one.

    Hi,

I will be travelling next weekend to the US. I have a cat, could you tell me which form you got from the vet ? I have his rabbies and micrchip all up to date but not sure if he needs anything else. Thanks for the help !!

    Thank you so much,

So I will get them same way 😊

is it the ones with glossary help to translate

Just making sure, could you confirm me for birth certificate you chose ? is it "acte de naissance pluringue"

because I asked this once and I saw there is not all the information like there is the "Acte de naissance integrale" (like where your parents were born...)

Yes it is the one with the glossary to translate. They said it was fine yesterday. And yeah it doesn't have all the same info but it has the info they need to have so it's all good. I just gave them the 3 pages and it was all good.

Salut Wendy et felicitations ☺️ !!!

As you are french like me, could you tell me how did you do for the birth certificate and police certificate from France ?

I know I have to bring certified translations, I did ask these documents and were delivered in France last august then asked my family to send them here in Toronto.

    1. just wanted know when/where did you get the translation done?
    2. do the consulate require less than 1 month/3 month validity of these original documents and/or translations ?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Sammy,

THanks! Yes I am French as well so I udnerstand the stress you are under.

Both documents were requested and a copy of my birth certificate was also reauested.

On the French website for police certificate and for birth certificate there is an option to request them in English so I went with that and they approved it yesterday. Google French birth certificate in English and you will find the link. I also had these sent directly to Canada and it didn't cost me anything, they both arrived within 2 weeks here in Montreal.

My forms were both from June and my interview was in September and they ahd no issue with that so I think you are good.

Make sure you also bring your current Canadian visa as well as a copy of it as they will ask for it.

Let me know if you ahve any question :)

  4. Hi KenandBina,

I posted my Consulate review yesterday if you want to have everything in detail.

All in all just make sure to come early so you don't have to wait too long. Have all your paperwork ready with copies of everything and make sure to have the tax form from 2018 for your fiancé to make things easier (only document they asked me to provide for his affidavit of support although I offered them the other documents (letter of employment, bank statement and paystub) and they took them saying it could only help to ahve everything).

    The questions were basic:

    - how did you meet

    - what is your longest stay in the US

    - do you have any wedding plans (told her we did but were waiting to confirm everything once we had the visa)

I was crazy stressed about the whole thing but it turned out so much easier and everyone there was super friendly, from the other applicants to the entire staff over there.

Don't hesitate if you ahve more questions :)

This is so frustrating! I heard only selective dates where opened on September so I’m hoping more dates will open up still. Crossing fingers

The appointments for K1 are only on Wednesdays and it appears that every Wednesday for the month were made available... so the only hope for September is someone cancelling their own...

    Good luck !

oh man! congrats @wendy_pierre !! We've been looking for a few weeks too and must have just missed it Friday.  But seeing you got it gave me hope! I also hadn't discovered this forum until today so it's nice to know we aren't alone in this waiting game.

    Thank you !
And yes this waiting game can be exhausting... the 2.5 weeks it took me to get that appointment were the longest of the process I feel..
But don't worry keep checking regularly and you will get something. Don't loose hope if it takes longer than you had hoped for!
I really hope you get one fast though !!

Thanks! After your exam in Montreal do you pick up your results from the doctor or they mail it to you?? .. I’m thinking about doing my exam out in Montreal instead of Vancouver and staying a good week out there. Also which doctor did you choose?

I will go and pick it up myself to make sure it is all on time.
And I made an appointment with Medisys and they assigned me to doctor Ilana Galperin. They were super nice on the phone and knew right away what I was asking for and gave me a detialed list by email of the paperwork needed.

How far away do you need to schedule your doctors appointment to your interview? Does anyone suggest a time frame as to how close or far away I should book my doctors appointment?

Hey I live in Montreal so it is easier for me.. I scheduled my interview on the 11th for the appointment on the 18th.
I would say try to do it at least a week before the appointment just to be sure.

Supposed to be done within one year of your interview. I had mine done in January thinking we’d be long done this whole process by now (we sent our packet in August 30, 2018 :(( )

I feel you... Did mine once I knew the NVC had our file. Was too scared that things would take longer than they already were..

You sent your documents in August ? How come it is only being ready now ?
I sent mine on February 6th 2019.. I feel like things are almost fast for us..

  10. Question regarding the police certificate.
Do they need to be a month old or would they still be ok if I got them done in May/June for my September 18th appointment ?
I have lived in the US, France and Canada so I want to make sure I have everything "recent" enough and don't get delayed fro these.

Also, do your Canadian one look this the below ?

    Thanks guys!

Now that most of us have interview dates coming up...

What supporting documents will you bringing along with your I-134 (Affidavit of Support)?

I know we need to bring my fiances tax summary for 2018...but do we need 2017 & 2016? What other document should I bring? Recent pay stubs, W2s? Do I really need a letter from the bank? What should it say? Getting confused about this part. If someone could share what they've taken in the past or what they're planning on taking that would be awesome so that we could all refer to it.

    Personally I have gathered:
-a letter from his bank showing when he opened the account how much money is on it.
    - his tax from from 2018 only
    - his lease to prove his address (just in case)
-a letter from his job saying he is "full time permanent employee" with his annual salary
    - his last few paystubs

I just saw your message now and checked but still says no appointment available for me :( ... Did you manage to pick one?

Aww I'm sorry you couldn't snatch one... There weren't too many available either I feel like.
And yeah I picked the 18th of September cause it was more convenient for us.
Hopefully you'll get one soon !!

I checked today and had the same luck for k1.. are you able to pay the fee it’s asking for? I’m thinking I have to do that first but not sure how to as I don’t see a pay button!  @wendy_pierre

    Hi,

You have now joined the rest of us who need an appointment !
The system won't let you pay until there are appointments available so you're all good on that end.
We are all hoping to get an appointment for September by the end of this month so keep checking the website and hopefully we all get one !

I've been waiting since the 11th of July checking the website many many times a day and still nothing so it shouldn't be much longer..

Ahhh, thanks so much for the quick reply! Any bumps in the road are always a bit nerve wracking, thanks for easing my worries. ^^

No worries I was the same when it happened to me and got worried I would have to leave Canada and go back to France and wait even longer for the next steps..
Hopefully you get your Packet 3 and 4 quickly so you can get an appointment for September !

I did what others in the thread did as well and inquired for a P3 through the Montreal embassy support e-mail but got this instead.

I'm guessing it's because he's not a citizen but a permanent resident? Not sure if this is normal but will comply as normal, of course.

Hopefully packet 3 will come after this.

    Thank you for your inquiry.

According to our records, to continue processing this case, the applicant is requested to submit a scanned copy of proof of status in Canada by replying to this email address. Any further processing of this immigrant visa case has been suspended until we receive the requested document. Once the document is submitted, the file will be reviewed and the consular officer will provide further information on the status of the case.

    Hi There,

Got the same thing happen to me just a few weeks ago. Once I sent the proof that I was legally in Canada with a simple scan of my work visa they approved it and sent me packet 3 within a day :) So you got nothing to worry about !
