  1. Had our interview last Friday. We had been scheduled for Aug 27th. They canceled it because our complete file was not there yet. We had a I-751 pending so they were waiting on that. We had to wait 5 weeks for it to be rescheduled and it was for Nov 8th 740 am. It wasn't fun getting our 2 year old up at 6am to get there in time with morning traffic and then entertain him for the 1 hour we waited to get called back and then keep him occupied in the small office while we had both interviews. I (the spouse) was present for the whole thing. It was very quick and easy and the officer didn't ask questions like others I heard of asking for the I-751- like details of how we met and preferences of the other spouse. I guess having our child with us green-lights mush of the process. She wanted to see our tax transcripts. I brought the returns but the transcripts had gotten lost in the months of waiting and rearranging the house. But she didn't make a big deal of it. She also asked for my (US Citizen) birth certificate twice.  I told her I brought my passport. I didn't want to search for the birth certificate. She enjoyed our little boy even though he was cranky. He is a cherub with big blue eyes and curly dark blonde hair and smiles at everyone. I think it gave us an unfair advantage. lol. Now waiting for the ceremony to be scheduled which she said would happen within 3 weeks. Long road but I think we sped it up applying for the N400 while the I-751 was still pending since they are required to interview everyone now.

  2. Interview De-scheduled!!! =(

I got a letter in the mail saying "Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to cancel your appointment."

I'm guessing they hadnt scheduled a combo interview and when my query trickled down to their office finally they realized their mistake and now have to reschedule with an agent who can do a combo. At least we didn't waste our time in that case...

So back to waiting for an interview.

how did you verify your I751 at your local office? did you have to call them?

After receiving the interview scheduled notice, I sent an email on my USCIS account asking if they were going to conduct a combo interview because I didn't want to waste anyone's time.. They sent me a response saying my I-751 file was under the jurisdiction of the Tampa office and they forwarded my query to them.

Thank you 😊. What is your local office? Did you get a letter for the I-751 after that update?

Tampa, FL. I only received a letter saying the I-751 was transferred to another office from the National Benefits Center. Then I received the letter saying our N-400 interview was scheduled. Nothing else on either case since but as I verified our I-751 is at the Tampa office, I'm 100% certain the interview will be a combo so I'm going with my husband.

thanks. It seems weird that online case tracking status show 'interview is schedule' but i logged into my account and no update in there.

Also, my I751 case get transferred to another office on the same day that my N400 interview schedule. That's a good thing i guess for combo interview

Yes my 751 case was transferred shortly after applying for N400. I sent a message to USCIS after interview was scheduled to bring to their attention the pending 751 so it didn't get lost in the process and they scheduled the interview with an agent that could take care of both cases. The reply said it was determined that our local office had jurisdiction over our 751 so I took that as a good sign. they at least have both files so odds are they will do a combo interview.

My advice is to do the same if you filed your N400 online. Just to make sure.

I have no clue how those services work. I compared processing time among busiest offices and even those gives dates for interview. What is going on? Or those who combo cases have more benefits?

I'm not sure what your question is? Are you asking if people applying with a combo case (751pending plus N400) are processed faster? If that's your question, I think from what I've seen the opposite is true. Having a combo case tends to complicate but I also think it's better to apply for the N400 as soon as you qualify considering processing times if citizenship is your ultimate goal. Otherwise, it takes longer.

  7. Got the interview letter posted to account! Aug 27th. Seems like a long time away but I'm glad it's there. A set date to study for. No mention N of the I-751 of course so I will send an email to request a combo appt just in case it got lost in the shuffle. I hope it's a combo so we don't have to wait for another interview spot! If all goes well it will be 3-4 months total for this application process. 👍

    Hello everybody

I am a N400 may filler.  I am still waiting for my 10 years green card and today i received an appointment for my I-751.  i am just wondering if is a combo interview because the reason for appointment is " Review  and completion of your Form I-751..." did not say anything about my N400.

Somebody else is in the same situation?

Usually they send the appointment notice for the N400 without mentioning the I-751 and it's a combo. I don't think in your case it will be a combo. But at least they didn't schedule the N 400 before the I-751. I would go prepared for both just in case but I would be surprised if they took care of both.

    Hi all!

Local field office is Agana, Guam

    N-400 application submitted online May 31, 2019

Scheduled for Biometrics on June 18, 2019 at 3:00PM. I arrived at 2:30PM on the day of biometrics and finished at 2:45PM it went by pretty fast as I was the only applicant there.

Received a notification that an interview date was schedule on June 22, 2019

Interview date will be on August 8, 2019

According to the USCIS my estimated completion time will be in November (a total of 5 months) but I believe it will be all completed by August upon checking other VJ users from Agana, Guam. Most people got their oath less than 10 days after the interview.

    Good luck to everyone!

WOW! I wish my local office was Guam! That's the fastest interview scheduled I've seen. Hope everything goes well!

  10. Gearing up for interviews....anyone putting aside additional documentation? For instance, I'm wondering if I should print out the confirmation for our flights out of the country and back in just after we did the biometrics in case it comes up for them to add to the calculation of time spent in and out of the country. Also, since we have a pending ROC, I'm wondering if I should print out updates of bank records and anything else that comes up in the meantime. I already submitted the IRS tax transcripts I've seen some interviewers ask for at the interview according to others. Not sure what else to bring besides the originals of any official paperwork we submitted (marriage certificate, birth certificate of our son, etc)

Speaking of the status change after biometrics. My coworker had to wait 2 1/2 month before he was informed of the interview. Between biometrics and and interview date were 4 months. It depends on your location though, San Diego isn't the busiest spot but there's still a big flow of applicants

That seems to be a normal time frame to me. It's been 2 days short of 5 weeks since biometrics for us so 2.5 months isn't that far away.

