I don't remember paying that before. When did they implement it?

Hi! I read on the US embassy website that the CRBA and US passport of the baby can be filed simultaneously. How true is that? Did you do the same?

Another question, after the baby is taken some saliva specimen for the DNA test, do we still have to go back to the US Embassy or just wait from that day on for the result? I live in Gensan and I don't wanna keep going back to Manila with the baby.

Hi there. I'm going thru the same situation once my baby's born in August. The only difference is that my fiance and I are still together but we have to go thru K1 process all over again since I came back here in the Philippines.

How do I apply for a Consular Registration of Birth Abroad for the baby? I need step by step procedures including application for her passport and SSN. What does it mean that the baby must be LEGITIMATED? How long does everything take?

Hello Ness! Sorry I was not online yesterday. Yup, they called us last thursday at 2:00pm and the lady told me that the visa is ready for pick up on Friday at 10am, window 33 and so we did. I also attended the Guidance and Counseling seminar yesterday afternoon and went to the CFO after that.

VJ was my attorney. I didn't get a RFE and I have sure seen people with attorneys that have gotten them for reasons the attorney should have seen. It would have been nice to have someone to ask questions to but I think the wonderful members here have done that for me. I am glad I didn't pay a grand for someone to fill in blanks for me. But I can see it both ways. Like you say you wouldn't pay now that you know how it works. I can say It may have been worth knowing someone that already knows what they are doing is making it more likely my loved one will be with me sooner. I wish we could just pay that grand to the process to speed this painfully slow process up

I will have to add, if I had been present for her interview, we would not have this delay. The Consulate Officer would have had me there to answer any questions he had. I did send the notarized statement today, I don't care much for delays. It is advisable for Fiance's and spouses to attend interview if there is any way possible, it will help to eliminate any possible delays and help keep the poor ladies calm. But I am happy, at least she did get her approval and not an assignment to the AR dungeon.

I agree! My fiance was with me at the interview. They asked him more questions than me.lol But those were all easy questions though, like how we met, when, where, how many visits, what's his job and where. We gave them a clearbook of photos, and one folder of snail mails, snail mail receipts, emails, ecards, chat logs, voice call logs, and video chat screenshots. All of it were colored photocopies except for the chat logs(message archive screenshots). They just scanned it and never really read it and the consul gave it back to us (2 folders).

Yesterday was our interview schedule at the US embassy in Manila and poof!!! We got approved!!!! My OH bought our tickets in October for roundtrip and we're leaving on the 15th to NY!!!!! Weeeeeeeee!!! I will be home for Christmas!!!!

Yes Frank, OH means Other Half. He bought tickets for both of us from NY-MNL from JAL. He told the airline that I won't be traveling with him on the flight from NY-MNL, only MNL-NY. The roundtrip ticket has the same price or is a little cheaper than that of the One-way ticket. It's gonna be hard and there's no guarantee that we'll get the same return flight if he didn't get roundtrips for both of us, plus we want to sit next to each other. So that's it. And yup, I'm referring NY as my home now.

Oh, I wish we can spend Christmas with my family but Wilson was only given a 2-week vacation and his job really needs him. He came here for my interview and to get me. It was hard for him since he was very busy with his job. I feel lonely thinking that I'd be away from my family now but we have internet. I can still celebrate it with them. My husband needs me too. It's gonna be my first time to celebrate holidays with someone special.

Ah ok, thanks for the info. We may hang around manila a few days after and try to catch a taping of wowowee so if it's just a few days wait that would be perfect for us. Again, CONGRATS! I'm so happy for you two!!

Yup, all rooms in this hotel have internet access. I'm not sure if Bayview has internet access though. But Miramar Hotel, just next to Bayview, has internet in all rooms too and their room rates are cheaper 1,910 pesos.

Hi VJ'er,

Got approved from my interview this morning.. The pre screener and the consul was so friendly.. the entire process went smoothly.. I got my CR1 visa and they change my interview to CR1 instead of K3 that was supposedly assigned on this date. I'm so happy the consul grant our request for visa pick-up..

I will post the details of my interview whn i finally in the US.. My flight is on Dec 8. So hopefully USEM will call me 2moro to give me the date and time whn i possibly get the visa on friday.

Hi mike! After the interview, we were called to another window. I asked the lady if we can pick up the visa. We didn't make a letter requesting for it like what others did as we were at the interview together. The lady asked the reason why we want to pick it up. We said we're leaving soon. We were asked if we already have tickets, we said yes, and the exact date. We didn't show her the itinerary. She told us to take our seats and wait for a while as she's gonna ask permission from the consul first. She said there's no assurance that the visa pick up will be approved. Then after waiting for about 15 minutes, my name was called and she gave me a pink card to write the name and contact number of the person picking it up. Of course I wrote mine. I asked when we can get it, she said they'll just call us when and where. They haven't called us yet.
