mqp-888 got a reaction from AK_2014 in oath with husband
Hi guys, everything went great! a very special moment for me and my husband!
He was only asked for the id, but they do not do any background checks.
the ceremony was very well organized.

We've already started looking for lawyers to change my husband's status.

    Thank you

    Congratulations on your oath!

Here is my experience. My husband was in the country with an expired tourist visa and he didn't go back. He actually joined me to my oath ceremony without any issues. After the oath ceremony was over we went to the post office to drop off his AOS package. He has a Green Card now!

They didn't ask him for his ID when he joined me. He had a ID from Colorado which they give to people without status. It says something along the lines that it's not good for identification or something like that but again they didn't ask to see it. My ceremony wasn't at a courthouse.
  3. Thanks

(This probably depends on the location. The ones I've been to at a courthouse in St. Louis require some sort of federally recognized ID to enter the building.)

That's so awesome; congrats for your oath!!! I don't know personally about Oaths as I'm a AOS from K1-er but wouldn't it be better generally if your hubby got in status. I obviously don't know your situation so please excuse my ignorance but I'm only suggesting so as this isn't the administration to be 'out of status' I wouldn't think!

    Congrats again