  12. Hey guys. Quick question. I-751 case received June 25 2018. After NOA and no biometrics needed was received, nothing since. N400 submitted May 11 2019. Biometrics walkin was completed 5/24 since the appt was scheduled for a day we would be out of town. Yesterday we got a letter in the mail saying the I-751 preliminary review was done and the file was transferred to local office Lee Summit, MO. Our local office however is Tampa, FL. Is this a mistake? I'm hoping for a combo interview so I'm wondering if I should contact them to let them know the file should be transferred to Tampa. Anyone have this occur and didn't need to contact them because Lee Summit is a stepping stone so to speak?

    Thanks for your reply

OK. Another question...down bottom of your profile, what does it say for "estimated wait time"? Is that the same or different from what it says up the top ("estimated case completion time")?

I don't have an estimated wait time anymore. I think it means for the next step because it disappeared when they scheduled my biometrics

  14. We did the walkin for the biometrics today. I was worried for a minute that they wouldn't let us because she questioned what we were doing there so early. In the end, she had already stamped our paper before reading the date so that may have been in our favor. We didn't get the appointment letter in the mail yet so I printed it out and they had no trouble accepting it. Our estimated completion time decreased from 7 months to 5 months (Oct 2019). I'm hoping there will be movement on our I751. So far all it has said is received.

    Hello,

Submitted N-400 online yesterday (May 21st). My online profile now says "Estimated Case Completion Time" - 9 months/Feb. 2020. But I cannot find out what office/processing center will be handling my case.

For the most part, the completion time is over exaggerated. Sometimes by a lot. My local office is one of the fast ones and some people going through my local office have their oath and citizenship just 2-3 months after they applied. But the estimated time for my office says 7 months. I find it more helpful to look at the recent timelines for my local office to see what to expect and then take an average since there are several factors that could speed up or slow down a case.

    Hello fellow N400 filers,

We just submitted our N400 forms online for N. We have a pending I-751 too. Hoping this step will save some waiting time.

    Good luck everyone!

    N and S

Yep us too for the pending I-751. Almost a year now. I'm hoping they are on the ball and transfer our I-751 in time so we can have a combo interview.

  17. Got the bio appt posted to my account this morning- 6/6. We won't be here so we will be doing early walk-in this Thursday. We didn't get our NOA1 until the Friday after it posted so I think the bio appt letter will be the same. I will be printing it out to take with us. I think it should be fine as they just need it to scan the barcode I hope. I will let yall know how it goes.

    Applied 5/11/19

    NOA1 posted to account 5/14/19

NOA1 received in the mail 5/17/19

    Bio appt scheduled 5/18/19

    Letter posted 5/21/19

    Appt given for 9am 6/6/19

    Hi all!

Glad to have found this group! I have a query:

i would like to know if I need to initiate reschedule of biometrics to be able to do a walk in? Or just attempt a walk in to see if they would accept me? Has anyone been rejected despite having the appointment letter? Also can I print the letter posted online and use it, if I don’t receive the one via postal by this Thursday (planning to walk in then).

if it’s okay to go for an early walk in, any advise on the time of day? Also do they need proof of reason to the early walk in?

My current timeline, as attached. When will I know the CIS LOCATION?

*Receipt notice received on 05/17/2019 via postal mail

**Bio appt posted online on 05/18/2019, document loaded in 05/20/2019 evening-yet to receive actual postal letter.

Hello. It's a draw really depending on your service center. I think the only one I've heard of having a problem was Indianapolis but there could be others. I've seen many people do early walk-ins and be successful and they don't even ask why. I've heard the afternoon is the best time to go. The only thing I don't know about is the printing part. I really hope so because that's what I have to do. We will leave for vacation this weekend and won't be back until after the appt but I don't think we will get the letter in the mail until Friday. Friday we already have a dentist appt to put on a crown so we have to go Thursday. According to my estimation we should get the biometrics appt letter Friday but you are one day ahead of us so maybe you will get it Thursday. If your mail comes by noon I would wait to see if you get it that day and then go in the afternoon as long as the center isn't too far away from you.

  19. I got that notice yesterday morning also. I'm hoping (and I think it will be) the letter will be posted by Thursday so I can print it out and go before we leave for our trip. Though at this point I may keep the scheduled appt if it is June 14th or later to have more time to study for the civil test. Most timelines for our local office (Tampa) are completed in 3-4 months total. If we go early for the biometrics that may mean the interview would be soon after we get back from our trip leaving little time for study.

  20. Question: Anyone have their biometrics waived for N-400? We submitted our ROC June 2018. We received NOA stating the biometrics had been waived for the ROC about 2 months ago. We submitted the N-400 1 week ago and only received NOA1  but no biometrics scheduled yet. Everyone filing online in my timeline had their biometrics appointment letter posted to their account within the week and their estimated completion time updated then. I noticed this morning that the completion timeline decreased by 4 months (11months down to 7 months) but nothing else changed from Case Received and NOA1 sent. I'm starting to think they might waive the biometrics for the N-400 too but I've never seen anyone have it waived.
