just wondering , out of all the folks with recent NOA2's in June so far - if anyone already got a NVC case number. I called the automated line and they did not have any record of my petition yet .
I got my NVC case number today.
-
Suggestions:
AnnaF filed both I129F and I130, both forms got approved on the same day. No offense meant (happy for you!), but this list was made to reflect "pure" I130 filers. This is because "double filers" get approvals much sooner. Which is great for them, but screws up statistics - you can't compare the two groups (I-130 only and double filers).
Suggestion - to remove?
Trailmix was originally a VSC filer, according to his signature. Suggestion - to correct CSC to VSC on this line. The transferred files may be going through in a faster pace than original CSC files... so it may be important.
Anybody willing to do it?
Methinks this is going to skew the list. Several people on the list were changed from VSC to CSC when their files were transferred, if we are making this change someone probably needs to look up all the March filers to see who was transferred.

Just an update on my Sister and her family using UPac from Calgary to Omaha.
Their shipment took a week and a half, which was longer than anticipated (but no big deal as it was just 'extra' stuff). Unfortunately something was loaded in the truck, behind their stuff, that was greasy.
They made sure they dodged the grease on the floor of the truck and thought all of it was ok.
On further inspection, when unloading from the U-haul at home, turns out there is a bit of grease on everything.
UPac is able to do what they do as, if you are using part of a large trailer, they pick up other goods to fill the trailer, be it fruit or tires. The UPac office did assure her (when she called to tell them about the grease), that they have strict guidelines on what can go along with a UPac shipment and this never should have happened. They are sending her out forms for a claim.
When they arrived at UPac in Omaha to unload their bulkhead (divider between their stuff and the other items that were loaded later) was down and that is apparently how they got grease on them.
One other thing - the prices quoted are in U.S. dollars. This was a bit of a surprise as the transaction took place in Calgary, she paid in Calgary and it says no where in the contract that it is U.S. dollars, she just noted it on her Visa statement.
All that said, we are still going to use them when we move.
-
How much was all of this?
I believe it was just under $800. They charge by the foot and they pretty much used the 'base' (minimum) amount, which is 5 feet long, 9 feet wide and 8 feet high.
After that you are charged $27 per foot.

My Sister and her family came up here to Calgary last week to collect all their stuff from the basement and get it to Nebraska (in anticipation of our moving to the States).
They used ABF/UPac and it went well. They chose to pack the truck themselves as it was 50% cheaper and have it delivered to a city 40 mins away on the other end (again, much cheaper).
They packed the truck last Thursday, should arrive tomorrow (Wednesday). The ABF people were friendly and helpful. The person there mentioned they are getting the Econo Cubes here in Calgary by the end of June (currently you can only use the portion of the full sized truck method).
One thing that did happen, ABF called me on Sunday (about 2 hours after they had headed out - they were driving). The truck was stuck at the border at Montana as ABF forgot to get a photocopy of their visa. Anyway, the truck driver kept an eye out for them and they met up at Sweetgrass a few hours later.
We are going to use UPac when we move.

Our NOA2 was sent out today!
-
Any march filers seeing some action?
Ours was approved today!
-
All you need is your receipt number from your NOA1 to get your case status online:
-
Have updated as we were transferred to California on May 19th - at least I know our file is still moving!

After I found out the NOA1 date for Trailmix was wrong, I realized that I was the next up for February at the VSC, took a look through the dates for VSC real quick and saw you on there still unapproved from January and felt extremely miserable for you
Your reply made me laugh Geist as I was feeling the same when I was in the February 'group', when I realized my mistake I actually felt better (which is nutty since now I'm not even near anyone that has an NOA2).
When I look at some of the timelines for people who have filed a K3, I'm thinking that we should (plus we live in Calgary, so Vancouver is much closer than a jaunt to Montreal). Then I look at the paperwork (which I know we are going to have to do anyway) and I think, hmm, no, we will wait
Haven't completely ruled it out though.
-
Ok this is stupid I know, but I put myself on the list as feb 13th when in fact it was march 13th (NOA1), sorry about that, can you please update next time, I can't seem to copy and paste the list in to a reply as the formatting is off, thanks!

Hi Anne,
I've actually just gone through this same situation - well similar anyway, except I discovered that both my parents are American Citizens.
The fact that you have already been to the consulate and spoken with them AND they accepted your passport application - that's a good sign, doesn't mean you aren't going to need a lot more proof, but definately a good sign.
I think it's actually very common for Canadians - from speaking with the Consulate here (many trips there in the course of getting my own U.S. citizenship documented).
As you now no doubt know there are guidelines about where your parents were born, when they were born where and when you were born, residency requirement etc etc.
You and I might have some similarities, as we are both born in Canada, if you would like to exchange information please send me a private message.

I find that almost all attempts to convey sarcasm in a text medium fail miserably...or at least they do when I try it
Yes, you are right, it translates poorly in text, the 'burning question' part wasn't 'serious' either.
-
Oh and the 'completely random' part was tongue in cheek. You guys are losing your sense of humor
-
Funny, I thought Huskerkiev had answered that quite plainly - when he described the boxes and how they are distributed, etc. and that one adjudicator may start at the middle of the box, the other at the end.
And don't got by NOA1 dates - that will only be a lesson in futility for you. I was a November NOA1er and watched LOADS of December filers get approved way before me.
Well, I guessed I missed that post - there are well over 200 posts in this thread and I must admit I did not read each and every one.
-
No one has asked the burning question!
Are the order the files processed in completely random?
I have been watching the forums for a couple of months now seems some people wait a year for an NOA2 and some just a couple of months.
There is a thread for K1 visas, with date submitted, NOA1 sent etc etc and today someone who filed after us at VSC got their NOA2.
There is nothing peculiar about our application (really!) We have been married for almost 7 years.
Our application hasn't even been touched, I just don't get it.
-
Sooo, I have been reading the forums for a few months now and, as mentioned all over the place, these approval times seem to be completely random.
I would love to know how they work. Do they each just get a list of files and if someone is on holiday they sit there until they get back??
Our application is very straight forward, they mailed out our NOA1 on the 13th of Feb, our file hasn't been touched since then, yet someone gets approved who filed after us.
Methinks the system is broken! But you guys already know that
-
Hi Anne,
Just sending in the photocopies is all that is required.
-
what you want to do is called direct consular filing or DCF for short. has your husband been filing taxes in the us since he's been residing in canada?
Yes, he's been filing taxes.
I thought you couldn't do DCF in Canada?
Hi Yasdnilelis,
Sure you can do DCF in Canada, you can do this at the Consulate in Calgary. We didn't, we filed with Vermont as there was a period of time this year when DCF was suspended.
You will require another sponsor if you can't meet 3 X the poverty line amount with your assets (value of house, cash etc). This info is on the Affadavit of Support form (it's long and boring but a must read).
Using your In-laws address for your intended residence address is fine. You will probably stay with them until you get settled anyway right? The interview for the I-130 is in Montreal. If you file the K3 I think it is in Vancouver from the little I have read about it here (we aren't going to bother with the K3).

Hi Neen,
I actually just went through this. I only received my SSN a month ago - my 3 years worth of tax returns are now in the mail to the IRS - I filed 2006, 2005 and 2004 (although I noted the USCIS does only require 1 year - I decided to file 3 anyway).
There is a lot of info on the IRS site, I called them just to confirm and ended up speaking with an agent for 74 minutes - 5 minutes of this was actually useful information - but he was just being thorough I guess.
I filed a 1040 an F2555EZ and a F8891 (the 8891 is only necessary if he has an RRSP).
Anyway, it is pretty straight forward, assuming his income is lower than $82,400 U.S. for 2006 (as an example as 2005 and 2004 have their own limits).
Other than that the only thing to note is that all amounts must be in U.S. dollars and they give a link on their website to the federal reserve averages for each year. The agent also told me to call them in about 6 weeks to ask for a transcript, he said it is faster if I call to request one, rather than using the online form.
Send me a message if I can be of any help.

lol trail, it did get up my nose for a minute...
Read further in the forms. Special formula for spouses.. 3X makes it even easier.
Now back in MY day, we had to have 5X AND walk uphill to the Embassy in the driving snow.. both ways!
PS: those are US dollars, not the sometimes-confused Canadian "dollars". hehehe.. love to wind up the rellies with that one too...
Well now that is twice today you have made me laugh! Ohh I guess I can't be relied on to read the whole form - I skipped over the 3x reference and went straight to the example. However! From now on I will actually read the form before posting a question. Thanks again for all your help.
Moving: Canada to USA. What company did u use to ship ur stuff?

Interesting! It really is - as my Sister and the customer service person she had with her on the phone both went through the contract and neither of them could find any reference to the charges being in U.S. dollars (he was kind of shocked too!).
